It's impossible to list all the western movie stars and great western character actors but you left out some big ones: John Wayne, James Stewart, Gary Cooper, Audie Murphy, Randolph Scott, Alan Ladd, Burt Lancaster, Jack Elam, Chill Wills, Walter Brennan, and stars of the 1940's like Tim Holt, William Boyd (as Hopalong Cassidy), the popular Red Ryder western stars Rocky Lane and Wild Bill Elliot, Roy Rogers (King of the Cowboys), Gene Autry...I could go on!
How can you have Lee Van Cleef and not Clint Eastwood who made more cowboy movies then Lee and even Kirk Douglas,Clint won an academy award for The Unforgiven and John Wayne should be on the list too who also won an academy award for a western movie
I totally agree that Clint Eastwood should definitely be on the list. But I see you mentioned John Wayne and pointed out that he had won an award for one of his westerns. Now I'm just curious, do you think he really deserved the award for that film ( True Grit ) ? Please understand, I'm not in anyway against Wayne, I own most of his movies, I just think if he was going to get an award it should have been for one of the better westerns he was in.
The academy always gives out an award to people who don't deserve it for their performance in a particular movie,did Jaime Lee Curtis deserve it this year,many believe as in John Wayne's case it was for the body of their work which might be right but Wayne should be in this video but the person who made the video has a different opinion
@@jamesfix8353 I agree with you James , I loved him in "The Man who shot Liberty Valance" but you're on point , even though he was awesome in "True Grit" but I believe his performance on "The Searchers" was more in the Oscar's caliber out of all his films, but that's me 👍👍
I'll never understand how John Wayne became so popular with his limited acting abilities but Ward Bond is almost a forgotten actor lost to time. In my opinion Ward's acting abilities were far superior to Wayne's. Sure I love watching John Wayne films but you know you're watching John Wayne just playing John Wayne whereas Ward Bond would become the character he was portraying in the film much like James Stewart, Henry Fonda and Cary Grant could do. Sure you know the actors but you sort of disconnect them from the people they are on screen. I can't seem to do that with Wayne, he's always just John Wayne dressed like a cowboy.
