Would have liked to hear why you prefer the bl3 over the others.
Rainbow fry are really small.
I think waiting until they are a few weeks old would be a good idea before trying them in these boxes.

The fry can swim out through the vent so you need to stuff sponge or floss in that air compartment. The model shown is the BL-3 with the mesh bottom but I personally believe the BL-2 is superior with the plastic bottom, that way when you remove the box you wont drain all the water; there will be a centimeter of water left where your fry can still swim during transportation or cleaning.

That is an awesome "baby box" as I always called them :) I love the water movement channel, even with open sides water doesn't flow through too well, so that's a nice feature.

These also have a little adjustable peg that sticks out from the black section on the bottom, so you can level it even if your aquarium lip wants it to sit at an angle. Excellent product.

The possibilities of how to use that Ziss breeder box connection ring when available could make for a great video. Looking forward to purchasing the connector when available and having that option
Unfortunately Ziss tells me they have discontinued that option due to it being a weak point in the design.

Just be careful with the airstone slot on the side of box because the fry could find their way through the slots and in to the aquarium.

Nano air pump isn't for long term use. Going threw 4 sellers I'd say 6-8 months each one slowly died But they are super quiet I'll say that

This looks good for inside a tank but i still prefer a hang on the side one much easier to feed if your using lids
Hi Dean and Cory, have you tried this breeder box on Japanese Ricefish? i took Dean’s recommandation to do the 5 gallon paint strainer with the backer rod setup. But the strainer screen don’t last long. Would the Ricefish fry swim out of the screens? please let me know... Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

Seems pricey compared to some breeder boxes, but they say you get what you pay for! This seems like it would be really handy for some of my Synodontis Petricola fry right now.

Is the mesh too large for any breeds such as Ram fry? I just got it and am using it for some Cory Fry I have and wonder if the mesh bottom is too abrasive? Seems like it could rub them and allow an infection
If the waterflow in the aquarium is good enough, is it really needed to connect it to the air? With the 3 screens, I suppose water flow inside will be slow but sufficient to get enough oxigen to the fry?

Good design overall, but I wish there was a narrower one that would still provide enough swimming room for fry while not being so intrusive.

Can you hatch eggs from a spawning mop in this box if you want to breed egg scattering fish and do not have room for a breeder tank? Would you hatch them in a tray and then add them to the box? Or are these breeder boxes mainly for livebearing fish?
Does this work with hatching eggs? Or will the eggs slip out?
When putting fry in the box and few days of feeding how do you clean the box
Are the screens small enough to contain baby brine shrimp. If so game changing product!
They make another model with a finer screen that should do it, look for BLT-2 "Fine Mesh".
How many fry can you put in this 🐠
If raising fry in a BL3 and feeding live baby brine, it would appear the LBB would not stay in the BL3 for the fry to graze on, or am I missing something?
Curious - are you actually able to join 2 (or more) together? I know the OLD versions of the BL-2 you could, but not any of the new ones??
Ziss has discontinued the feature as they said over time it become a stress point and would crack.
So when he says about being able to put two of them together (at abt the 0:26 mark) this was/is not the case then?

Good point. I guess his fry system is only built on one tank so maybe his application would be for when he runs out of tray room he can easily throw a breeder box in any tank he likes
@@smilebehappy6102 that's my point tho. It's easy to set up for people and to throw into a tank. Rather than building a fry system like Deans.
His is much more accessible i feel. This box is massive.
Does the stainless steel on the bottom come off? So you can let the fry fall through when they're born.

Are the grates spacing small enough to keep the Rasbora and Danio fry in there? that's the biggest problem I had with the blue plastic breeder boxes.
That's what I am interested in as well!!
It has the metal mesh on the bottom, and then a protective plastic grating to protect possible eggs from being eaten through the mesh by sucker type fish. So baby fish shouldn't be able to fit anywhere.
@@Charlie-zt8ei right, it's the metal mesh i'm worried about, a lot of the fry i'm breeding are size of an eyelash.

Yes understood the bottom thing. But is the mesh still tight enough for little fry, like the mentioned rasboras etc, which swims to the side meshes?
