I am here, a victim (or beneficiary?) of the CZcams algorithm which turned me on to your evangelion videos. My story on the Eva front is similar to yours. Started with Rebuild, finished confused. Went to NGE for clarity, left confused but extremely entertained. Decided I wanted to share this with my roommate so we went through NGE then Rebuild together and now he's confused and I'm obsessed.
I'm not all the way through your series on it thus far but I'm home sick today with nothing to do so I'll be finishing it no doubt.
Your presentation of ideas in the videos I've seen so far remind me of a CZcamsr named Sideways. He did what you did in the analysis of cinematography but with soundtrack, analyzing what it meant when what score was used where. He made me think very seriously about score in media and i started to analyze it myself when consuming media. I hope what you're teaching me in these videos allow me to start doing the same thing.
I am so enthralled by the detail that people like you and sideways are able to pull from, what to others, is just another scene in a film, or another song overlaying that scene. Obviously, you know that in good, artful storytelling, things happen for a reason. A song is played in certain scene for a reason, a color or shot is used in a scene for a reason. I believe the same to be true in life. There are no coincidences and everything occurs to orchestrate a purpose.
I am most definitely subscribed now and i hope you succeed and grow.

Pretty cool video. I'm in a similar position on most forms of art (music, drawing, storytelling) but I'm yet to put extreme effort in to any specific one of these so I'll see what ends up happening.

Idk if you remember me, but I commented on your first Evangelion video. I was in a really terrible mental state then. I’m not out of the woods yet but I’m doing a bit better. You spoke in this video, and I’m paraphrasing here, about wanting to create art that has grit but doesn’t wallow in ugliness. That is very relatable to me. Ever since I watched The End of Evangelion, I’m terrified of going to dark places in art. I’m worried that I’ll go back to the self-destruction found in that one comment I made on your first eva video. So I’m scared of the darkness, but I also fear that what I make will become pointless if I include none. I don’t know what to do. I’ve built up this mystical fear of Evangelion in my head. Maybe I should rewatch the show to get myself over it. Or maybe I could just watch your videos. I think I like you. I think your videos could heal me. You don’t seem like someone who revels in being “smarter” than anyone else. You seem like someone with passion. I want to speak to my therapist about all these things I’m feeling but it’s all so abstract and specific. I’m seriously lost. I keep coming back to your replies and I feel a faint sense that I’ll be okay. I’m seriously unsure if I should embrace Evangelion or reject it entirely. I think the latter is impossible as I’m strangely drawn to it at times. It’s a popular anime. I’m going to see it. If I live in fear of it forever, then my life is going to be hell. I think I should actually try and listen to what someone with passion thinks about the show. It’s hard because I’m really pissed off at Evangelion for scarring me. Why does it feel like no one else has ever felt this way? I’m a lonely person watching a lonely series and having a lonely experience with it. I think in your video you said a second watch was pretty cool? I think you also told me that your first watch you didn’t think it was anything special. Maybe I’m not completely alone. I’ve joked about this in my mind but it’s unfortunately true: for months now I have been trying to find an Evangelion fan that hates Evangelion. Someone who watched and understands everything and came out disliking it. It’s not gonna happen. I’m looking for companionship in someone that I don’t even relate to. I hate what Evangelion did to me, there are PARTS of Evangelion that I hate, but I don’t hate Evangelion. I love the stuff episode 16 and beyond. I love the one alien that pees acid. I love the fact that kids in mech suits is taken seriously as a mentally scarring thing. I actually ended up relating to Asuka despite how much I disliked her for a while. Because I now have trauma with Evangelion, it’s really hard for me to remember anything about it. My brain is shutting it all out. There’s nothing I should be afraid of. If I like it more than I did previously, cool. It doesn’t make me dumb for not liking it previously. Opinions change. I’m probably gonna keep hating the stuff I hate about Evangelion, and that’s fine too. It isn’t perfect and it was never going to be. People who ignore the imperfections aren’t thinking about Evangelion as much as I do. Who’s really the bigger fan? Haha.
Yeah I think I’ll watch your Evangelion series. I did watch the show, technically, so it wouldn’t be spoiling it for me. I should just jump in. I hate having this terrible amnesia so maybe I can shed it off with your art.

"That which cannot be objectively graded but can be objectively analyzed" doesn't sound like a terrible definition of art IMO
I completely agree. As he also says in a later video, "art is subjective" can only be a defensive claim.
No art is subjective. It's dynamic and flexible and boundless, but constantly relative to itself if not others. Much like those who create it.
