      @@justiny328Flippers crate artificial demand by buying up product thus lowering the supply for people who actually want to drink it. They then resale at a higher price because the supply is limited by artificial demand.

    • @mirrorimageryky
      @mirrorimageryky Před 9 měsíci

      @@justiny328 two fold: 1. Greed. Flippers are greedy, they make a profit, then some companies see that and say, "Hey, why don't we make that profit instead?" I think that's partially the case with Wild Turkey. 2. The hype and flipping drives up sales and companies that try to meet the demand have to increase production, which increases cost. I was told by a WT employee that was the case with some of their bottles, but I'm not sold that's 100% the reason for their massive increases. I love WT but I think the parent company is just greedy.

    For the lack of transparency and the absolutely insane price - I can't say there's a chance this surpasses RR picks. I can get amazing RR picks for $70 - $100, if Campari is expecting me to pay practically 5x that much they better give me something that is mind blowing. I was lucky to pick up a MM Cellar Aged at very close to SRP, it's incredible, but even that is not worth 400+. What a shame.

    Love the non bias review and I know how much you love Wild Turkey. Do you think it's priced that high to cut into the secondary sales? All 5,000 or so will sell just to Turkey heads alone but then you have flippers trying to make a dollar. Just my thought. Hope to get a pour but probably wouldn't buy at $450

  • @mikestich9173

    The ceiling for good bourbon is pretty low. That’s why we all like bourbon so much. That is why Russells picks and Rare breed stand up to things double/triple the price.

  • @marcwhiskey
    @marcwhiskey Před 9 měsíci +2

    There's not many players at that price but the price is justified by the secondary market. There are people still paying more than SRP. If they priced it at 200 bucks and it still was 500 on secondary they are losing money plain and simple. The producer should be paid for what they make, not the bottle chasers and investors and flippers, scammers, etc.. I'll die on this hill.

    A true Wild Turkey fan will always realize the best value this distillery has to offer is a Russell's Reserve Single Barrel store picks. Some of these store picks absolutely crush most all of Wild Turkey limited offerings. I have had picks that are way better value than anything “limited” stop this maddening idea of pushing out over priced inferior products.

    Everybody is bringing price in. I don't complain about the price of a high end Mercedes because I can't afford it. Bottom line is that's the price and if you want the whiskey that's what your gonna have to pay. I think more time should be spent on the whiskey itself and not what it costs.

    It obviously apparent many are disappointed with the cost of these bottles and won’t buy them and I’m right there. It’s getting ridiculously expensive to get any of these bottles. They seem to be purposefully making it impossible for many to enjoy what they are making. Is this an attempt to hurt secondary market? But why would you make this so expensive that 90% of your customers can’t afford to get a bottle. I’m sure it’s a great bourbon but at this price it’s just not worth buying. Sad really they have chose to alienate the customers. Which is where many of use are falling.

  • @gregsmith5132
    @gregsmith5132 Před 9 měsíci

    I agree the price is way too high for me alone, but it is the price that will get paid for limited release whiskeys. Might as well be the distiller/wholesaler/retailer getting it instead of some secondary market person. They need to price them at what they sell for so it is on the shelves for the people that can afford it and want to try it. Simple supply and demand economics. That said, if I could find 4 buddies to split the bottle with me that brings my cost down to $100 or $33 for each of my 3 pours which is not too terrible in my mind (assuming 15-16 pours per bottle)

    The concept for this bottle is similar to Jim Beam’s Lineage that’s a collab between Fred and Freddie Noe and has 15 year age statement and $250 price tag. Is Generations $200 better?? Don’t see how $450 can be justified…

  • @brettbuffum
    @brettbuffum Před 9 měsíci

    I don't anything is $450 great. I appreciate that they're trying to get theirs instead of letting secondary have the markup but this is too much of a reach. MAYBE if they'd done a REALLY special decanter and packaging that would make folks feel like you're paying for the story, the limited, special bottle that'll live on your shelf forever, AND the juice inside. That would have been sweet and MAYBE would tempt me. But using the same Masters bottle and adding a feather and a signature doesn't add up to another $200+ dollars...IMO.

    10 years cant come fast enough for bourbon etc.. it’s an absolute shit show. People hoarding bottles price hiking 3X/5X/20X on and on. Now the actual distilleries are raising the MSRP trying to maximize profit before the bubble/trend ends. I’m sure bourbon will be more popular over the next decade or so especially compared to the past but this whiskey boom is going to die off one of these days. The prices are ridiculous and the juice is just average now as supply can’t keep up with demand. The real good stuff will show up in 8-10 years once everything calms down and they have all of this extra juice laying around
