  • It may be a rock-strewn wagon trail, but the (BUFF-Megamo) outfit of Hans Becking and Wout Alleman made the Old Wagon Trail singletrack look like a groomed race track at the end of Stage 2. Tuesday’s Stage 2, over 97 kilometres with some 2200 metres of climbing proved another great day for the Becking and Alleman, with the pair winning their second stage and claiming the team’s first-ever Ciovita Yellow Leaders’ Jersey.
While Becking and Alleman blitzed the course in a time of 4:05:22; and Anne Terpstra and Nicole Koller (GHOST Factory Racing) claimed a hattrick of stage victories in the Aramex Women’s Category, many riders were simply ticking over to get across the finish line in Saronsberg in under the maximum stage time of nine hours.

Great coverage. Sofia's 1st rule of racing - When things don't go your way, blame other people.

Yep, came to say pretty much the same thing. There was nothing stopping Sofia pushing the pace but she’d rather just complain about it as usual. She decided to give up when Kasia Niewiadoma turned up to Big Sugar (I think?) and smoked her too, her reason… “I just wanted to have a fun day on my bike” 👀😂

the thing that i like about road racing is if the yellow jersey has a mechanical, nobody will attack. they will even sit up and wait for the yellow jersey to come back

The difference is that there are so many more mechanicals in mtb in demanding conditions, so that waiting would kill races in general at many days.
That is why they continue racing. It is just a part of the sport and making sure to prepare against it is a part of it too. The riding style as well affects the chance to get punctured so skill is a part of the equasion as well
