I feel like Candace is one of those cases where the character is missing the one thing that makes them work. When Childe came out we were running him on Wanderer's Troup because the Heart of Depth wasn't out yet. People complained about Shinobu, though it's clear now she was just waiting for dendro. I feel like at some point we're going to get a new artifact set or a new character that makes her really useful.
I think, like Kuki, or Sara for that matter, Candace won't ever be really useful. She's a bit too niche, too limited compared to other options. She has the huge hurdle of Xingqiu existing to clear, and for most teams, she won't clear that. At best, she might get to be useful (and even then, less so than pre-dendro Kuki). But, well, with an ever increasing roster of characters, we'll get more and more that have that as the best they will achieve. And that's fine, as long as people are having fun.
That might be true but I don't think Childe is a good example at all. Heart of Depth is not what made him good, it's not even very far ahead in terms of damage compared to a 2 piece mix. What made him suddenly good is people figuring out the best way to use him.
@@Axterix13 idk but im still hopeful because I rlly love candace as a character so im rlly hopeful they’ll find her own niche like kuki or whatever. She has potential but it feels like our character roster right now isn’t suitable for her but she might be useful to someone in the future. The best i could think of candace’s purpose rn honestly is hydro razor in an electric charge comp lol
but why would they release a character that doesn't work immediately? Kuki was clearly waiting for dendro, but what about Candace? Her only options are a new artifcact set (unlikely coz she's a 4 star) or upcoming character that has synergy with her
The problem with childe is most ppl didn’t know how to use him, all they see is long countdown and instantly go ‘BAD’.

Love her design so much. Sadly her kit doesn't really shine anywhere, but I've been using her in a fridge team with Kazuha/C6 Diona/DMC with Kazuha as the hydro driver and found relative success with it.

Yeah, seeing this video really disappointed me. Did not think she would be this underwhelming
Candace honestly feels like a split-scaling character, a new Xinyan. She had good multipliers, but needs ATK for that and was given a low base attack. So she isn't meant to specialize in Normal and Physical damage while having supplemental hydro application when she's off-field.
But if you go all HP%, she now lacks any purpose for her own Normal attacks, reducing her utility as a counter-based character because now you never want her on the field so it can be used.
She's built like she was intended to have the flexibility of Rosaria or Beidou, but then crippled at the last minute.
I use her with childe, Yunjin and Bennett to make hyper carry childe

best part is that this game will never have an endgame so you can just build for fun, meta is pointless and a waste of energy.
I agree. I tend to gravitate towards Sevy's guides coz it's detailed enough without being too overwhelming.
Candace's biggest issue is the character switch damage during the burst. To get the full use of her burst you have to use her burst before anyone else or you are missing out on potential damage, this also means you miss out on time to use normal attacks for elemental damage increase on normal and the hydro infusion as you spend some time going through your rotation and setting off other bursts, the issue gets worse on 5 stars with longer burst animations. They partially off-set it by having the infusion last 15 seconds but that does mean you have a very tight window of execution.
I don't know if i'd call it an issue, i think its more that we just don't have many teams that synergise well with that part of her kit yet
Well it comes down to player choice. Do you want her to dmg or be a buffer? In this case you can’t have both unless you’re running c6 with her.

What I love the most about Candace gameplay-wise is when I discovered (but should've seen to coming) that the shield bash from her N2 and partially charged E can break regular ores while her fully charged E can break the shiny rare ones. Small stuff like this helps me from switching into a claymore, Zhongli, or Razor for farming ores randomly in the open world.

Oh! I had indeed not thought of that at all yet, but since I use my kokomi as a dps the normal attacks would indeed get stronger. It's a nice idea I give you that. The only problem for me would be my well build Yelan, Yelan's raw damage accompanying kokomis attacks will probably always be much more than the relatively small bump in kokomis damage...
@@lynn9265 right. I haven’t seen any comparisons (yet), but if one has a Yelan I bet she would be better at buffing Kokomi’s personal damage. It does go to say that Yelan is a 5* while Candace is a 4* and is thus more accessible. Additionally, someone simply might not like Yelan and doesn’t want to pull for her (like me) but loves and has Candace to use instead.

@@TMithu as long as Kokomi is the driver, sure, why not? You can make whatever kind of team floats your boat, it doesn’t matter how efficient it is :)
Where using Candace with Kokomi would make the most difference is in a team built purely to push Kokomi’s personal damage to the max. For example the team I use for that is Candace, Yun Jin, and Kazuha. A C2 Xingqiu isn’t as viable for Kokomi’s damage if you already have an Anemo VV unit in your team, as the hydro res shred from VV is so high that Xingqiu’s C2 isn’t going to add much more on top of that, hence why Candace is more viable here.
General rule for which hydro support for Kokomi is: want higher overall damage? Xingqiu/Yelan for off field dmg. Want kokomi herself to do more damage? Candace/Yelan

i have the same feeling as with yunjin, i would totally love to use them but i have not the unit's where they would shine. So it's kind of a sad situation. :/
Same. If I had Yoimiya or Ayato, I'd be rocking both Yunjin and Candace because I like their kits. But at the moment I just use Candace for my hyperbloom team in abyss if I need my XQ or Yelan in the other team.
Just build her anyway dude, YunJin herself can be an okay dps, but
IMO, using her in coop is really great, you give the basic atk boost to EVERYONE
she is such a underrated chr for coop, that's really sad cuz she is really strong there

Maybe it's just me, but I kinda wish Candace also had a taunt mechanic in co-op where everytime she uses her skill, it makes all the enemies focus on her since she's a tank
I noticed her normal attacks were slow when i did her test run at first luckily I have a skyward spine collecting dust and i noticed her normal attacks got quicker because of the passive :D
I noticed that too during the test run especially when she throws her polearm. I think candace is the first one that can do that

I don't get why they just don't add some HP scaling to her normal attacks but it's clear they don't want to do that for 4 stars. It really sucks that they end up with these conflicting kits though
@@aalzien722 Because it would at least make her entire kit work with itself. Reddit boy doesn't need the scaling, he can be a solid dps if you build him for it as is and he's the most broken character in the game regardless. All the newer 4 stars are built on extreme niches and it's kind of needless, they should at least be reasonable useable all around. For a character the story builds up as a strong defender of her village, using her in the trial and hitting 600 was kind of laughable
I'm building DPS Candace and it's kinda based. A good use of the heart of depth pieces I didn't have anyone for.
Same here. I don't like Tartaglia so I slapped my 4p HoD on Candace and put her with Yelan/Xiangling/Bennet. Sure, it's still basically National and this team can carry anyone, but I see Candace's numbers here and she's pulling her weight just fine, even if she's not fully leveled yet.
I'd say she's very fun to play with good enough results but definitely wouldn't recommend her to anyone who must count every primogem and XP book.

Just sharing something amazing in Candace's normal attack that I've accidentally pulled off.
If you hit the shield bash attack on a Frozen target, it can do a Shatter dmg. Even the tap version of her Elem Skill, it still does Shatter. Here I thought that only claymores and explosions can do Shatter, but with polearm normal attack? Only Candace can.
I think people tend to miss that her passive gives another 20% to normal attacks too if her HP is big enough.. That's 40%.
yeah i dont understand why people shitting on her when her passive to boost na is there, means that so many character with normal atk now will have bigger damage, while procing reaction instead of bennet who just buff only
yeah, that's one aspect of her that I like, just got her so haven't build her yet, but I really want to try building hyper carry yoimiya comp with her, with bennett, yunjin, and candace.
That's good except Yun Jin just has better scaling overall with NA and her burst duration is 15 sec without needing C1..

I love her design so much! I've put her in my current hyperbloom team to explore Sumeru which is certainely not her best team but has been fun for me. Miko and Kokomi drop their skills, Candace infuses Lumine's NA, and Lumine becomes her own bloom dps using two elements at the same time lmao. Also Candace has the Kitain cross spear just because ~fashion~. They won't clear the abyss but for exploring they're doing the job! I'm looking forward to all the new characters, dendro has been such an amazing addition to combat and it's exciting to see that Candace's best teammates are probably yet to come!
At this point I try not to worry too much when a new character doesn't seem great. It seems like this game is always planning ahead, and eventually finding ways to make all of them shine somewhere eventually.
And since 99% of content doesn't require them to be anyway, it's not all that crucial ultimately, and that gives you the opportunity to try really weird shit without real consequence.
True. Guides for new players are still mentioning getting the big 5 of 4 star characters anyway so unless they're really impulsive in the gacha, they shouldn't be worrying too much about the new characters and their place in the meta anyway. At this point it's only the old players worrying too much on a new character's place in the meta when most probably they have like 5 meta teams fully built and can clear the abyss floor a minute or less each already lol. I wouldn't praise mihoyo because they are still susceptible to fk ups but they know exactly what they are doing. Be it in the right or wrong reasons.
Xinyan, Amber and Aloy are still useless two years later. Are they really planning that long ahead to make those three even 1% above trash ?
I love your guides. You are so realistic for regular players while also giving everyone a chance to enjoy whichever build they choose.
If her burst wasn't so short, maybe she'd be more viable, but as is, I'm hoping for an artifact set that extends burst duration now.
It's a good idea but can also be dangerous cuz every single character will have access to that set

Its sad no one mentioned her with any EM razor team (hyperbloom / taser / etc ) they work so well together.
Well I'm sure some will be able find use cases for her eventually. The community is still doom posting right now and if the character can't do the mechanics she obviously isn't meant to play as, they won't touch her for even a second.
I've always wanted a new hydro applicator since all my other Hydro units are already maxed out friendship-wise. I'll definitely have fun using her along side DMC, Fischl and the latest addition to my Archon roster: Venti. Thaks as always for the awesome guide. Love your work.
She's one of the characters that I wanted to pull for aesthetic and not for use. 😅 I feel like her burst works well with Thoma.

I've been simping for Candace when i first saw her drip marketed official artwork. Now that i've had time to play with her and build her i'm having a blast using her in combat. I especially like teaming her up with Kaeya Dendro Traveler and Fischl. Using hyperbloom and combining it with the crazy perma freeze of Kayea's burst and Candace's hydro infusion burst is awesome!

I had a HP% noblesse lying around and I think the shield is just cool. So I'm using her for now. Experimenting with new characters is the most fun. Maybe even more so if they aren't the strongest.
I’ve used her on my Beidou carry team. It’s obviously not meta but I like how she works with her and Fishcl as support/battery. The infusion is nice it’s aftershocks and her burst as well as oz doing his thing. Last spot is probably any swirl you want
So far the most success I got out of Candace was being the hydro slot on a Hyperbloom team. Will need more time to test out what else she can be used at.

I have watched so many guides and have read so much guides in forums and i play this game since release date to know what to do for any characters and all about my final thoughts for "perfect" builds are a MUST to listen your objective guides in the last step before i decide to build a character. heh because when i saw first time one of your guide a year ago it was like this thoughts: "wow this girl must be the most red pilled of the whole Genshin Community" xD you are doing a very good job for objective use of the game resources to maximse every aspect of dmg and comps ^^ i didn't see the same on the other guides like this objective level. well. And i love it when you talk not to fast. its so relaxing me to flow of your speech xD
I think she shines in teams with no main dps, she can apply hydro with her ult and tank while the others deal damage off-field, like Collei+Kuki
The best thing about Candace is that her shield can one shot rocks with her 2nd auto
I got her to c6 and she's pretty fun. When her c6 is active with kokomi or Ei on the field it's pretty awesome

I've personally really like using her on a beidou tazer team with beidou, yae, Koko , and Candice and it's pretty fun when you have beidou applying hydro and electro with EM candace
four piece Heart of Depths is kinda good on her as it increases her Normal attacks by 30 percent after using her skill so she could use her burst and skill and get more two normal atk buffs

Surprised nobody is talking about taser keqing, she has a great weapon choice in lion's roar that buffs hydro and electro, mistsplitter and jade cutter are still amazing too, and you can build her with double 2-piece atk% with an atk goblet instead of electro. So you can apply hydro with her normals, use ability to apply electro, then use a few normals again and reactivate ability for more electro. Then normals then ult then normals again
Since Aggrevate Keqing is better. Candace overrides Keqing's infusion so she's not good with her

Hi Sevy! I was trying Candace out and I think I found a super fun swap team! I call it the Favonius Flower Soup, and it consists of Candace, Dendro MC, Kuki, and Thoma. Everyone has a favonius weapon to battery each other, you get the swap damage from Candace while allowing anyone else to become the hydro drivers for bloom flowers
Finally some candace content. I feel like all new genshin impact videos are all of cyno right now.

Despite Yunjin being a Normal attack buffer/support, I built my Yunjin for Physical DPS, and I loved her! I've done the same thing with my Candace, giving her 2 sets of 2 piece artifacts that give 25% Physical damage bonus, as well as a Polearm with Physical Damage Substat, and so far, she's pretty damn fun to play and use! Although, I might swap one of my 2 set artifacts with a the 2 piece Milicent set for the HP bonus, just to see if it boosts her shield counter attack
I use her hydro infusion so I can use cool normal attack animations. Right now im running hydro dps shinobu and its honestly so fun.
I think she's an amazing open world character. I put her together with Qiqi, Kuki and an Anemo character. The result is nice and that no one character is really a main dps. And the Qiqi Kuki combo allows for Candace to have some amazing fun with her E skill and her Q. I think she is another sleeper character that Hoyoverse knows is going to become more important as future characters roll out.

I pulled 80 for ONLY Candace. I got two 5*, four 4* and ONLY one Candace.... I didn't even want the Electro 5* or the Dendro rabbit 5*.
I pulled like 110 and I only got one Kuki, Cyno, c2 Jean, one Candace and 8 constellations for Sayu. According to stats on paimon moe's site, you are less likely to get Candace than the other 2 4* characters. It has been a very petty banner. I have tried to get her c1, but I always get a Sayu constellation or a 4* weapon, what a mess.

I'm in love with her since first day banner I got her. It's OK if not really powerful. She's sooo beautiful. I play all the time with her in open world 😻💖😘
The Zhongli Archaic Petra build made me think of using Yun Jin with Candace: Can their respective damage buffs stack? I could even see a 4 polearm team: Xiao as a very rare "primary DPS attacker + VV swirl" role for him, Yunjin to buff normals and provide AP's buff, Candace to buff normals and infuse the team with hydro, and Zhongli for shield + res stripping. The team rotation goes in reverse order from Zhongli, with Yunjin swapping in and using her burst and skill to also make a hydro shard for the AP buff besides her normal effects, then Xiao alternates swirling with his skill and then laying on with normal hits. Could be fun at least? Would Candace + Yun Jin be more effective than one of them and a second element for reactions? No idea.
edit: Kazuha would probably be better than Xiao for that first slot role, you wouldn't feel as much like "I'm deliberately wasting this character's potential," but Kazuha doesn't use a polearm so he doesn't fit in with the team. rip Kazuha (that's what you get for never dropping when I pulled for you argh)
I’ve had a good time using her and Rosaria. It’s pretty quick to juggle Rosaria’s skill and Candace’s tap skill, and the hydro infusion pairs well with Rosaria’s burst. I have a budget permafreeze team that’s pretty good on my AR 35 alt.
On my secondary acc I haven't had much luck with hydro units, but loved her design and high stagger combos. Atm I'm using a flex zhong hyperbloom team with collei and kuki (idk why, but the is smoother and does more DMG with collei but idk) I use Candace as main DPS and it's really solid surprisingly. Kinda nice to be able to swap to your supports mid burst to re up, and that teams clearing everything I want it to pretty easily.
I hope Hoyo release a 5 star character that gets extra crit stats if he/she has an elemental infusion on the normal attacks. Candace and Chongyun will get some usage if such character exists.

I wouldn't count on that. If hoyo ever releases a dps that benefits from infused attacks it will for sure have some form of self infusion (otherwise it'd be rated an incomplete character) making Candace reduntant or at least worse to YunJin. That's why characters that work centered at infusing other's attacks rarely make it close to meta tiers
I’m trying to build her as a dps and so far 2pc heart of depth and 2pc noblesse is working well for me so far with hp%/hydro/crit, thanks for this vid not many ppl are making candace guides
Her burst damage is really bad so I recommend 4 heart of depth instead :)

I really love the idea of using her infusion with Xiangling so she can vape her own pyronado, but there are obviously more efficient teams to pick for better damage. I probably won’t use her in the abyss yet, but it’s fun to play around with in the open world. If nothing else, it’s taken me back to the early days when my world level was too high for my unbuilt characters and I was trying to figure out how to synergize the few good chars I actually had.
I found her niche in quickswap Hyperbloom:
Keqing (Mistsplitter) / Collei (Stringless) / Baizhu (BP Jade) / Candace (with the fontaine craftable polearm).
You can use Keq as hydro applicator and create blooms with Collei's ring passive, then remove the hydro infusion with the stilletto.
Baizhu can refuel Candace's burst just by healing her while she is off-field or if she's picking flowers in overworld.

it’s true that candace’s kit is not too optimal, but let me just say this, I tried using a candace + keqing + dendro mc + kuki team, and it’s suprising pretty good lol, the hyperblooms are really op

Thank you for this guide! I found that for Ayato specifically, she can work a bit better than Yun Jin, because Yun Jim has a certain amount of stacks of buff. It will still show her flags surrounding the character but the buff will be complete. Normally this doesn’t run out in single target, but in AoE it runs out pretty fast. Candace doesn’t have a set amount of buff stacks so you could say this is a niche for her within a niche
I got her and I'm using her in a team with Raiden, Jean and Yelan and honestly she's really fun in that combo. Her burst is always up and she supports Raidens burst pretty well.
Also since her skills are basically unimportant to level and HP is the only thing that's important, she is fairly easy to build. I can understand why many think she is weird and not very strong but for me she is a fun unit to use (but only in certain teams)
Does Raiden's burst count as "elemental normal attack" in this case? Like do you know if she gets the 20% boost?
@@choufleur96 I have the feeling that it does. But I haven't checked the numbers. I can test it out with the new boss and then I'll be able to answer your questions.
Normally I defeat it easily within one rotation before it can do anything. If I'm not able to do it without her, than I'll know that she works with her.
@@choufleur96 No, they do not count as normal attack. That is also the reason Beidou's burst cannot be triggered by it.

I really hope she becomes a meta 4 star character in the next year bc she is one of the coolest looking characters in the whole game. Her attacks look great, her kit is like a worst YunJin so I'm hoping they give her an limited time weapon that gives her a lot of HP/ER and maybe even have a similar affect as Staff of Homa with the HP increase and HP perc that increases ER perc and all ER perc converts to EM. Thats wishful thinking but it's totally possible to make her a weapon that could make her one of the best four stars
I'm experimenting on various comps woth Candace. One team is a Hydro Xiangling composing of Xiangling, Candace, Yun Jin and Sucrose. This team creates Vape and buffs Xiangling's NAs.
Another one is Candace is the on-field DPS with Electro-Charge team. Candace, Beidou, Yun Jin, and Shinobu.
I like playing Candace. As of now there isn't really a snug-fit team for her utility but that doesn't hinder us from having fun.
I've actually been building her in a taser team with Beidou, and it's a lot of fun for me
element application on normal attacks is always fun :D
I’ve been using her as an on-field Bloom Driver while Shinobu acts as an off-field Hyperbloom Main DPS. I have Venti and Collei in the other slots, and it’s definitely interesting

I love getting weird characters like this. I do wonder if we are getting an artifact set or weapons focused on elemental infusion since it seems like we have gotten a few hints that elemental infusion may start playing a larger part.
As a razor main that is too lazy to keep building Xinque, the Hydro application to Razors normal attacks during the burst's duration does open for builds such as a Hyperbloom/ shatter build.
I was hoping for more infusion units like Chong and c6 Benny. Happy there doing it more but personally I feel like she's better attempted as carry for fun more then anything else. But that's my impression

Candace is fun. I'm using her with the setup I used on my Hu Tao almost - Homa, 2-pc hydro (instead of pyro), 2-pc Emblem, hp% sands, hydro% goblet, crit rate% circlet. Using her alongside Collei, Kuki, and Kazuha and just rotating skills and bursts and shielding with Candace~~~
I haven't had much experience with her and I've been shoving her in any team I'd put Xingqiu in, and although they definitely aren't interchangeable, they're similar in form and function. You'll get the hydro damage application on both their Elemental Bursts, but I've noticed since Rain Swords attacks only in the general direction of the target, it doesn't have 100% accuracy, and the window where it messes up can matter in some situations. When your team just deals hydro damage on attack, you're constantly doing those hydro based reactions at a higher rate per second. That time can matter. I'm not creating a case where Xingqiu to be thrown to the wayside here, because his kit is insane, but definitely you get a different kind of flow with Candace's elemental burst. I think it unlocks different kinds of potential. Heck I haven't even tried dendro with her yet and I'm of this opinion.
Feel like she may have some good synergy with bloom teams just for extra hydro apps while swaping thru and some hydro autos on dmc maybe. Want to make use of her. Struggling tho
