  • I take you step by step on installing a body lift on a 2000 GMC sierra. This will work for 99 to 07 Chevy and GMC half-ton trucks. The kit I installed was from a junkyard, however, I have a link for those of you that don't want to wait for one to come up at the junk yard.

    Definitely a good video. It's not for my application but I needed the information about about the kit and why I'd need to buy 4 extra bolts to use it on an H2. I only plan on 2". The steering shaft threw me off for a minute but then I remembered mine extends. You also answered the fan question but I don't know if there's a shroud drop bracket kit for the H2 so I'd probably either have to take it out completely or go with the FF DYNAMICS stage 4 electric fan kit I've been wanting which is $460. I can't drive it at highway speeds when it 90 degrees out or more because it overheats so I'll probably go electric.

    I noticed one thing, looks like you cut the rubber gas tank and the plastic filler hose together. I would think the proper method would be to take out the filler plastic tube then cut the rubber hose, and insert the extension then run the filler hose back through.

    Awesome video man,even a dumb ass like myself feels somewhat capable of pulling this off. Quick question; for the moment I'm only installing a 1.5" body lift,eventually I'll probably add a 4" suspension lift,I'm not wanting anything too crazy,just make it look a little more aggressive. Anyways with the 1.5" body lift,do you think I'll have to take everything loose that you did or could I possibly get away with not having to remove and disassemble as much since I won't need to push my cab above the frame as much as you did. I know common sense probably tells me I should do everything you did to play it safe,just wanted your honest opinion on it since you've got experience doing this and I've never done any form of body or suspension lift. Thanks in advance!

    • @bluecollarhowto3489
      @bluecollarhowto3489  Před 5 lety

      Not sure what's all involved for 09, but you will need the shorter body bolts. Not sure what modes were made for the bumpers, then go look at all you brake lines trans lines. Plus there is probably a spacer in the steering column. You will want that out before you bring it down

    • @bluecollarhowto3489
      @bluecollarhowto3489  Před 5 lety +1

      Since I can not look at your truck personally, I would look at the bolts. You could be running out of threads before you are truly tight. try adding some washers. my next thought is under your feet is where you had to reroute your ebrake cables. check those too.

  • @arichavez2972
    @arichavez2972 Před 6 lety

    Hey, so I installed a 3” body lift on my truck and the only thing we had to extend was the steering column, and the gas tank hose. The ground from my fire wall was long enough already that it didn’t need to be extended. But two bolts (not the very first one but the second one. The one right under my foot when I’m driving an the one after that) we couldn’t get to bolt down. So now when I drive it moves when I turn at certain speeds and my brakes are tighter than normal. Can you help me

    • @bluecollarhowto3489
      @bluecollarhowto3489  Před 6 lety

      When I got my body lift I got it from a junkyard. Some of the bolts had to be cut off. I went to Lowes to get some new ones. IF I remember right they were 12 x 160 mm. So you may need some longer ones, or the puc may be off center a little so your bolt is not hitting the hole. Your brake lines should be fine. That is why they are in a coil so they can move when the body flexes. Just stretch the coils out some and you should be fine. I hope this helps if not go ahead and ask whatever you need to and I will do my best to help you.

    • @arichavez2972
      @arichavez2972 Před 6 lety

      Blue Collar How To thank you that helps. I’m just so worried about it causing some kind of damage to my truck but no one else will listen to me. Since two pucs don’t have bolts in them I feel like when I turn and the body tries to lift up a little, it causes it to shift a little bit and that’s what the noise is. I have 12 of 14 bolted so my boyfriend says it’ll be fine but I’m still worried

    • @bluecollarhowto3489
      @bluecollarhowto3489  Před 6 lety

      Your fears are legit. the body could flex enough especially if you do offroad, to loos those pucks with no bolts. especially under the body. I would definitely try to get some bolts in there if lowes cant help you find a bolt specialty store.
