You guys are still the best! Your openness and honesty about everything (dancing in the kitchen, miscarriage, plastic carpet, cramps, etc.) is so rare---and so appreciated. We exchanged messages back in October. Since then, what happened? One of my daughters had a very early miscarriage while she was visiting me here in Florida. My own experience, back in 1985, combined with yours, tempered my expectations and reactions. The event was unfortunate, but all too common. We must all look to the future.

You mentioned about Julie peeing on the carpet. We've had 3 chihuahuas over the years and had the same problem with all of them. Our fur babies used pee pads but would absolutely pee on carpet or rugs if they had the chance. We figured out through research if you let a dog pee on a pad inside your house, they are being trained that they can pee *inside* your house. Unfortunately, pee pads typically won't work unless you have dogs barricaded in an area with hard flooring (no rugs/carpet). With all that said, we adopted our first big dog a few years ago and we'll never go back to lap dogs!! Having a tiny dog is nothing like have a 50 lb dog!
