  • It's time to finally put my new Woodland Mills WG24 stump grinder to use. This will be my inaugural outing, and as expected there are some bumps and “learning moments” along the way!
    NOTE: This video is for entertainment purposes only. I am NOT a stump grinder expert. These are my amateur thoughts and opinions and are in no way an indication or instruction of how you should or should not setup or operate your equipment.

    Thanks for showing this we all have these little issues but most videos edit them out. Nice to see a real world video. Makes my decision to buy one easier.

    Chris- you did a great job - especially for a first time. And hey, that's why they give you a slip-clutch LOL! And great question about the tooth - here, every single stump I have removed (stump bucket, BH, excavator) has the roots wrapped around rocks. Its the main reason i have never further considered a stump grinder. Looking forward to hearing your research. Cheers - great job my friend!

      Thanks for watching and the kind words Gord. I sure did give that slip-clutch a workout. (I can take some solace though, in the fact that Ed did the same with his! 😉) It was great fun using the WG24 and I feel like I learned a lot just in that first outing. More fun to come!!! I guess this will be about the closest I get to a snow blower! Cheers!

    I recently purchased the WG24 and really like it. I copied the backup camera idea I saw on Timber Visions channel. It is well worth the purchase of the camera. I modified his idea slightly and mounted the camera on a Slate River game camera mount. I can point the camera precisely where I want to.

    Clearly, I didn’t fully read the instructions. I didn’t think to use the extra hole at the top link to store the pin. Perfect.
    Also I was thinking “is he going to slip the clutch like I did?” That was a pretty big stump! Great job, Chris. I think that stump grinder has already 8% paid for itself. It won’t take long!

      Thanks Ed. Definitely a bit of a learning curve, but I'm confident the next one will go quicker. It's not only fun to operate, but like painting, you get instant gratification! Thanks for watching and the kind words. Happy Holidays! (Loved the Farmall, BTW. 👍)

      BTW, I didn't see the "pin storage" in the manual. I may have picked that up along the way during my pre-purchase video consumption!

    New subscriber here, but I've had my WG24 for about 4 months now. Have ground well over 100 stumps large, small, hard, soft, green, and dry. Once you get over the visibility issue (I look under my left shoulder and can see the 6-9 o-clock position of the grinder wheel), and a feel for how much you can bite into different wood types, you will absolutely love that thing. I know I do. I run mine on an L2502 Kubota. I did get a back-up camera which helps a lot with preventing a sore neck if you have a lot of stumps to do (I once did over 50 in a day - leveling the soil the next day), but it isn't absolutely necessary for an occasional stump or two. Happy grinding.

    • @watershedoverlook
      @watershedoverlook  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Thanks for subscribing! Yeah, I learned a lot with that first stump. I think next one will go better. I'm always a little too eager to go down a technology rabbit hole, but if visibility remains an issue, I probably will rig up a camera of some sort. Thanks for watching. 👍

    Watching the video now
    The progress you made with your tractor seemed very successful 👍
    I think visability seems to be the main problem I keep hearing
    Need to consider a camera viewing the cutting area while watching wirelessly with your IPhone mounted in operators view
    Like when you view GoPro live with I phone 👍

    It does look like a great machine and I think you did a great job. The garden looks so much better without the stump. The lack of visability looks to be an issue, a remote camera may help.
