Replace Inner Rear Tail Light Assembly, 2018 Toyota Highlander, Liftgate Lamp Assy
Hi and Welcome!
This video is limited to one specific phase of the whole repair process, showing you only the attachment points and the access to those points. This assumes that you already know the basics of how to start and finish this job. You can find other videos that demonstrate the start and end phases for similar vehicles.
I did not remove the interior liftgate panel. I disengaged the retainers along the edge where I was working, along the bottom, and around the bottom corner of the opposite edge. This allowed for enough clearance.
Two 10mm nuts are exposed along the outer edge, one 10 mm nut accessed via a hole in the liftgate, hidden behind the interior liftgate panel. There is also a pin/post at the remote sharp corner toward the center of the vehicle. This mates to a rubber insert in a hole in the liftgate. See pic.
To pull the interior panel away from the lift gate, I used a plastic pry tool, but you might be able to press on the side of the vinyl interior liftgate panel, using the fingertips of both hands on both sides of where you think a retainer is, then pull the panel away from the liftgate, to disengage your first retainer. Then work your way around the perimeter of the panel, disengaging the retainers one by one. (If you DO use a metal pry tool against the painted surface of the steel liftgate, ensure that you protect the painted surface with some sort of padding, to avoid scratching the paint.)
The part number in this video also fits the 2017 Toyota Highlander and the 2019 Toyota Highlander. The rear tail light (tail lamp) assembly, inner, mounted on the liftgate, also includes the backup lights. Other models with a similar design include 2014 Toyota Highlander, 2015 Toyota Highlander, and 2016 Toyota Highlander.

This is absolutely the last DVD I will return to Netflix (except for the two view-and-return discs that are on their way to me now.) The next disc, the one DVD.com will ship to me to replace the one starring in this video, will be a keeper for my permanent collection, courtesy of DVD.com. I have a "three-out" plan. I get to keep the final three. Earlier today, I confirmed that they shipped one ...
Jack Up Lift a 2022 Tesla Model Y, Tire Change to Replace Damaged Flat, Model S, Model X, Model 3

This video shows how I helped my 2022 Tesla Model Y customer replace a single damaged tire. Errata: 1) The front suspension on this vehicle is double wishbone, not MacPherson. 2) No Tesla Model Y is equipped with factory air suspension. I used specialized pads at the lift points, to protect the vehicle. I applied the service jack to one lift point, and both tires cleared the ground. This allowe...

    Can someone please tell me where the hell this box even IS? He doesn’t show where the box is located inside the engine. Is it connected to the battery terminal?

      In the video, I had already removed the black plastic cover from the fuse block. Left/driver (US) side, next to the firewall and the fender.

    HOW ABOUT THE SIZE OF FRONT JACK ??? I see you were looking at the shiny object “ the pucks” and lost sight of the big picture.

      I disagree, the puck is probably the most essential piece here. Stay away from this kind of work if you actually need others to instruct you which jack to use for this car 👍

    For some reason on my 2010 Scion XB this will be the second one I’m replacing any idea why it keeps blowing? All my wires are in good shape. Although I do have a problem with low beams which makes me think there is a short. The wiring is good though. The low beams are dull and not bright. I heard it can blow to a reverse safety effect. Idk. Thanks for the upload!

    hello, I want to rerun a wire from the A?C fuse to the A/C relay, and I am trying to remove the fuse block but it seems that I can remove the fuses holder assembly without even removing the whole block, cant you explain to me how to do that please.

      the alternator won't charge the battery, this happens after the vehicle has been in an accident. CUrrently, we are changing that on a 2013 Toyota Corolla, which has been in an accident. I got a picture to show you where the fuse link is broken at. We are located in AZ if you would see it in person too :) cheers

      have the same problem. c1361. Short in ABS Motor Fail Safe Relay Circuit. ABS and VSC lights flashing. the most likely cause is the fuse 1, but how the hell to check it? This is the first time I am seeing this fusible link garbage design.

    Do you know which fuse or relay would effect the blower motor?

    • @brycedrennan7722
      @brycedrennan7722 Před 4 lety

      I don't, but...When I replaced a similar multiplex fuse on a Corolla, the blower-motor fuse was burnt. I could identify which fuse was burnt when I looked through the window on the fuse, but I had to light it and idk maybe magnify. I found that, once the fuse is out, maybe even when still in, it's more expeditious to test for continuity across the fuse.

  • @brycedrennan7722
    @brycedrennan7722 Před 5 lety

    Correction: To remove the multiplex fuse, you do not have to drop the fuse block through the bottom of the fuse-panel outer housing.
