- July 11, 2013. Americold Logistics 1740 Westgate Pkwy Atlanta, GA. Apparently the driver did not scan his right side before turning into the customer.
The entrance has since been remodeled with a higher reinforced curb presumably to prevent this from happening again.

And apparently the new curb has not helped according to the guard shack personnel.

Every time I get in my car, I'm STILL pulling a phantom trailer.
I know,, I retired 3 years ago & I still make wide turns & don't run the 3rd lane..
Hell I know the feeling
Same here my daughter laughs at me she says i drive my ford like im still in my big truck
"don't forget to do your walk-around inspection before going somewhere...and when backing up do the "GOAL".. procedure"!??😁😜🤔😎🤣🤣🤣
For real...my wife always like " wtf you going all the way up just to go turn right 😂
Whoever the guy driving this big semi truck was blessed that it wasn't worst than it could have
been
I'm glad that they didn't have digital cameras when I was a rookie.
Let me say nobody is perfect, everyone makes mistakes, his mistakes was obviously he didn’t take the turn wide enough. We all learn from our mistakes(hopefully). Before you judge him, remember you made mistakes too and you didn’t get judged for them. How can one judge when he makes mistakes himself. Stay humble everyone
My guess is...He was gonna turn left and then decided to go right and forgot that he was to far over.
Your response is misleading, to begin with. Of course no one is perfect. That has been a fact since man has been civilized. There are mistakes that are obvious and mistakes that are made due to a lack of training. Who is talking about judging anyone? Unless you were in the cab while the driver was making this turn, you need to step back and move on since there is nothing you can do to help.
the way he took the turn its like he forgot he had a trailer
Gotta admit, Prime has always had nice equipment
TMC got some nice trucks too.
I do contract work for them and they do have good equipment. They take care of their stuff
nobody is perfect he did a mistake and that it everybody do if you believe your perfect your wrong.
Not a simple mistake. The name on the truck says it all.
Actually training with Prime right now 😅
Well that's A $1.200 Tow Bill.
Everyone becomes a super trucker once someone makes a mistake
been driving a truck since 1974, we all have a brain fart now and again, lets give the guy a break.
I've been their but when that happens I just stop driving when safe to do so and get the fuck out and look (gtfoal) not goal
53philp it happens to all of us one time or another.
I hear ya but that wrecker bill is gonna suck.
53philp even u can admit this wasnt a fart. Jesus h christ look at the room there
@@s2h995 That is why we call it a "fart". Every logic and reasoning just slips out of out mind.
He had a bad day. He has to pay for his mistakes not us. Unless you have been In one of these then give the guy a break. I have been since 1991 and its no fun. No I haven't done anything like this but I have had my Fuck ups. Have a nice day!
better than running over a bus stop and pedestrians......
The driver wasn't paying attention to his right side trailer wheels.....
+Himithor NAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA REALLY? YOU THINK? loooooool
Please tell us something we don't know. Stupid comments stupid mistakes
You dont have to if you already pass license
He was probably distracted commenting on a CZcams video.
Most people can't drive four wheels properly.
Attn Jack Make mistakes in life is what make us better most of times.
Driver thought he was bobtailing, forgot he had a trailer behind him.
I always see truckers bashing other companies as if the one they work for doesn't have problems. I watch a lot of these videos and see A LOT of companies have the same problems. One is no better than the other.
Regg Brown Amen.
Anybody other than swift.....
Reggie Brown-Nooo some outfits are clearly superior to others.Yes they all have accidents/incidents.
Even I ve had incidents in my 22 yrs.But I've been in companies where the average hire can be trusted in NYC,if he was willing to go.And I've worked at others where you can't trust the average hire to go down the street and back. You just know he's gonna clip a stop sign ,bang a curb ,smash the dock lights. You know that your sitting in a classroom with mostly ticking bombs.I met a new guy just two weeks ago.Everything about him screamed new guy! Not being facetious here.I felt
kinda bad for him.I absolutely positively know that within 3 months he is going to bang something.
I can only hope that it's in a trk stop so as not to be at a high rate of speed when it happens.
dude that's why I never work for big companies and not all companies have that promblen
Completely disagree with your response. I have driven for a number of companies. With that being said, I have been with Prime for 12 years and have over 1 million safe miles. While there are drivers with all the major companies that should not have their CDL, the companies with the better training seem to have less accidents.
6 years ago ran over the only surviving telephone booth in Lima Ohio
Two words....wide - turn
If he was a lease op, he got a whopper of a bill from prime for that misadventure.
"Swing WIDE, Sweet chariot."
Sucks for the Prime driver but damn that's a nice Ford LTL wrecker
Man I love that Ford towtruck
Rare to see them !
Hey I've been there before, to pick up a load that is. And just to think after driving trucks for 27 years the dmv wanted me to furnish a truck and take a road test to renew my cdl.... Wow, why would they think I have a $150,000 rig laying around?
look at how that curb has been run over tons of times
Every!!!body!!! has bad days!! but this dude just flat fucked up!! real shocked it don't say SWIFT!!!On the side!!
Or CRST too!!
Why is he turning like he's in a car hard plenty of room to swing wide when entering Use Your Mirrors .
probably got hired the next day by SWIFT and made employee of the month before coffee break
Y'all better understand the word mystery.mistake will always be there no matter how careful you are or experience.
Nice old LTL 9000, i started OTR on one just like this one.Great old truck...
this is why trucks have big mirrors, on both sides !!!!
when you turn right you can't see shit hence the term blind side.
+barf245 That is what the spot mirrors are for.
32 Spring Street NYC to some degree, it is best to get out and look for blind sides
+barf245 Most definitely! I'm a big proponent of GOAL... And when in doubt: I get out and look!
HOW THE HELL DO YOU KNOW LORA GOTTLIEB ARE YOU A DUMBSHIT FEMALE TRUCK DRIVER FEMALE TRUCK DRIVERS ALL SUCK SUCH LOSERS
Not taking a turn wide enough is indeed a bad day.
God, I knew where this was in the first five seconds of the video and before reading the description. I've been driving too long...
One hell of a severe mistake, but all went well at the end.
Wondering why I am seeing this 4 years later.
Three weeks of training and heres the keys
seven to twelve weeks
You dont wven drive carlos
No excuse....how do a driver forget he has a trailer attached but been driving all day with it that's telling me he's not checking his mirrors
David I forgot my trailer for multiple reasons. All night in a yard riding without one, then hooking up sideways in the snow, seeing the trailer you disconnected and thinking you dropped the one you had and cutting through some parked trucks. This all after arriving at night around midnight.
A swift driver came over to prime lol
Metalmachine467 prime drivers are more poorly trained than Swift
Even a person that never drove a truck could make this turn.
Not really because I've seen it happy many times. He didn't swing wide enough
Call your terminal and say oops
Trucks and trailers keep getting longer and bigger and the lots keep getting smaller and smaller.
News Flash, 53' Trailers have been on the Road since 1986. What you need to say is, Drivers have gotten lazy and complacent about the Skills needed to be a Truck Driver. Now days it's those Nintendo/Xbox Generation wearing Flip Flops and Pajama Pants.
easytopleez33 This guy has no excuse. He has tons of room.
P. please
R. remember
I. I'm
M. Missouri
E. educated
Looks like americold on Xavier in the Fulton county industrial complex Atlanta,GA.
That wrecker driver was pretty good though.. Pulling trailers out of ditches? No sweat.
The tow truck operator was calm cool and collected. Assessed the situation, solved the problem........On ya way son. Nice work.
Why wouldn't the operator be calm, cool, and collected? Ideal weather conditions to work in and an easy fix. Nice payday.
That's going to be a hefty lumper fee to restack that load
driver was not paying attention on that turn !
Guess I subscribe to a different opinionIm retired after 35 years on the road.I have done my share of boneheaded things. If a guy is out trying to suppourt his family.Running ungodly hours and Miles I'm gonna give him the benefit of doubt.Thank god none of you guys out there criticizing have ever made a mistake. This guy isnt the first and won't be the last to make a mistake
Two weeks training and give them 18 wheelers 🙌
Brand new trailer, and considering the situation he was in, the damage was actually minimal. Not saying it was great driving, but he got off lucky with that.
He was not paying attention to where his trailer was going
Not good day for this driver that's an understatement, damnnnnnn.
cool looking tow truck
another professional truck driver
He was PRIME FOR THE DITCH 🤣
PRIME= Please Remember I'm Missouri Educated. What would anyone like to bet the landscaping and curb repair bill cost more then the wrecker bill?
Where was this taken? This place reminds of a shipper I been too somewhere in Pa where there was a ditch from the main docking area and enough to maneuver where there was no margin of error.
R Hayndr Americold Logistics in Atlanta, GA. Address is in the description.
The exact thing happened to me on my DG Account in those dark Mississippi roads
I've been to the other facility on that road. Not too bad to get to.
And everyone thought swift was the only trucking company doing demolition work
Seeing this reminds me of taking my time driving my rig carefully thru tight spaces. there are some shippers and consignees that are not designed to handle truck traffic. But hey, we are professional drivers. just taking your time backing into tight spots and no problem.
yup there’s a warehouse that i know that has one loading dock and make things worst it’s right next to a 7 lane street with a middle turning lane in the middle. you can only approach from south to north and back up in a angle going south west. drivers usually park right in the middle turn lane and wait for all 6 driving lanes to clear so they can get angled blocking almost all lanes just to back in the dock. this dock is also right next to a busy intersection. sometimes they be seating there waiting for an hr or more unless they get lucky and the cars stop to let them do their thing.
this couldve ended up being way worse. hes actually lucky
Only surprise, not a swift truck.
Hey Prime... Swing Wide Its a Fifty-Three! Lol
Well, it's not all bad. At least he cleared the pole!
Man that old school ford 9000 hood wrecker is to kewl for skewl 😁😁😁
What the hell was this driver thinking??? With that space? Wow...
is this a training video for swift and/or j b hunt?
Right side mirrors must be optional equipment on Prime trucks.
that could have been a rollover, just hope the trailer isnt messed up from all that twisting.
Damn that's a pretty 9000 Ford there.
It is important to get good training. The one thing that any trainer should emphasize is that when backing or turning corners, you do it slowly and WATCH THE MIRRORS.
If you aren't sure, get out and check. You arent saving time by ignoring these rules and winding up like this poor driver.
the name on the door explains it all
Driver's gotta pay for this. Not company.
I bet most of the people mocking that driver has torn up a lot of shit also lol But their fuck ups aren't on tape. Drivers at all companies have mad bad decisions like this guy. Even the most experienced ones too. He was lucky that trailer didn't roll over and take the truck with him. That curb has been damaged by many trucks over the years.
I hate when people sit there n walk around the truck to record the truck number n shit. Do you think prime wasn't gonna find out?
AND HE WAS AT THE TOP OF HIS CLASS AT PRIMES TRUCK DRIVERS SCHOOL.
They also put up a big sign saying warning PRIME, SWIFT,SCHNEIDER drivers swing wide
By the looks of that curb... This ain't the first time that has happened....
Had to be inexperience, but come on the road was wide enough lol.
Thousands of dollars damage to equipment and property. Another lesson in the importance of watching your mirrors. Drivers ALWAYS pay special attention when entering and exiting Truck Stops, Companies, Rest Areas and never let your guard down. That's when incidents and accidents happen.
I agree I wouldn't say I've gotten comfortable behind the wheel. I would say don't get yourself intona situation you can't get or back yourself out of ! I've said this numerous times and I swear it falls on deaf ears!
No doubt, driver just a bit excited to make first solo delivery.
I guess this driver never heard of off-tracking
Tow guy had to feed his family too
Did this guy forget he had a trailer on the back?
We all fuck up from time to time. Dude forgot he had a trailer. There was ample space to swing wide to make that turn.that could have been worse than what it was. I'm sure that driver was really embarrassed to have to make that call to the office and to have to walk passed all those drivers in the doors that saw him shit the bed
Probably watched safety film before leaving the terminal
that's when u know he's a rookie
Can happen to anyone..even if you have 20 years experience..a few seconds of inattention...and a nagging dispatcher ..is all what it takes
It happens to everyone every now and again
All that swing room and he still put it in the ditch
@Skier1968 What happened to the driver? Still truckin'?
Is that Doug Heffernan driving that Prime truck ? LoL
Ford ltl 9000 tow truck that's a sharp truck
Dixie Wrecker Service. They do have some sharp looking trucks. They take good care of them too. Here's their other 2 heavy wreckers. www.dixiewreckerservice.com/images/3362/reyeryer-59107.sel.6424.jpg
Same time happen it wasn't good day it was hoping to avre ones still you are good man
Prime cut and cheese and a cold beer solves this guys mistake.
Back in the saddle
otra vez.
He forgot to swing wide while turning right. He's lucky he did flip the trailer over.
Plenty of room to swing a trailer around not paying attention apparently.
If that tow truck driver would have been facing the other way he could of down this in one move, and avoided all that extra work !
Looks like the driver forgot they had a trailer...LOL
at least he stopped
They put mirrors on for a reason
