Gekoppelde trams!

Me too. It would be very easy for them to concrete over it to save maintenance costs. But instead they have left this piece of lawn instead of a drab piece of faceless concrete. And this isn't an area the public frequent either which makes it even more surprising.

John Rauner Studies suggest that tracks in grassed areas need less repairs as the grass and earth absorb vibration & weight pressure from the tram better than concrete.

Nope, HTM is the only tram company there.
Yuo may have been confused by the different liveries of the trams: there's a light shade of red with cream on the older city trams, a darker red with dark grey on the newer ones and light grey with blue on the interurbans (like the one in this vid).

@@Jules_Diplopia HTM = Haagse Tram Maatschappij, which is the name of the tram company from The Hague city which this is in and uses the Red and Cream paintsceme.
Randstadrail was the first lightrail line between the city's of Rotterdam and The Hague. Rotterdam used subway trains on the line (seen at 19:38 time index) whilst The Hague used Trams on the line. They were all painted in White and Blue.
R-Net stands for Randstad-Network. Randstad being the triangle shaped area with the 3 big cities of The Netherlands: Rotterdam, The Hague and Amsterdam. R-Net is a joint coöperation between the 3 cities public transport companies aswell as a few other rural transport companies to make public transport more accessible and standarized.
