    Thanks for watching! 🐶 How old is your puppy? What does their wake window look like?

    My gsd is 5 months old. She wakes up at 6am, we snuggle for a bit, then she goes potty. Then back in her crate till 7am, when she eats. She has some kind of chew for 15 mins after breakfast, then we do some training, then a potty break, the playtime, then wind down with a licky mat and a chew, then another potty break. Then she takes another nap. She sleeps for about an hour. Then we go out and she goes potty. Then we do a morning walk. Sometimes after a regular morning walk, we do a sniffy walk. We walk for about 20 minutes and do a sniffy walk for 15-30 minutes. She's a working line gsd and needs A LOT of excercise and mental stimulation. We've been working on scent training, hide and seek, and "find it". We're also working with her going up and down our stairs, because she's so big now we can't carry her. She's getting braver about getting into our car and going for short car trips too. So, then after our morning walk, training, and socialization she takes another nap until lunch time. She's awake for about 5-6 hours a day now.

      This sounds great! We love that you recognize her need for exercise and mental stimulation. Those games you mentioned with scent training and find it are so good for doggy brains! She sounds like a great fit for your home!

    Ok so I was under the impression that I can’t take my puppy out until they have all their shots. We don’t have grass expect on our front lawn. Please advise

      Hi Monique. There's a way to take your puppy out safely, which is actually very important. You want to expose him or her to the outside world in a positive way when he is young, which builds confidence with new things for a lifetime.
      This video explains how to do it safely but in a way that is beneficial for the puppy.

    Hello, I'm getting our bernedoodle tomorrow. He's flying with a flight nanny from Kansas. I'm just curious where are you located?

    This is unrelated to the video, but how would you introduce a puppy to cats? I know in other videos you say that it should be a positive experience but I know my cats don’t enjoy the presence or even the smell of dogs very much. Thank you in advance!

      This video can help you with that! Cat treats can help the cats have a more positive association with the puppy.

    My pup is 6 months and our older pup is 17 months. It’s been difficult to train the younger cause the older gets jealous.😏

    • @HowToTrainADreamDog
      @HowToTrainADreamDog  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Dogs don't feel jealousy per-se but they definitely react to a change in the environment, including if you are not able to spend the normal amount of time with them. The puppy definitely needs a quiet environment in order to train. The older dog is a big distraction.

    What was the licking toy she was using before naptime? Where can I buy it?

    • @HowToTrainADreamDog
      @HowToTrainADreamDog  Před měsícem

      It's a fillable toy, like a West Paw Toppl or Kong! The one most similar to that one was the West Paw Toppl - you can get one here: www.howtotrainadreamdog.com/Toppl

    Do you introduce a lead for walking as soon as you start potty training?

    • @HowToTrainADreamDog
      @HowToTrainADreamDog  Před 3 měsíci +1

      You can begin the positive association with the leash and collar as soon as the puppy comes home, but loose leash walking is a skill made up of multiple skills put together, so it's important to go slow and advance only as the puppy is understanding the training.

    What if they poop as u take them back inside ?

    • @HowToTrainADreamDog
      @HowToTrainADreamDog  Před 3 měsíci +1

      You can note that on the schedule and try to stay out a little longer next time. You might try walking around a little more to get the puppy's system moving.
