  • Hi everyone!
    Hope you are all making sure you are getting into the fish room and just enjoying your fishy friends 🐠
    This video is about dither fish and target fish that are very suited to Rams. This obviously doesn’t include all the amazing varieties of fish out there that are suitable but it does include the ones that I particularly find effective at alleviating aggressive behaviour.
    Hope you all enjoy the video and please LIKE and SUBSCRIBE if you haven’t done so already.
    Cheers!

    Hi Justin. Awesome video as always. My choice of dither fish was pencil fish. My target fish are Sterbai Cory’s. Both species seem to do well in the higher temperatures that rams prefer. And 1 thing to note if you have ever tried black Molly’s as a dither ,I have found them quite aggressive, I added 1 as a dither in my neolamprilogus multifasciatus shelldweller tank, and it decided to actually take on 1 of my pairs, no damages but this molly stands his ground! • @JustinsFishRoom
      @JustinsFishRoom  Pƙed 2 lety +2

      Yes! I wish I had mentioned this in the video. But this is what the target fish are mostly for. Rams need an outlet when something goes wrong or if they have eggs. So, I have definitely found it stops them from eating their spawns especially when other rams are around

    • @JustinsFishRoom
      @JustinsFishRoom  Pƙed 2 lety +1

      I would just keep an eye on them. Make sure they have a lot of plant cover so that they feel safe and that the eggs are hidden. If a pair of rams feels like their spawn in threatened by predation, they will eat their own spawn to conserve the energy and start again. So make sure there is plants galore in your aquarium:)

    • @JustinsFishRoom
      @JustinsFishRoom  Pƙed 2 lety +1

      You could do two pairs if there is enough cover. It also depends on the individual fish themselves. Some Rams are just inherently more aggressive than others. I would get one pair to start with and see what their temperament is like. If they are very peaceful then you can try another pair. I would also suggest to keep a spare tank on standby if you can so that you can seperate the pairs if need be🙂👍
