I am an italian musician and i played with him in Itay for 30 years ago in a concert outdoor like this
The reaction of the public, almost 100.000 people, was the same than you. Tears of greatness for the music and the voice, perfect mix.
We did this song 4 times more.
Man!! You are really blessed playing for Luciano!!
dio benedica l'italia, lunga vita all'italia, from across the water in Scozia, take care pal !!!!
Holy shit! You got to play with arguably the greatest Tenor EVER?! I’m truly jealous!
I envy you. I had tickets to his concert, but this was when he got sick with pancreatic cancer and cancelled the tours. This was in the UK: I really do not understand how you were able to concentrate on your performance. Well done and so privileged to have had that opportunity.
I never get tired of seeing someone watch this performance for the first time, especially when you see that it has stirred their soul. I believe this is the concert that Frank Sinatra also attended and the three tenors did a rendition of "My Way", which he loved. That one is worth a watch as well.
my boy holding back tears
Bravo to you for listening to this! You’re right; he was “built different.”
He was the best in his generation and the next to come.
The very best tenor to ever have lived and here he is singing the epitome of tenor arias. Flawless, with power and passion as only this man could achieve. His expression at the conclusion shows just how moved he was to share his gift with all who would listen.
You are right Andy, I am 74 years of age and he's the best tenor I've heard in my lifetime so far.
@@calibreman why is the reaction sounds so low? I could hardly hear Pavarotti sing they have headphones on but we can`t hear it properly? It should be louder.
It’s says so much that no matter how many versions of this song everyone compares it to his version .his intensity and he merged with the damn cosmos on that hooking last finale victory note. Always make me tear .
Lemme pay you a HUGE compliment my friend. You can obviously sense the emotional connection in the music. A lot of folks simply cannot. Even though this may not be your preferred style of listening music, to anyone that can truly sense high level talent, Pavarotti simply grabs your insides and you involuntarily take a deep breath. One of the most unique things about him different from basically all other opera singers is you experience his voice more than you hear it. I saw it in your reaction. Good for you my man, good for you. Perfect that you got to see it the first time on probably one of his best performances of Nessun dorma in his storied career. Pavarotti is one of the most important/significant voices in human history to date. No doubt.
We would be lucky to have another, like him in 500 years. Pavarotti was a one off. Pure, perfection.
He was famous in opera circles but not until he perform this aria at the closing of the Olympic Games 1988 did he become instantly famous world wide.
indeed!my father was an opera fan Wayyy before us kids!we listened to rock and what not!like I play guitar with shit setup and what not!Pavarottis voice is Immense after it compared to rock singers, and then in the late 90s I got hooked on the full pieces of opera from different composers!those composers were masters at composing with string, horns and singers back then
That was the 1990 World Cup. Pavarotti sang this one last time at the Barcelona 2006 Olympic games. It was his final performance before his death from pancreatic cancer the next year.
Okay, a bit of info about Nessun dorma:
In this Opera, Calaf, a prince falls madly in love with princess Turandot. She is beautiful, but very cold.
She gives all her suitors three riddles. If one wins, she will marry him, but the ones that lose, will be beheaded.
Calaf guesses all three riddles correct. She still does not want to marry him and he gives her a chance, she has to guess his name the next morning. She can execute him if she correctly guesses his name; but if she does not, she must marry him. But all the subject who could not find his name shall be executed instead.
Calaf sings this song while everyone is searching for his name. Nessun dorma means None shall sleep. He asks the princess to look to the stars and love him.
In the morning, the king asks the princess if she knows his name. She says she does. He is destraught. But she adds: 'His name is love.'
He had a mouthgasm at the end. The one and ONLY Luciano Pavarotti ❤
Thank you for enjoying Luciano. He had a gift that touched so many, and a heart of GOLD!
Luciano is a beast and I can’t hear this song and not get chills from the top of my head to the bottoms of my feet. If the great tenor can’t make you feel good you need to check to see if you have a pulse. You don’t have to understand the words to feel what he’s singing.
"Sounds like a movie" LOL
That is because movies use a lot of Operatic and classical music, not the other way around ;)
That's true. When music is 100 years old, royalties do no have to be paid on it. It is in public domain.
So they use a 100 year old record. Not a new producer, orchestra, singer and so on. I do think that they want to get paid.
The music is from Puccini's opera "Turandot", which premiered in 1926. The title translates to "No one shall sleep!" and is sung by a prince who wishes to marry the princess Turandot, who does not want to marry.
I have always loved Nessun Dorma. Pavarotti was always my favorite! LOVED your reactions! Wonderful choice of artist and performance! Zubin Mehta conducting is ALWAYS wonderful! Beyond stirring! A beautiful dream!
I really like how you focused more on the artist, rather than on yourself. Most reactors show the artist on a small screen down in the corner, whereas you do the opposite. You placed yourself down in the corner, and give over the largest part of the screen to the artist. I love your willingness to experience a musical genre so very different from what I would bet is your preferred form of music.
Just so you know, Puccini, the author of this opera and many others that are considered most awesome, was sneered at during his lifetime for writing "trash for the masses", just like Shakespeare...who put many dirty jokes in allllll of his plays.
Puccini was considered "lowbrow" while alive.
Was one of the greats! RIP Luciano
That is why he got the big bucks. Can't give the reaction a thumbs up because you don't pause Pavarotti. Glad you appreciated him.
Yes. Luciano is built different. Opera is.
Breath taking
It's real, it's Luciano, it's magnificent! Sorely missed!
I LOVED YOUR REACTION! Fantastico! ♥️
It saddens me to realize that so many of your generation have never experienced a symphony concert such as this. You are missing out on an experience that should not be missed. I don't expect your peers to embrace this music, but to deny yourselves the soul cleansing of this type of music at least once is a shame. I have been singing and playing this music for over 70 years and it still moves my soul.
Hello, my brother!! I LOVED your reaction! I am a classically trained pianist, and I know who Pavarotti is, but I NEVER listened to him do this. I love it, especially the end. He kills it!! That was COLD!! BLESS YOU FOR SHARING!! PEACE AND HEALTH TO YOU!!🙏
Seriously, you've never listened to him before now? Well you just listened to the best voice of our generation and there isn't a close 2nd.
@@johngelona2126 He most certainly is!!!😎🙏😎🙏
Saw you were gonna react to this, had to watch.. Good job bro!!😁
An opera is like a movie. It’s a live performance with most of the dialogue being sung instead of spoken. Most operas are in Italian or French or German.
Great post man. It's from a concert at Dodge Stadium. If you like Pavarotti, check out Jessye Norman, American opera soprano, incredibly beautiful and incredible voice.
When there's really great music, it doesn't matter what your favourite genre is, it just hits you in the heart. Just been listening to Indian Carnatic music, never thought I'd love that but now I do. You know a real music lover when they react like you did to this.
So sad we lost him I still cry
Singing at its very highest level
It's called opera. Check out more from Luciano. He's the GREATEST TENOR OF THE LAST 100 YRS.
If you ever have a chance to see an Opera, you should. It helps enormously if you know the story of the Opera before you go.
There is another performance from him on CZcams. It was done when he was much younger. But he does it with no microphone!
There is no amplification in opera. So think about the kind of voice needed to be heard in a theater that might hold 4,000 people - over an 80+piece orchestra that is in front of the singer…
The greatest tenor of his generation has a 'nice strong voice'.... Friend, you did make me chuckle 😁😁😁😁 I saw him live at an open air concert here in England in 1993 and he told us in the audience a long way through the show that he would NOT sing this aria - cue audience groan and visibly deflate. Opera is a drama set to music - I personally don't like opera or musicals either - but this piece is just SO emotional it usually makes this 67 yo fool weep. Not all music is set to driving hard rhythms as your movement in your chair at the beginning seemed to imply: If I may: a suggestion: let the music, not your expectations, set the tone for your review and maybe let the whole thing play out as well. HUGE respects from London!!!!👍👍Volume very low as well...
Opera we could say is basically the "grandma" of movies and particularly of musicals. Every Opera recounts a story, and it´s so relatable, if you read the plot, to our lives in terms of feelings and human struggles, that it´s impossible IMHO to not love it. Puccini, Verdi, Mozart, just to name a few, wrote Operas that had a huge impact on the culture not only of the time they were first premiered in theaters, but also of today. The feelings are so embedded in the music that even without understanding the text, you can feel them. And great Opera singers like Luciano Pavarotti are able to add their personal touch, giving the feelings in the piece even more depth.
Don't turn the video off, watch how the audience reacts to him. There are many videos of him performing this aria, both younger and older. When he was younger he could hold those last two notes longer, but as he gets older his voice only improves.
React to Luciano singing "Caruso". Also singing "Vesti la Giubba".
You can see he sang His heart out!
His heart and his soul too! Now Luciano is singing requests for the Lord Himself.
Nessun dorma!... (Nobody shall sleep!...)
Nessun dorma! (Nobody shall sleep!)
Tu pure, o Principessa, (Even you, oh Princess,)
nella tua fredda stanza, (in your cold room,)
guardi le stelle, (watch the stars,)
che fremono d'amore (that tremble with love)
e di speranza. (and hope.)
Ma il mio mistero è chiuso in me, (But my secret is hidden within me,)
il nome mio nessun saprà... (My name none shall know...)
No, no! Sulla tura bocca lo dirò (No, no! On your mouth, I will tell it)
quando la luce splenderà! (when the light shines!)
Ed il mio bacio scioglierà il silenzio (And my kiss will dissolve the silence)
che ti fa mia! (that makes you mine!)
(Il nome suo nessun saprà) (No one will know his name)
(e noi dovrem, ahimè, morir!) (and we must, alas, die!)

All'alba vincerò - (At dawn, I will win -)
Vincerò - (I will win -)
Vincerò!~ (I will wiiin!)
That's opera one helluva show!
If you liked this you should check out "O Sole Mio" by the Three Tenors (Pavarotti is number three!). Really awesome performance!
Like pearls before swine
Try listening to Aretha Franklin’s performance of this at the 1998 Grammys, when he got sick. She did it AT THE LAST MINUTE.
☮️💙💙💙🥲pure genius
Amazing
Yes he was a famous opera singer who unfortunately,, died in 2007.
Luciano Pavarotti is one of the greatest Tenors in opera history. The aria he is singing, "Nessun Dorma" (Nobody Sleeps) from Puccini's opera "Turandot" is considered a benchmark for top Tenors because of the final refrain of "Vincero" (I will win) requires the singer to hit and hold the Tenor B4 note. Another great aria for Tenors is "Vesti La Giubba" (Put on the Mask) from the opera "Pagliacci" by Leoncavallo. Mario Lanza, another great Tenor, does an outstanding rendition of "Vesti La Giubba". Two more great Tenors are on a CD, "The Three Tenors" with Pavarotti; Jose Carreras and Placido Domingo. There have been many great Tenors in opera history, some of the old timers are Franco Corelli, Jussi Bjorling, Beniamino Gigli, Nicolai Gedda, and of course the man many consider the GOAT Tenor, Enrico Caruso. Yes, I am an opera fan.
🖤💛❤️
For me the best the world
Fantastic...Listen to Luciano and James Brown duet
Check out his duet with, believe it or not, James Browm.
I think he got your respect, brother.
None shall sleep,
None shall sleep!
Even you, oh Princess,
In your cold room,
Watch the stars,
That tremble with love
And with hope.
But my secret is hidden within me,
My name no one shall know,
No... no...
On your mouth, I will tell it,
When the light shines.
And my kiss will dissolve the silence that makes you mine!
(No one will know his name and we must, alas, die.)
Vanish, o night!
Set, stars! Set, stars!
At dawn, I will win!
I will win!
I will win!
His voice is not strong, it's a force of nature. ❤😉👍🏻
Baby, you WI always remember this! 😎
So that the opera singer is able to give a good performance on stage full of emotions and acting. They must have learned the technique of singing for at least ten years. After this time, they have experienced the singer so well that they don't have to pay attention to her and they focus on the acting part. ... Im opera singer. this is normal siging form me. But yes, he had great voice :) ... I heve bassis voice - like: E. Schrott, Adbarzakov. I like D'Arcangelo, too.
I got Cokane round in around my brain....
Education young man
Naw, man its opera, a kind of theatre..without the movies..just the singing..
For slightly softer tenor Andrea Bocelli Conte par Tiro!
Check out: Celtic Woman performing Pie Jesu
Emotional
Do not miss Met opera Turandot NON PIAGERE LIU singers Domingo and LEONA
If you liked that version, have a listen to Amira Willighagen who won Holland's got talent in 2013. She was 9 years old at the time and she took it out with more than half the votes. She has the reputation of being the best soprano voice since Maria Callas and that is no mean recognition. At age 15 she put out her third or fourth cd With that song on it and also did a version with Classics is Groot in South Africa in 2018
Stop and just listen !
Try The Electric Flag "Over Lovin' You" or "Wine"
Pa'va'RO ti. I have had to learn African surnames.
It's opera
Grande voce ma provate a sentire lo stesso brano cantato da Mario del Monaco o Franco Corelli
airhead versus added value
Lol he can sing tho
Pa Va Rotty.
Хотел написать много плохих слов в твой адрес, за твою реакцию в течении выступления. Но в конце ты показал себя....
this is the true Pavarotti: czcams.com/video/Q_hLh4qCqpg/video.html
Don't get me wrong, Maestro Pavarotti was VERY good, but not the best. He said of Jussi Bjorling "How can I compare? I am but a man." Please check out Jussi's rendition of the same song. czcams.com/video/bUbA5y1hnFg/video.html
