    It seems kind of crazy and shallow that a majority of big names are big due to the simple fact that they are attractive. But we're all programmed to be that way. We love things that are attractive/ aesthetically pleasing, (guys/girls following models.) Some things don't really need more of a reason than that lol, it's human nature.

    I think it’s damaging to see the over-sexualization of female artists. When you’re thinking of the newest generation coming up, these are their role models. In our days, our role models were people like Martin Luther King Jr., Malala Yousafzai, etc. and now it’s Cardi B, Megan the Stallion, etc. This over-sexualization of people in high positions like these female rappers and even some male rappers could damage the mind of a child or a teenager. It’s sad to see that talent doesn’t sell these days but shaking your butt in front of a crowd of 10 thousand people does. Smh

Instead of rapping about pussy and twerking, most popular male rappers rap bout lean, gangs, killing their opps, and how rich they are. Yet, you hardly see criticism toward them. If you gonna criticize the females for repetitive subject matter, then criticize the males that do it to. There are more noticeable exceptions in the male community, but still.

    One thing to understand is that once you’re signed to a major record label, you’re basically their property, sometimes they get told to do certain stuff and wear certain stuff in the music industry, multiple black female rappers or r&b artists have said this, and I'm not saying you are but it's very easy to just judge people and things that we don't know the ins and outs of. Nicki Minaj's whole Blackprint album was overshadowed by her one anaconda song that was oversexualised,that song wasn't even meant to be a single but they had to change it because her personal songs weren't doing that good I think yes the artists have part responsibility but I don't know, the whole industry is corrupt.
    Not only that but I think the biggest difficulty for female rappers is finding an audience. They have the hard task of appealing to women (a historically low percentage of the fan base due to the inherent aggression and chauvinism in Hip Hop) while also gaining respect from men. Pop stars only appeal to their fans without having to worry about authenticity or Iyrical prowess. No other genre has as much emphasis on tradition and respect for the culture as Hip Hop. Therefore a female rapper have the unfortunate task of appealing to both men and women in a way that doesn't alienate both.
    Damn that was a whole essay.

The most sad thing is the fact that some female rapers are so well known with not as much talent when their are female rappers on CZcams rapping about things for fun( for example on anime rap videos) they have amazing talent in rapping and singing but yet they are not as well know and appreciated as other female rappers😅.

    There are a lot of amazing female rappers out there, the thing is they aren’t well known because record labels or other means of getting exposure expect them to market their bodies. One of my favorite rappers, Apani B Fly, writes and raps very skillfully, but is not at all well known. You might recognize her from some of MF DOOM’s songs. The thing is people expect female rappers to have a certain image (baddie twerk image), rap about certain things (mostly sex). I literally cannot name a famous female rapper that isn’t representative of these things; Cardi B, Nikki Manaj, Doja Cat, Lizzo, Ice Spice, all of them fit that image. I hope things get better for women in the rap game because it’s almost like the only way to succeed as a rapper when you’re a woman, is selling your body.

      Same, I was thinking that. If you listen to songs that go viral on Tik-Tok, they’re all about sex in detail, with no emotion attached to that. However, a point being made that as a male rapper, your looks don’t matter as much as a female one’s does. They literally got on Glorilla because of how her body was formed, because she didn’t have the same curvy body that everyone else had naturally, despite everyone else’s being faked.

    • @reemobrooklyn3557
      @reemobrooklyn3557 Před rokem

      It's not about the girls coming to the forefront to make money, it's about the label USING the girls to make even more money. I guarantee you any money the woman is making, the label is making 5 - 10x more. Ya'll don't realize the label is intentionally over sexualizing you ladies to profit off of you while giving the artist like 2% of the profit. Even Cardi B spoke about that happening with QC. Women are getting pimped out on a higher level but ya'll too focused on being "sexually liberated" to even see it. They are not speaking about it as a man vs woman thing. They literally mentioned all the dope female emcees that won't be superstars because they don't sexualize themselves.

    My favorite female rapper is easily Young M.A, and it's not even close. She has the coldest lyrics, and her she actually raps. Her music videos be fire, and she actually rap about real topics (not taking your man, or twerking). I don't consider her mainstream, but at the same time I also don't consider her underground. She's a independent artists, but I think that actually helps her. The thing that makes her great is the fact that she has a pretty good catalog, and that's something most of the current females artists can't say. Right now she have anywhere from eight to nine huge songs (songs almost everyone would know), and those don't include the smaller freestyles/EP's she does. The biggest knock someone can say about her is the fact that she doesn't release songs as often as other female artist. That being said, between the countless EP's and freestyles she release I think it's enough to balance it out. Again between her videos, lyrics, and her ability to actually rap I think she's easily the best female rapper. Quick sidenote, another female rapper that I enjoy, that isn't as big as other is Snowthaproduct. She goes hard, and like Young M.A she is crazy lyrics. With Snow I really like that she embraces her Mexican heritage in her songs. She is attractive, and she do have a nice body. The thing is she don't use her body as her only tool, I can't remember if I ever seen her twerk in one of her videos. I know she's a west coast/ Cali rapper, so people on the East coast might not know about her. Nevertheless she is a beast, and is better than 90% of most female rappers.

    You don’t even need to make the entire song good. All you need is a single catchy line or a hook at most and you’re set. With the emergence of tiktok and 10 second clips/videos being the main source of entertainment nowadays, all you need is 1 line from your song to blow up and you’ll be all over tiktok, youtube shorts, insta reels, etc. We’re seeing it with Ice Spice. People literally only know her because of that catchy line we all know. But I guarantee not a single person can recite an entire verse from that same song.

    Majority of the big ones I have to look up lyrics because I can't understand, like Desiigner - Panda I still get lost while reading the lyrics and listening due to how much mumbling there is.

    I think what sucks the most about the female "rap" industry is that all of the good ones get buried. Its almost like they have to rap about their bodies and throw their bodies at the screen to gain any recognition. There are plenty of women with some banger lyrics and smooth flows but they don't have the 46lb ass implants like nicki minaj so they dont go mainstream. It always helps a music performer to be attractive, but when it comes to women in rap it seems to be the only thing that people care about which sucks. I can think of plenty of male rappers who dont fit the societal norms of attractiveness but bring some insane bars. I really hope that the women that are actually applying themselves to the genres of rap start to get recognized soon, because we need some mainstream women who can drop lyrics that arent just the same 6 swear words about their stanky genitalia. 😭
