    Consider sumo springs in the rear easy to install and will limit that bouncy feeling, make the ride more firm.

    Always tow on 4th gear , if you tow on D , transmission will keep hunting for gears which brings its temp up . You need to add a sway bar , that will help with your sway on the highway. This camper is more for half ton trucks , I recommend never exceeding 60mph on highway to be on safe side .also get an odb2 reader and keep an eye on the transmission temp , you don't want it too high. Nice camper , enjoy camping with the family 👍

    Don't tow in drive, per the manual you need to keep it in 5th or lower. You can damage the transmission.
    I have a Tacoma also, nice truck

  • @hugodominguezguerrero6061

    Congratulations on the Tacoma and the RV; I want you to enjoy it a lot with your beautiful family, I just subscribed to your channel and I have watched the three videos of this weekend trip, I really want you to upload more videos, I encourage you to continue like this; I will be watching the material that you continue to share with us.

    Definetly get mirrors they help more than you think. Especially to see the semi trucks coming. When they go by use both hands on the wheel. I like to make sure when I feel the pull from the big trucks I steer away slightly. It helps keep everything lined up no sway. Speaking about sway. Measure how much your truck squats in the back with the trailer mounted and equalizer hitch on. If it goes down more than 2 inches think about getting a set of air bags they are cheap around 125.00 US. Helps with heavy loads and also heavy loads in the back of the truck. Hope that helps.

      Sumo springs , no air needed are also a consideration - ez install

    You need mirror extensions probably why you had difficulty backing the trailer when you first brought it home.

    At least 2 nights is right... But in reality, 3 night minimums are the best. That way you get 2 full days in and you typically miss the Sunday traffic going home. Have fun!

    we're gonna be towing a 4,400lb RV with the exact model and year Tacoma. I'm definitely nervous and hope I don't regret getting such a big RV. hard to decide based on research online. according to Toyotas numbers, it can do it, but lots of people say I shouldn't tow that much. guess I'll just drive slow

      If you watch my other videos, then you’ll know we been to a few places already, and so far, there’s not much problem, just remember don’t speed and watch your transmission temperature! Enjoy camping!

    I just returned from towing a rented 5800 lb (dry) trailer in PEI Canada. I have a 21 TRD Sport 6 speed manual and towed without issue. Make sure you use a sway control bar as well as brake controller and load balancing hitch gear.

    The bouncing up and down is those crappy, skinny Hitachi shocks that the Sports come with. I hated them. I have a 2019 Sport and upgraded to Bilstein 6112 shocks in the front and 5160's in the back with new SPC UCA's and an AAL, and its make a huge difference. My truck now feels great on and offroad. My trucks MGM color though and I prefer your blue. You have a beautiful truck man.

  • @tieoneon1614
    @tieoneon1614 Před rokem +1

    I see they make a sway bar for the Tacoma. Its not as popular cuz Im sure it limits articulation offroad. But I use mine as a truck and am considering it. I also inflate my rear tires to max psi, that helps with the sway.

    • @jemmycyc
      @jemmycyc  Před rokem

      Honestly, I haven’t use that sway bar at all,😅 I thought I needed it, but after more than 10 trips now, I don’t think I’ll ever use it.

      A sway bar is needed much more with a single axle trailer.

    I'm 99.999% sure that you are over your vehicle rating. Keep in mind, the limiting factor in most modern truck is your payload, NOT your tow rating. 4300 lb trailer would be roughly 600 lbs tongue weight (before propane and battery). Your WDH weigh around 80-100 lb. Your family of 4 weigh roughly 350 lbs. That brings the total weight at least 1050 lbs. That's the number before you put any gear into the truck or the trailer. Your Tacoma double cab 4WD Auto Limited payload capacity is 1120 lbs. If you bring anything to camping, then you are probably over the limit. I doule you are over the limit before you put anything in due to the propane tank and battery on the A-frame. The truck can tow doesn't mean it's legal. If any accident occurs, the first thing your insurance adjuster will do is to determine that you are towing over the limit of your truck then decline the pay out. Be safe, upgrade to a 1/2 ton truck.

    • @user-tb7rn1il3q
      @user-tb7rn1il3q Před 4 lety +1

      Nicholas Thon I’d buy a 3/4 ton to pull that trailer. They are always heavier than you think. A 1/2 ton is the absolute minimum. The Taco can pull a ski boat or pop up, but not much else.

    • @nicolathonathan770
      @nicolathonathan770 Před 4 lety

      Brian 1/2 ton should be ok as long as you don’t opt for the luxury trim which only has 1200 lbs payload. But I agree, overkill is always better. I personally pull my clipper 17BH (3200 lbs GVWR) with my F250. You can never have too much truck.

    • @user-tb7rn1il3q
      @user-tb7rn1il3q Před 4 lety

      Nicholas Thon I agree. I always worry about the brakes failing on a trailer. If you have a Super Duty you can still stop. The Taco will be upside down in the ditch. Depending upon your insurance company they may not pay out under collision if you are overloaded.

    • @ConcernedCitizen627
      @ConcernedCitizen627 Před 4 lety +3

      The tongue weight is roughly 10% of the trailer weight which makes it around 430 lbs not 600 lbs. that Tacoma can tow that trailer just fine as long as they don't overload it with gear and watch out for very steep hills. However I would recommend extension mirrors. If the camera fails you will have no visibility for backing. You also need to see down the side for your blind spots on the road. I have been towing rv's for 40 years so I think I know a thing or 2. I am currently pulling a 6500 lb 24 ft with a Tundra. Works just fine.

    • @nicolathonathan770
      @nicolathonathan770 Před 4 lety +1

      Donald Eaton 10%? You probably didn’t take account of the battery, propane, front cargo storage, cargo in the bed, occupants in the truck. Likely over the payload.

  • @squirrelkiller3589
    @squirrelkiller3589 Před 4 lety +3

    When you are towing your RV, do you have the gear shift in regular Drive, or do you put it in 4? With that much weight if its shifting into its highest gear it could put a lot more wear on the truck

    • @jemmycyc
