I’m on a c.2020 ish era model and it’s amazing. First one after terrible terrible butterfly keyboard. Once that was done. The Mac book Air amazing.

Do you need the two cables connected for two screens? Or can you use a single TB cabled dock station? With two screens connected to the dock then. Cannot find the answer anywhere.

As someone who just bought an M1 air 5 months ago when it was on a killer discount I could not be happier. I think the M1 was just such a huge game changer and a leap forward that people assumed that we would be seeing crazy jumps in performance for the next few generations but most were wrong. The M1 was that revolutionary big jump and a change in technology. Subsequent models are offering incremental jumps and it will remain so until we have another revolutionary change in tech in the coming few years.
I was able to do 3 external monitor on my m1 air, with the use of a displaylink dock for 2 monitors and a dongle for the other, such software limitation is kinda stupid imo, can’t the hardware justify the need to upgrade to a higher model? Why would it have to be the software limiting display output? 😅

I am a graduate student and most of the time I do tons of papers, worksheets, extensive research and some video or audio visual presentations (using Final Cut pro) and photo editing. Which RAM should I get, 16 or 24 GB? with your recommended RAM, I am hoping that the M3 MacBook Air won’t overheat or throttle with the work that I do.
Have a Macbook Pro 2013 Intel.... I've been waiting for a new macbook like the M3 air for a while now.

Still rocking my 2012 MBPro Retina hahahah , its dying, sometimes it just black screens. Definitely ordering a new 2024 macbook. Torn between the new AIR 15" 24mem 1TB and a MBP 14" 18mem 1TB. Its a $400 difference to jump to the M3Pro chip and I get 24GB mem on the AIR for less money.

Rocking a Macbook Air M2 rn. Legit unless they manage to fix heating with newer Cooling systems (Heard about a newer cooling system that is quieter than fans and fit into laptops), I aint upgrading, These guys became the Hottest Macbooks on the planet to the greatest Music making/entry level Production Laptops. The only thing holding it back is thermals (which so far only heats up if I REALLY try to push it)

@@sendmedics exactly! I recently (4-5) months ago picked up an M1 air. It is irresistibly priced in India right now. And for my workload which is basically just browsing and all that kinda stuff it’s plenty fast. Plus the battery life is excellent. So yeah, just like with all Apple devices these days, if you’re looking to save big money and get great value you can always pick the model that one or two years older. And if you wanna show off / have that extra 15-20% edge and don’t really care about spending big money - you can just buy the latest stuff. Hope that helps - coming from a real user of an M1 MacBook Air.
I get around the number of screen limitations simply by using a HDIMI splitter adapter. Two screens no problem.

I've returned my, got a refund and ordered a new M3.
I'm very happy with my Mac M1. The only sad part I'll not be able to upgrade in future If I want to (like Ram & SSD) since apple discontinued the M1 series.
You can't upgrade the M series
They could have used the new technology of the fanless blowers: the flat ultrasound blowers..
and make the screen mechanism 360* for the tablet mode..
and apple pencil support...
and multi OS option (iPadOS+MacOS)
and 512/16GB for the base config.
Those features would have justified the price and the upgrade

Also the m3 airs gets a free gpu upgrade with any ram or ssd upgrade, this was a 100$ option before.
I'll trade up when MBA puts usb-c on both sides of the laptop instead of just the one. there's no need for one side to be devoid of everything but a headphone jack, which not even iPhones have anymore for quite some time
They could've allow to use at least keyboard and trackpad when using 2 monitors. There is no hardware limitation for that

I don’t believe you will see any difference in normal web-browsing between M2 and M3. I literally wouldn’t know why and how my web-browsing could be faster than M2…

Isheeps must be the only people in the world, who can hype up 0 changes. Conclusion: new m3 (wow what a suprise), anti fingerprint coating, better wifi (you probably wont have it or notice it), better ai power and thats it. Took them longer then a year to release this and youre hyping it up? And wow the old products dropped in price, what a great thing. As if that wasnt to be expected.

With lid shut I believe one is 8K and the other monitor is limited to 5K or 6K and which makes things confusing

why is no one mentioning that you can't use a dual screen with a Macbook pro with an M3 chip and you can only use two displays with and MacBook Pro with and m3 pro chip !.. which I just bought and spent 1k extra over this Macbook air
You can also use the laptop display on the M3 Pro, which is not possible on the MB Air M3. So, there are effectively three displays on the M3 Pro -v- and two on the M3.

First you said that you don't recommend anyone to get 8GB of RAM in 2024, but then you say M2 air for 999 is a good deal, even though it's 8GB and a painfully slow 256 GB storage
There are tens of millions of people that are fine with 8GB/256GB, and for them, $999 is an absolute bargain for the M2 MB Air!
@@andyH_England disagree, it was already proven that even doing regular tasks like light photo editing or video editing while using a browser can slowdown the computer. Why buy it for 999 when you can get M1 MacBook Air for way less and 16 gb of RAM? Defeats the purpose. M1 will be faster.
@@elmarcentral 99% of people buying the base model are not doing video editing! For example, my 80-year-old parents use them for browsing, social media and video streaming. The base model handles this with aplomb. If you are casual video editing and using 8GB, then you can still video edit, but you are best to close the browsers for a few minutes whilst you complete that task. Not a big deal and just basic common sense!!!!

I have the most anemic Microsoft laptop and I can connect two displays + laptop. Apple is infuriating in a lot of ways.
The iPad could be a lot better too by adding a desktop UI. Samsung does it, and it’s awesome.

The iPad Pro has Stage Manager, a desktop UI also on the Macs.

I have a 12.9 M1 iPad Pro and Stage Manager sucks. You have not used it clearly, or you’d agree.
I have 34” ultrawide and 27” 1440 monitors at work and works well for productivity with my ms laptop as the third screen.
Apple wants you to waste money on both an IPad for multimedia, MacBook productivity etc.
Samsung’s dex is an all-in-one, something that the iPad could literally be the best at but of course revenue/profits.
It is idiotic that we cannot use the MacBook Air screen as the second screen. Utterly moronic. Sometimes I actually wonder if apple is smart or they are just very good at doing stupid things.

Don't look at those base options, then! They are for people with lower budgets who want to buy a Mac. The 16GB/512GB version is very comparable in pricing to XPS, LG Gram, and Galaxy Book4 Pro.

I was skeptical too, but it doesn't affect the experience at all. Not visible 99% of the time.
Remember - Neural Engine is USELESS. You can't use it for training, you BARELY can code for it - this is basically custom accelerator for Apple models doing Apple functions. Instead of something useful - 16 GB of RAM in basline, full speed SSD, as somebody said in comments ( keyboard and trackbar in 2 external display mode )
If they had a 16GB base, then the prices would rise to what it costs for 16GB now. So I do not see your point?
