    • @Oeleted
      @Oeleted Před rokem +1

      Basic Up was filmed in St-Jean I believe. St-Jean is where you do your Regular Force BMQ. As for the reserves, I’ll only speak on my experience, last month I completed my Primary Reserve BMQ at CFB Wainwright in Alberta. It was only 7 weeks and now I’m MMT with the 38 Service Battalion.
      BMQ is the same for both reg and reserve force only thing that makes a real difference is how long they are. Since my BMQ was only about 7 weeks there was a couple things I wasn’t able to have the chance to do because the course wasn’t long enough so they prioritized other things like the range, gas hut, FTX, first aid, fire fighting, classroom work. You learn a lot more with reg force BMQ because you have twice the amount of time.

      @@crossroads2027 Okay I am a little bit confused about your problems. Let's try to debunk them one at the time.
      1.Any how I was wondering if must learn how to swim before I apply or would they teach me?
      A1: It's definitely not a must, but if you're able to get swimming lessons before your BMQ, It would save you some stress/panic during the swim test. Most recruits are not accomplished swimmer and you will receive training on how to accomplish the test. Hopefully that answer your question.
      2.I am worried about just being another trained gun man type of soldier I want to come back to civilian life and use what I learned in the forces at my job such as firefighting or construction.
      A2: I am a little bit confused here. Most jobs in the forces are not "trained gun man type". Obviously, if you go in a combat career, you will find combat. But, in most fields, you won't find any of that. Air forces and Navy are more open minded trades with less strict environment.

    • @crossroads2027
      @crossroads2027 Před 4 lety +1

      @@mamamia9840 my main concern was the swimming I am having trouble locating someone to train an adult to swim especially during covid. About the whole "gun man type" thing was or is that I don't have much info on the whole career path/ choices in the forces and how to apply for the position. I also do not know any Canadian forces guys who could share their success or otherwise stories.

    • @mamamia9840
      @mamamia9840 Před 4 lety +1

      @@crossroads2027 I wouldn't stress too much on the swimming, cause you will learn on the spot like most of the recruits.
      If you are 18+ or 17 with parents consent, you can apply via the Canadian armed forces website or you can contact one of your recruiting center and they will provide you with all the information you need.
      When it comes down to selecting your career path, I wouldn't let people success and story impact your decision. Any job in the army can be amazing if it fits you.
