  • At the end of 2021, Powerwolf put on one of the most over the top, high production live streams the world has seen since bands have been doing online shows at the start of the pandemic, and today we check out one of the performances from it. In this video we break down the bands gear, discuss a lot of the production, and wonder how in the hell they pulled off some of these effects...

    My son is 4 and few things bring more joy to me than hearing him walk around the house singing "We bring fire, sing fire" over and over when he doesn't know we can hear him.

  • @RushAss
    @RushAss Před 2 lety +98

    The crazy thing is that Fire and Forgive is one of the weaker tracks on that album (IMO of course!) and it's STILL a banger. That album was so damned strong and to prove it was no accident the one they dropped last year was every bit as stellar. These guys are like the Gothic German version of Sabaton. Just so consistently good.

    • @TankTheTech
      @TankTheTech  Před 2 lety +12

      Totally agree with you. Even there weaker songs, in comparison to some of their others, absolutely slam.

  • @wrriddle

    Agree with you on the statement that Attila is a bit underrated as singer and sometimes I have the feeling it's because he's baritone. Feels like people give more praise to the singers with a higher range, like Bruce Dickinson, Michael Kiske, Rob Halford, and so on. Not trying to say those aren't amazing as well, but they overshadow a few others sometimes and there are not many who are as consistent and clean as Attila when it comes to performing.
    I really like Powerwolf. It's just feel good music and they always put on an amazing show. And that keyboard prop center of stage is such an eye-catcher and Falk also deserves that attention here because he always works hard for it. :p

    • @TankTheTech
      @TankTheTech  Před 2 lety +12

      I tend to like people closer to the Baritone range more than the high stuff, but I think you're right. I think it's because people see men singing high and go "whoa, he can do that?!" Almost in the same way that some people still find it remarkable that women can growl.

    @White0Reaper Před 2 lety +26

    Funny enough, Fire and Frogive was pretty tame and samey in terms of stage, costumes and effects. I hope they release it as a dvd/blu Ray so you can experience the full ridiculousness and joy that was the Monumental Mass

    @DoraFauszt Před 2 lety +16

    I've seen them live 3 times so far and waiting for the EU tour, as they'll have a stop in Budapest. Attila is insane live, he brings 100% studio quality singing on stage. He is a trained opera tenor, but even so, an exceptional one (imo).

  • @natasja_sv
    @natasja_sv Před 2 lety +26

    I honestly thought they were brothers and that their last name was actually Greywolf because they look so much alike... now I feel really stupid...
    Awesome song and amazing performance though, thank you for the interesting facts :)

    • @olgahein4384
      @olgahein4384 Před 2 lety +2

      Actually, all their names and the complete band history is fake, part of their powermetal persona. They're living it. And they're doing it so well, that even the media fell for it for years. There are still many who believe that the vocalist is a former opera singer from Romania.

  • @Eluarelon
    @Eluarelon Před 2 lety +7

    I am so glad that I watched the whole thing on live stream when it came out. My son happens to be a pretty big Powerwolf fan, and while it's not my perfect cup of tea I like them well enough especially when seeing them live. But the whole experience made me so exited that I immediately went online to find out when we could see them live next. So if everything goes well, me and my son will visit them this summer live at Frankfurt Waldstadium (and yes, I don't care at all how it's called these days) with the added bonus that after their performance we can see a small band called Iron Maiden close the day off :D). Btw. I think you're right about this being pre-filmed and edited for the stream, but having seen them live several times now, I can attest that they sound amazing even in complete live environments. so while watching this, I didn't care at all, because the show was just so amazing.

    • @Eluarelon
      @Eluarelon Před 2 lety +4

      oh and just for the record, they didn't just do a show in an awesome environment. They really did tell a story with the Monumental Mass which made it extra awesome.

  • @joshuahall3211
    @joshuahall3211 Před 2 lety +1

    @TankTheTech Forgive my long windedness... but I gotta try to make an appeal to your love for metal, especially its nationwide diversity, which is one of the qualities of your musical taste that I admire more than any other. You've taken us on journeys across the globe putting any and all politics aside for the sake of musical exploration and appreciation. You've taken us to Russia, to England, to Australia, to the ever beloved all metal capitols of Finland, Sweden, and Norway, to the power metal and avant garde loaded Germany, to Canada, to our homeland of America, and even to some of the more culturally cutting edge places like India (Bloodywood), and New Zealand (Alien Weaponry). And for all of that I thank you!! You've revealed music to me, as well as many others I have no doubt, that I'd never have known existed.
    Now for my appeal: one place I've noticed you haven't visited yet, and please accept my apologies if I'm wrong and allow me to stand graciously corrected, is Scotland. I personally have no familial ties to Scotland nor do I claim any Scottish pride for myself. But they do certainly have a select few bands, probably more that I'm unaware of, that know how to captivate the metal monster inside us all. The one in particular I'd like to recommend for you is Bleed From Within. They've been around for a while and have progressively gotten better and better. They've matured over the years since their inception and have made themselves a permanent fixture in my playlists and physical archives. I'd love to see you react to The End of All We Know. It's the one track that I never skip when it comes around on my list. If you're looking for a more up to date selection to keep with the hype of current times, their newest release, I Am Damnation, is just as worthy of a review. You won't be disappointed, I promise. Expect to dof your cap early on and head bang yet another inch into that bad ass mane of yours should you choose to react to either of these.
    CHEERS - from one Tank to another.

    Hey Tank, if you are still checking bands from other countries,try Greece. Sakis Tolis from Rotting Christ has a quite recent release which might interest you "Among the fires of hell" was released a few days ago as his own release so hopefully it should be straightforward to clear for reaction in terms of copyright claims etc. Many other bands that have been pioneers in their genre but never got the notoriety that their nothern European cousins got come from Greece and it would be cool to check them out if you wanted. For relatively recent releases I can recommend "Martyrs of the cult of the damned" and "Ishtar" by Nightfall and the entire live album from Septic flesh in Mexico with live orchestra. Keep up the good work Tank. We love you!

    I think one of the first Bands that came up with this concept of "Cinematical concerts" was Behemoth with "In Absentia Dei". Both are worth checking out and the production quality is even better than Powerwolfs concert (which istop notch in itself).

    If your not aware of them yet and are looking for something weirder to react to "Broken by the Scream" put out a new video in January: "Broken By The Scream - 感情クロスカウンター -".
    Its kind of Babymetal mixed with harsh vocals, but sounds unique enough to stand on its on merit at least in my opinion.

    Tank random question that has nothing to do with this video. When bands film music videos like Unleash the Archers “Tonight We Ride” in the middle of a Nevada desert do they bring their actual gear out or get some kind of duplicate so they don’t get desert playa dust in all their gear? I know people do product placement gear all the time but is prop gear a thing?

      All depends on what's available. Sometimes they'll bring their real gear with and just baby it to make sure it doesn't get messed up. Sometimes if bands know the hazards are unavoidable, they'll bring out different stuff. It's rare to get a direct copy of a guitar from a manufacturer just for a video, but it can be done.

    If you're looking for something that has an old school sound, I highly recommend you check out "In Deepest Black" from Evil Invaders

    Just asking you because both this and asked video are out just now:
    Maybe go and check out German (English singing) Power Metal Band "Grailknights". Newest song is with Angus McFife, called "Muscle bound for Glory". Their most popular is a song with Joakim Broden.

      Nope. Fishman is the brand, Fluence is the line/model, and humbucker is the type of pickup. Hahaha
