- 2010 Scion xB. Shows how to disassemble under-hood fuse-and-relay box, aka fuse block outer housing, and how to remove fusible link, aka main fuse, aka alternator fuse. Fusible link is part number is 8262012280 (supersession 82620-12280.) This is a multiplex fuse that includes the alternator fuse.
I excluded from the video what I felt were the more straightforward steps, remove engine control module, battery, and air ducts. I decided to remove the air box. You may not need to remove all of those. I also cut a few cable ties, and again, I'm not sure you will need to do that, or sure of which, if any, were necessary.
Remove the main cover from the fuse box. Remove a smaller cover, toward the front of the fuse block, that snaps in. Remove forward component (blocks access to two tabs along the forward edge of the main housing) by releasing two small tabs, then grip firmly and rock while pulling up. It feels like there is another attachment point somewhere, but if you have released the two tiny tabs, then it's just stuck, and rocking and pulling is the way.
After removing three bolts that secure the outer housing to the body, you can pull the outer housing away from the left fender, attached with two ball-style connectors that snap into two holes drilled into the body.
Separate the top half and bottom half of the outer housing of the fuse block by releasing eight tabs, two on each of four sides.
Fusible link is attached by a 10mm bolt to the smaller fuse array (black, sixteen-bay) that sits behind it. Slide them down as a unit, through the bottom of the top half of the outer housing. Four tabs hold this unit to the outer housing, one on each of the long sides of the fusible link, one on the forward end of the fusible link, and one at the rear end of the fuse array (black.)
These instructions match Scion xB 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015. This fuse-and-relay box, part number 82741-12070 (aka "Block, Engine Room Relay," aka herein as "outer housing,") fits only the above models.
Instructions may be similar across the same model years for Scion tC, Toyota Corolla, Toyota Matrix, other Scion and Toyota models, and other Japanese designs. See fitment for the fusible link below.
Good luck.

Thank you so much for posting this vid. I never would have been able to figure this out on my own.
Great video I’m just starting this journey excellent description made much more sense as I progressed
Thank you
I'm try to put one back together and don't know where the wires gos I didn't take a pic of it before I started
Having problems with my charging system, i sent my aternator to get rebuild check fuses but still the same
Perfect thank you so much
For some reason on my 2010 Scion XB this will be the second one I’m replacing any idea why it keeps blowing? All my wires are in good shape. Although I do have a problem with low beams which makes me think there is a short. The wiring is good though. The low beams are dull and not bright. I heard it can blow to a reverse safety effect. Idk. Thanks for the upload!
Trying to find the diagrams for the fuses for this unit. The fuse box cover is for a different unit.
Is it the same thing for a 2012 Scion TC?
Do you know where 2011 Corolla cruise control fuse is located.
Yes, that’s right, GOOD LUCK 🍀
Can someone please tell me where the hell this box even IS? He doesn’t show where the box is located inside the engine. Is it connected to the battery terminal?
In the video, I had already removed the black plastic cover from the fuse block. Left/driver (US) side, next to the firewall and the fender.
why did you replace it and did you test it first? if yes how did you test it in detail pls?
the alternator won't charge the battery, this happens after the vehicle has been in an accident. CUrrently, we are changing that on a 2013 Toyota Corolla, which has been in an accident. I got a picture to show you where the fuse link is broken at. We are located in AZ if you would see it in person too :) cheers
Why did you need to replace it? Trying check my abs fuse
have the same problem. c1361. Short in ABS Motor Fail Safe Relay Circuit.
ABS and VSC lights flashing.
the most likely cause is the fuse 1, but how the hell to check it?
This is the first time I am seeing this fusible link garbage design.
I arced my alternator and now all my interior lights .. dash.. locks... Nothing turns on
This is Happening to me how did you fix it
