    I've been talking about manual EVs for at least 10 years now. Finally someone does it and it's Toyota. They've really been on a roll lately and this is really going to put them in the front of the enthusiast market.

    • @redcrafterlppa303
      @redcrafterlppa303 Před rokem +35

      The problem with manual ev's is that there really is no point in doing this. It only increases weir and decreases performance. The only benefit is the amount of control you have on the gas. There is no difference in torque whatsoever. You can probably start this car and drive 200kmh in second gear. The hydrogen combustion version on the other hand is interesting because it keeps everything a traditional gasoline powered car and only replaces the fuel.

    • @DantesGrill
      @DantesGrill Před rokem +33

      @@redcrafterlppa303 True about EV's. But that's also the thing. I don't want it to drive like an EV. I wouldn't mind decreased performance if it adjusted the torque curve to be more similar to a combustion engine, which they can because it's electric/computer based. It's the enthusiast market, not for everyone.

    • @redcrafterlppa303
      @redcrafterlppa303 Před rokem +23

      @@DantesGrill that's why I suggested that h2 combustion will be the replacement for enthusiasts. It combines all the bells and whistles of a traditional combustion car without most of the harmful exhaust.
      I'm sure the electric motor with gearbox feels completely different from a combination motor making it more awkward than fun.

    Seriously so cool. I have a 2015 Scion FRS/86 that the engine blew up on my way to work. I’d love to convert it to either Hydrogen or EV with an OEM kit from Toyota.

    this project highlights the difference between people who are only obsessed with the IDEA of cars (and cringe, shutter, and complain at the idea of an EV or hydrogen power) versus people who can think outside the box to adapt to new conditions while still maintaining the spark that true enthusiasts love. Bringing the AE86 platform is deflective of a brand who cares about both and challenged the notion that cars can only be carbon neutral or fun to drive

      Водород и электро автомобили это хорошо , но сколько надо потратить энергии и сколько будет токсичных выбросов в атмосферу, при производстве и утилизации батарей автомобилей и баллонов для водорода, или будем закапывать в землю как лопасти ветряков?

    This car is an event where many companies and organizations display modified cars at a place called Tokyo Auto Salon.
    This AE86 will not be produced. This is an existing AE86 that has been modified to use a hydrogen engine or an electric vehicle.

    Bob Lazar perfected hydrogen vehicles in 1984, he made his Corvette run on hydrogen and the charging machine hooked to a garden hose taking the hydrogen and storing it while releasing o² as a byproduct. It was more fuel efficient and even gave it more horsepower.
