    You don't have to give me the benefit of anything. This is my dog and I decide what is good for him. I wouldn't make him do anything he didn't want to do. This mill is totally powered by my dog, and he can stop at any time. He was 2 yrs old in this video and is almost 9 now. He is doing great, still enjoys running the mill and is still in great shape. Exercise for animals as well as humans is essential for a healthy mind and body.

    Thank you! He actually loves his flirtpole more than the mill..that is what he is running for. lol. A mill is great for exercise when you cant take your dog outside or in addition to other exercises.

    No, they dont sell used ones. Mine is a red river curley mill. They dont make em anymore.

    He's gorgeous. Kinda like a human bodybuilder. You don't see many dogs in really ripped condition.

  • @scratchindog
    @scratchindog  Před 14 lety +1

    Yes..this is a manual slat mill. It runs under the dogs own speed. He can go as slow or as fast as he wants.

  • @scratchindog
    @scratchindog  Před 13 lety +2

    I dont think they are being made anymore. You will need to find a used one if you can. Not too many are willing to give up their RRC mills.

    You are very responsible to keep him exercised. That is why they bite. They get chained and left for long periods and get frustrated. I wish I had a treadmill for my pitbulls but I have to unfortunately go out for LONG walks and use my indoor spring pole.

  • @scratchindog
    @scratchindog  Před 14 lety +2

    I'm not making him run fast. He runs fast cause he wants to.

    He's an extremely well conditioned Pit Bull and traditionally they aren't supposed to be thick and bulky like then ones you see nowadays. It is pretty amazing how he looks like he could do that all day, my guys would probably be panting after ten seconds ;).

    What is a spike choke? Do you mean prong collar? Why would I use a prong collar on my dog when he's running on the treadmill? That makes no sense.

  • @scratchindog
    @scratchindog  Před 15 lety +1

    The term bulldog is often used instead of pit bull because these dogs are descended from the original bull dogs used for bull and bear baiting. He is not referring to the English bulldog with the pushed in face.

    Please tell me how a malnourished dog could walk let alone run 30 mph on a treadmill and sustain it for more than 2 mins. This dog is fed and conditioned just like a human bodybuilder. He has muscle covering his ribs..not fat like most couch potato dogs..look at his thighs..thick with muscle..he's an athlete and definitely NOT malnourished.

  • @scratchindog
    @scratchindog  Před 15 lety +2

    What makes you think I only run my dog on a mill? Like I said a few posts down, the mill is good for when you cant get outside & in addition to other exercises. It's not the only way to exercise a dog! As for my boy being skinny, you obviously dont know what a conditioned dog should look like. Pit Bulls are supposed to be muscular & lean very much like a greyhound, not short, wide & fat like American Bully's.

  • @bahamutt99
    @bahamutt99 Před 16 lety

    Scratchin, this is one of those times I think its a blessing to own dogs who aren't top-notch gamebred show winners. It must be a pain attracting such moronic comments on your videos. Keep up the good work, of course. And thanks for letting me borrow your vids for my project. :)

  • @bahamutt99
    @bahamutt99 Před 17 lety

    Mills are expensive. You can pay as little as $200 for a carpet mill, or as much as a grand for a slatmill like in this vid. Probably the cheapest option is to get an electric mill out of the newspaper and then teach the dog slowly to walk on it, and eventually jog.

    I read what you said. You said I should take my dog out for a run, as if I dont! Why are you even telling me what I should do with my dog? I'm sure your dog appears to have more muscle mass because of all the fat under the skin. When you look at a conditioned dog like mine there is barely any fat, its all muscle. If you conditioned properly you would know the difference.

    Ok, I dont have time to go back and forth all day with this. I know exactly how to condition a dog so I dont need someone suggesting I take him for a run. If you know about conditioning like you say then you wouldnt train every day and a 3 mile run is nothing to a dog! lol. Anyway, no offense, have fun with your dog.

  • @scratchindog
    @scratchindog  Před 17 lety

    I sure hope your corso is stronger when it is more then twice the weight of an apbt. Pound for pound though it doesnt even compare to a well bred apbt. Work ethic is what really seperates the two breeds....the american pitbull terrier is second to none in that department.

    What the fuck do you know about how I condition my dog? Dont ASSume. I don't need a damn mill to condition my dog. It rarely gets used. I'm outside working this dog almost every day. For you to even think someone can get a dog in this kind of shape with just a mill shows just how stupid you are. But its expected coming from a staffy owner. Why dont you get a real dog like an AMERICAN pit bull terrier. Dumbass.
