    Thanks for video. These Cherokees are plagued with issues then sold dirt cheap $1,000-1,500. No start issues, numerous dash lights on, etc. My current turd shows loss of signal to tcm after I fixed the no start. I can grab the last connector on pcm while it is running and it will die. I am glad to see I am 1 step closer to getting it sorted out knowing the 4th connector is my weak link. I traded for this turd so all I have in it is my time and new 18 inch $600 wheels off of a Sahara. I hope to sell it for $4,500. I know where I can buy an even better one than mine for $1,000. I cleaned both the fuse block and the plug( the pcm on my 07 it was the same plug as shown here with the tcm and pcm as one) . the next step is to pull the shifter and clean the board or drop the pan and change the solenoid pac... Your comment got me wondering if I should do the wheel bearings first. As soon as I put it into gear in about 15 seconds it goes into limp mode stuck in 3rd gear. I did notice if I leave it in drive but don't move it will not throw code so maybe it is the wheel bearing after all... What you think ?

I've just been replacing the relay because it's got life time warranty and it fixes it every time. I believe it could just be that I'm using a duralast brand relay and jeeps usually don't like duralast but I'm not sure what the difference would be in the design when it comes to a relay. I plan to replace it with a Mopar relay down the road.

    I have been having issues with my transmission where my 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo V6 3.7L Jeep will be stuck in first gear. I noticed that the ETAX relay was not present in my fuse box. I purchased an extra relay to replace the missing ETAX relay which is the same one you show in your video. However, when I tried to install the new ETAX relay, it did not fit in the receptacle. When looking up close I noticed there were not any internal contacts inside the receptacle. Does anyone know why this would be? Maybe the 3.7L doesn't have this relay? Should I be looking somewhere else for a similar relay that could fix the problem?

    • @JayDeeBow
      @JayDeeBow  Před 2 lety +2

      The EATX relay is specifically only on the 5.7 I believe. With the 5.7 the TCM (transmission control module) is built into the PCM. With your jeep you should have a separate TCM somewhere under the seat I believe but not entirely positive about the location. For you I would start by taking apart your shift knob and if there's any graphite marks clean that up with some Q-tips and rubbing alcohol. Then reset your Pcm by unplugging the battery for a few hours and see if that fixes it. If not then your next course would be changing the transmission pressure sensor and the shift solenoid. If you have any mechanical experience then trust me it's not as difficult as it sounds. The hardest part will actually be trying to drain the transmission pan without making a mess. There are plenty of videos on CZcams on how to do it. Just recently my jeep started getting stuck in third gear again after all this time. I replaced the sensor and the shift solenoid and it fixed it. It took me longer to replace the transmission pressure sensor than it did to take apart the transmission and replace the shift solenoid because there's so much shit in the way of the sensor. It's so difficult to get a socket on the sensor. For the sensor I was getting so pissed off I ended up just dropping the transmission cross member to bring the tranny down a few inches so I could get slightly better access. Also best way to drain the transmission pan is very slowly since there's no drain bolt on the pan. If you're going to open up the transmission I recommend ordering a aftermarket pan with a drain bolt. Worst case if none of that fixes it you may need a new TCM or PCM. I would save those last 2 for last as they are the most expensive. Last thing, if you replace the shift solenoid please make sure you get a Mopar one so you never have to touch it again and change both filters while you're in there.

      Yes for about a year the relay fixed it then the issue came back and was intermittent. I eventually had to drop the transmission pan and replaced the shift solenoid and both filters. It was a easy job. There's plenty of CZcams videos online. If you have a 5.7 then you'll have the 545RFE transmission which can be found in multiple dodge vehicles as well. Anyway if you end up replacing the solenoid make sure you go with Mopar so you don't have to touch it again in the future. I would start with cheapest fixes first and work your way up. What can cause this issue are the following, Eatx relay, shifter having dirty contacts, shift solenoid, dirty transmission filters, or pressure sensor switches(I believe our transmission has 2 of them. I only replaced one of them when I did the solenoid as well since I have a code for it.)

      Is zip tying them necessary? Or can I just tuck them away?

      @@JustdoitYwait you want them to contact each other so it discharges any electricity left in the system and it will reset the pcm. If try that too. And obviously replace the relay if you didn't. I replaced the relay first and it did nothing until I unhooked the wires and made them touch for about 45mins or a few hours I don't remember.
