    Hyperburst is quite the Russian roulette game. I have two pairs of the GRR 8’s and the foam feels different in each shoe. I noticed that they were each made in different countries: the black pair( softer) in Vietnam and the blue in China(firm).

    I have all the models discussed except the Ride 9 and trail shoe. I also have their carbon plated racer, the Speed Freek. I'm a Shoe Koo Koo Bird and have 26 pairs of running shoes. I concur with your preferences. BTW, the buzz on the Razor Excess 2 was an improvement, especially the upper. It's getting high marks.

    I have the MR 5 (x2), Razor 3 (x2), Razor +, Razor Elite, Razor Excess, Speed Freak and Horizon Vanish in my rotation. The Excess 2 is OTW and should be better with the new upper. MR5 has been my go-to for the last 2 marathon blocks I've had.

  • @iakona23

    Great review. Thank you. The factor that is most critical to me is the width. For example, I tried on the New Balance More V3 and the Saucony Triumph and the ASICS Nimbus 24 recently. The More V3 was roomy, the Nimbus 24 was snug but OK, while the Triumph was too narrow with the arch support cutting into my foot. I then tried the wide version of the Triumph and it was fine. It sounds like from your review that the Razor Excess would be wider than the Maxroad 5. I can handle different levels of cushioning just fine, but I have to have enough room on the mid foot and toe box.By the way, how is the width in the Razor Trail?

    • @RyansRunningReviewsYT
      @RyansRunningReviewsYT  Před 2 lety +1

      For me the Excess was just slightly wider than the Maxroad 5 in the toebox. The Razor Trail has a really tight fit. Probably the most sung out of all the Skechers shoes I tried. Thanks for watching!

    • @iakona23
      @iakona23 Před 2 lety

      @@RyansRunningReviewsYT Thank you very much for your reply. I tried on an ASICS Cumulus 23 today and the fit was very comfortable for me. I think that I will go ASICS for my next shoe purchase, perhaps Novablast 2 or the Noosa Tri 14 when it releases in April.

    • @filoIII
      @filoIII Před 2 lety +1

    • @iakona23
      @iakona23 Před 2 lety

      @MrChad97Z Thank you for this reply. Super helpful. My issue tends to me my toes getting scrunched together and the arch cutting into my foot. I have a pair of On Running Cloudstratus V2 and that has plenty of room in the toe box. The Cloud Monster that I run in now is a tighter fit but still usable. New Balance More V3 is just about right for me. Saucony in general seems too narrow for me. I would like to try out more ASICS shoes but I am worried about them being too narrow.

    I have run well in several models of Skechers, including trail models. Many running snobs discount them and it’s their loss. My friends laughed when I bought my first Hokas. Several of them now run in them. Ignore doubters.

    I had to return the Maxroad 5s, it was a ridiculously hard foam. More than I expected since no one really talks about it. Started having back pain which I never get while running. I ended up buying the Endorphin Speed 2s (of course) instead and freaking love them. I will say my pace was faster than normal in the MR5 just like the Speeds but the Speeds are also comfortable. I may give Skechers another shot in 2022 though. Thanks for the vid!

    I love my Skechers. I bought a pair for $40 at Target to train for a marathon, thinking I’d probably switch to Hoka or something. No need. They’re comfortable, they hold up, and all of my training runs have been in the sub-4 time I’m looking to do on race day. Anyone telling you to buy $300 shoes to meet your goals is just selling shoes 😅
