  • I would like to say a massive thank you to Senzeal for picking my channel to review their isolation breeding box.
    After reviewing the product I found it very easy to put together and install in the aquarium. It also worked extremely well and held the fry very secure in the bottom chamber. Here are the links for the isolation breeding box below. A fantastic product for the price.
    Here's the link to the box.

      Try feeding peas. The restricted space in the box reduces the ability to pass waste. Peas help with that. Boil peas briefly and sqeeze them out of their skin. My guppies love them and i feed heavily pregnant fish peas frequently to prevent constipation.

    I used a different one and my female platies hated being in the breeder box, stressed the poor gals something terrible. Instead, I set up a birthing tank with lots of plants--fake and read, mini breeding mops for cover so the moms can't eat them so quickly. Both gals were happier when they gave birth just a few days ago. And, yes, many of the babies survived, too. We're feeding them the infusoria brew, which Mark demonstrated, along with crushed super fine flake.

    I use my breeder box to isolate any fish that needs special attention like extra feed, or is being bullied and stressed. When they look good again they can return to the tank. I always float some greens inside too. Right now I have a culled deformed runt from a brood of GBRam fry in there. I will add anymore that look deformed.

      Yeah.. my molly gave birth, turned around super fast and ate the fry before he could sink to the bottom. With my guppy it worked much better! I also had a bit of java moss with the mum. That might have helped.

  • @fisharefriends598

    I’m not a fan of those, i prefer a mountain of moss... but if I do use them, I cup the fish in, hand feed and release.

    • @MARKSAQUATICS

  • @pondguru
    @pondguru Před 5 lety +1

    Good stuff and it would definitely take an age to make something like that - with so much of the decent gear available now it's not really worth DIY'ing it as there's a wealth of good products for very little money.
    Just got a All Pond Solutions HOB-500 filmed yesterday so I'm going to try and get that edited ASAP as it's a really impressive HOB canister for a stupidly low price. I reckon that will become a very popular filter with people wanting good filtration (once it is set up properly) and minimal financial outlay.

    I just let mine drop their fry in the tank - lots of moss and hiding spots. I know that I will not be able to rehome them if my population gets out of control - breeding fish for profit doesn't really work in Australia as we cannot sell fish on ebay and our population isn't big enough for there to be lots of buyers. I do the same with my mbuna for the same reason. And there are always a handful that survive and are not eaten.
