- What makes this Nova-C Lunar Lander so special?
The Nova-C is the first spacecraft of its kind powered by cryogenic propellants consisting of liquid methane and liquid oxygen.
Once the Lunar lander completes its journey and softly lands on the Moon, it will mark the first privately-led mission to do so.
Lastly, this presents an opportunity for the United States to softly touch down on the Moon's surface since the last Apollo mission in the year 1972.
The Intuitive Machines lunar lander boasts dimensions of four meters in length, 1.57 meters in width, and a lift-off mass of 4,200-pound, Measuring it's six standing legs.

2nd mission to the moon since Apollo 11? Huh? Apollo 12? 14? 15? 16? 17?
That’s the first thing that jumped out at me in this video, too! Whoever/whatever posted this video online, just know that making such a boneheaded statement right out of the chute renders the info in the remainder of your video completely suspect.
@@randyjeske5784 Right, if they get that basic fact wrong then what else is wrong that's presented.
Bruh he’s referring to Apollo 17 in 1972. Don’t come yapping without basic knowledge
@@whirlwindeddie2124 Well, "bruh", he actually referred to Apollo 11 when he said that. Listen to it again. It's at the beginning of the video.
Glad someone said it....
I'll stop holding my breath when full communications are established, and we get the first photos
I like how he didn't mention😅😅 the Chandrayaan-iii mission($74mn) when he was comparing missions on basis of cost effectiveness.
This mission costs about $118mn though it uses reusable rockets.
Btw, India is working on reusable rockets.
😂😂
It's not something to be proud of dimwit, it means we're not spending enough ₹ for science
Thank you so much for posting this for us novices that are just excited about space travel.

Whys are there stars shown in space?
@@Brad_Fallon
It might surprise you, but, that's where stars exist. I know, crazy, huh?
@@Brad_Fallon Because there are stars in space and this is an animations so there´s no camera sensor that needs the right exposure.
Great video. Thanks for breaking that all down. Fascinating stuff!
My pleasure!
1:58 Luna 1 was a flyby, Luna 9 was the first spacecraft to soft land. We forgot how America also came in with the Surveyor Landers. But great video
Chang'e 2 is a Chinese moon probe and NOT a lander! Even so, it weighs 2480 kg which is considerably bigger than Nova-C mass of 675 kg, and yet the graphics show Chang'e 2 to be considerably smaller than Nova-C and the even smaller Indian Lander. The Chang'e 5 (Lander + Returner) which is more appropriate to be used in the graphics weighs 4000 kg .
wow I also wanted to clarify this..
Feeling proud of Chandranyan 3 landing on the moon as expected not head side down 🇮🇳 and also congratulations to intuitive machine 👏

A unique brilliant work, to explain the whole Sir. You act in first line. Thank you !

0:01 There were 6 more Apollo missions to the moon since Apollo11.
Really WTF? Did I not see Apollo 16 launch when I was 12 yo?
Pretty sure most people watching this knew that! But the LM did not change much in mass, and not at all in dimensions, on subsequent missions.
@@richardmalcolm1457Well if you ignore the lunar rover, the larger fuel tanks, bigger batteries, more life support, and a bigger engine on the later Apollo missions
It's comical watching people bicker over details of stage props. It's like watching Star Trek/Wars fans go at it. 😂
@@Anakin_Sandy_High_Ground I'm aware of the J class upgrades; but I think the point was, for the purposes of the comparison aimed at by the video, just referencing Apollo 11's LM was basically sufficient.
excellent video so informative and well put together x

Who was covering the space craft landing on the moon? The cameraman did great.
hehehe
Your video was much more fascinating and informative than the live event itself 👌

1:28 the first utilization of a Methane-Based Engine in space is not Nova C but a Chinese Orbital Rocket "Zhuque-2"
Very interesting.
We can see the launches on clear nights The Space Center is about 80 miles from where I live. I worked on fishing boats in the 80's down there and a heck of a thing waking you up when they shot off! First time it scared the shit out of me LMAO
I very much enjoyed your video and I gave it a Thumbs Up
Thanks! we love you guys.
@@Aitelly Really enjoy the videos you put out!!
@@oneshotme Thanks we tried our best
comparing the price of nova c to change 2 is very unrealistic , first the Change 2 doesn't cost 200m but only around 120m including the launch, 2nd nova c was only expected to serve for only 15days as you said max but some sources says less, meanwhile change 2 carried its mission for almost 2years and it is the first mission that produces high resolution images of the entire moon including its maps on 2012 which was publicly released on 2018
Sir actually chandrayaan 3 was usnig Angular Momentum and gravitational pull and thrusting concept that's why it took 40 days in affordable manner
Yes we already made a video about it
Did you say second or seventh mission to the moon since Apollo 11 in 1969? Because you realize we landed on the moon five more times with people and once orbit did with Apollo 13
It's hard to maintain a lie.
I remain sceptical untill i see video of the touchdown.
I'm also Waiting for the Pictures :) there's is a Press Conference today
There is nothing to be sceptical about, I guarantee you that lander landed on the moon. The real question that has yet to be determined is how many pieces is it in?
There's plenty of reasons to be skeptical unless you lack critical thinking skills. @@wally7856

4:33 2nd us moon landing after more than 50 years?
Are you considering the Eaglecam 1st landing?
you might be right
LOVED THE VIDEO, your production quality has always been good, but has gotten ridiculously good in the past year, I love your comment about Russia’s failing Lander being a sad occasion and you were absolutely right science is science and politics or petty nationalism shouldn’t get in the way. Keep it up!
Yea, but why does he shows stars in space in the animation? Both Armstrong and Aldrin have stated repeatedly that one cannot see stars in space with either the human eye or cameras? "Black Velvet" is what they called it?
@@Brad_Fallon I would say that the reason is because of the images that we get from our space telescopes and from our ground based telescopes. It is in the public zeitgeist that in space you see stars, because most of us only see pictures from telescopes. Now in Reality, it you are on the bright side of the moon you will be experiencing a significant amount of light from the sun reflecting off the lunar surface into your eye thusly blinding you to the very insignificant amount of light from even our closest stars . However, that is nuance. so I am guessing that they showed stars because that is what people expect to see and they did not want to have thousands of angry people in the comments pointing out how stupid their video was because there were no stars.
What do you think the reason is ?
@@jacksondodd8835I would say it's all fakery and any more than that is not allowed to be discussed on youtube... We are a highly censured nation.
That's wonderful job my bro thank you so much for that and really i have a wish and little request

Now to make a counterintuitive craft next.
Hands down best animated comparisons, and script! I seriously hope for this channel’s success.
Thanks New Video tommorow.
The one obvious comparison left out of this overview (which is pretty good as far as it goes) would have been NASA's Surveyor landers (1966-68).
@Aitelly make an animation video on India's SMART Torpedo.
It's a very interesting one.
You could have more accurately shown the orbital trajectories of each craft. For example, the India one I think that took a long time to reach the Moon, you could have shown to some degree the many Earth and Moon orbits it did to manage its the polar landing with minimal initial delta-v.
Why did IM-1 team had to wait for confirmed landing? I think they waited for over 1minute to get confirmation from the lander. What causes this delay in getting the information? Do our simulation time data vary with the actual real events happening with the lander trying to land on moon or something else. As far as i know, Time lag is only 2.56seconds to get data from moon.
After looking at their RF equipment they essentially utilized old apollo methodologies with modern digital equipment and SDRs. their high gain antenna, i dont think is steerable which is why they had a weak signal. if it landed on an incline the footprint moves away and it's much more difficult to acquire their signal. they did a decent job but their communications could use some improvement.
Apollo 11, 1969. Apollo 17, 1972, last landing 52 years ago. Apollo flights were manned.
Do a video on Biafran tech

Looking at the comments, it appears that institutionalized conformity is still alive and well. These people traded intelligence for education. How in the heck is anybody still believing such preposterous claims that people have ever been to the moon?
I heard the test launch over shot right into Uranus. Anybody know about that?
Best of luck to the Nova C lander 24
So actually the cube sat will be the first soft landing?
Amazing work 👽
Thank you! Cheers!
can i translate it and use for the talian public who doesn't know english?
Change 2 is only an orbital observer, Change 3 weight 1200kg and 1m height landed on moon in 2013. 10 years earlier than India, Japan and US.
Why Imperial measurements? Anyone interested in space is probably in a STEM field and prefers metric. Plus the test of the world thinks we're nuts and we are.

You seem to leave out that there have been more than one Apollo mission. And we have gone more than once
As was with the C-19 jabs, moon landings are also a litmus test. Will you pass or fail?
Why not add the Surveyors and Rangers?
“This marks the second US mission to the moon”
Only one second into the video and he has already made a huge error. There were 5 more Apollo landings after Apollo 11, the last in 1972

Lots of inaccuracies, but good animation.
Your width of one and a half meters is shown to include the landing legs. That isn't true. It is the diameter of the body only
And to think we watched Apollo 11 live as it happened in 1969. We watched Neil land it live on surface LIVE. Technology is going backwards these days. Had to wait minutes to know if this damn thing landed.

@larryvanbarriger6670 India has quite the active space program and launches satellites on rockies it has designed and built. Don't be so arrogant and close-minded.
Bro you didn't mention the budget of Chandrayan 3, which was 75 million dollars which is less than this mission. You cleverly tried to show that this is the cheapest mission to the Moon. You cleverly said that this is designed to last for 15 days, but in the case of Chandrayan you said that it only last 14 days, like you were trying to say that Chandrayan was designed stay longer but it didn't
Yes intentionally he hided few points, chandrayaan 3 designed for 1 lunar day only and it is cost effective, No moon machine was landed accurately other then isro CH3 moon machine.
IM3 is crashed on moon, it's not successful landed, but they are projecting like it's landed safely, no telemetry data no visual representation, Not released single photo till now. Watch ISRO & JAXA moon landing live telecast, these guys are not ready to accept failures.
Aitelly bro u should have mentioned the cost of chandrayan 3 if u r comparing every lander but if u r not mentioning then why mentioning how much days it took to reach moon. U should be biased on ur report.
You forgot Apollo 12-17 but yeah second after Apollo 11. :DD
It's not a reactor - it's just an energetin radioisoyope yhat gives off a lot of heat as iut decays (no fission)
I think u forgot about the mission cost of chandrayan 2
