Aww, the title of the video made me so happy 🥺🥰 I can honestly say, taking the time to sit down and talk to my parents and actually learn about their cultures have really helped me rebuild my broken relationship with them and see things in a whole new perspective! I remember butting heads with them so much especially during my high school years.. they gave me no freedom and I rebelled against them constantly but I’m almost 30 now and finally understand why they were so strict and protective 😭 It also helps that I’m a mom myself now so I see everything from a parents’ point of view ❤️

Family history is so important! My grandpa tells the same stories about his life (from start to finish) all the time haha but if he never did, his grandchildren would never know our origins and his hard work to get to where he is today. ❤️

Old family photos give me life ♥️ My parents also got married in the 80s and my mom had a friend do her makeup and had never worn heavy makeup before. My dad said he didn't even recognize her when she walked in 😂😂

It has been over 9 months people cannot freely travel between HK and mainland China due to the pandemic situation in HK. I hope I can see my family in Guangzhou very soon!

We have a very similar family history. Lol my dad is also Chinese, born and raised in Vietnam. He came to Canada as a refugee in the late 80s. Some of my uncles went to Hong Kong. My mom is also from Guangdong, China... lol
Your family history is similar to mine! Both my parents were born in VN but ik our lineage does connect with Chinese. But my parents are very traditional, so I’m not quite sure if we are full chinese. Very cool to hear your family history Weylie! Thanks for sharing!

Hi weylie!! If you don’t mind, I have a suggestion if you open another sustainable MTO clothing in the future. I made an order from the last collection and am on 4 weeks waiting to just track my order. Having realized I might be waiting another month for my order to arrive, it’ll be a completely different season by then. I fully support slow fashion and I would like to shop this way however, because of the wait time, the current collection should be made for the next season. I have to change the outfit idea I had in mind when I purchased the piece because I didn’t take into account that it might be Christmas when it arrives😅

Hi Weylie, did you get size small in regular or petite for the Sweater Pullover? My body structure is about the same as yours, but I’m 5’2”. I usually get xs in almost all my clothing so not sure is small would be too big

That's so weird I had never heard of L.L Bean until recently! Was looking into buy for life recommendations and L.L Bean kept getting mentioned as a good quality brand that lasts.
LL Bean is like Eddie Bauer but less fashionable. They are more for older people.
genetics are super interesting! i always thought i was 75% viet and 25% some type of white (because my dad is half white and half viet and my mom is full viet) but then i took an ancestry test this past month and turns out i am 67-75% viet, 17% scottish, 7% dai, and the rest is randomly scattered across europe! super interesting for me!!
Oo I feel like I have a similar story! My grandmother on my dads side is Chinese but adopted in Vietnam and my grandfather on my dads side was a Chinese person living in Vietnam. So my dad was convinced that he was 100% Chinese. But his youngest brother took a dna test and it turns out that he is like 25% Việt and the rest Chinese. And my mom is 100% Việt. Or so she says... but they met in San Jose :))

I've tried to before, but I'm super emotional and have lots of anxiety when talking to them, and I haven't really tried to since. How do you open up or have them open up? Open question
Cassey Ho did a test with her sis (on the Chinese & Viet part!) and their #s didn't come out the same so even if your older sis did, it probably isn't exactly the same as yours!

You have the same family history as me!! Although we don't have any part of Vietnamese in us that my parents know of. Maybe I should try a DNA test too!
My dad is Viet but he knows he has Chinese heritage in his background and my mom was Chinese living in Vietnam! I think we have have some similarities. I just wish I knew more about what province of China my mom’s family is from. (She passed along with all of my grandparents so I never got to really ask).
I'm not chinese nor is my family but those photos you showed of your parents looks soo similar to my parents photos on their honeymoon and etc. Especially that one with the telephone :D My mom has the same photo holding a phone, also the facial expressions look the same :D So weiird
