- This easy drop biscuit recipe only requires 5 simple ingredients! In under 30 minutes you can have homemade drop biscuits on your table! I also decided to add some garlic and cheddar to the biscuits to make a delicious variation. These taste exactly like the Cheddar Bay Biscuits you can get at Red Lobster, but I think they're better!

This looks fabulous. I'm going to teach my granddaughters 3&5 tonight after school this recipe. It looks simple and mess free😉 Our weather today 1/17/23 is cold in Boca Florida like 42. Good day for homemade 😋 biscuits and soup
Sounds great!
I love the fact that you list the ingredients amounts
Love this recipie.
Glad you like it!
Made this yesterday with Army SOS (biscuits and hamburger gravy). Absolutely fantastic. Thanks for the recipe.
hey Betty I really love all of ur baking video, u explain just like a real teacher, to guide n encourage the amateur like me.
I have a question hope u can answer. I made this biscuit, n I create my own buttermilk (1¾ tbsp cream of tartar + 1 cup whole milk), and I used ½tsp baking soda + ½tsp corn starch expecting the biscuit becomes more tough n crispy in the outside. And I have my biscuit tasted sour 😅 what could be my mistake? thank u 💖
Heeeyy these were the first drop biscuits I've made with success! They usually come out dry but these were not!!🙌🏾🙌🏾 Super excited!! Thanks ☺️
Great job!
Awesome recipe thanks for sharing and love your channel! Do you recommend any other cheese apart from cheddar?
Thank you!
I just made these buiscuits they were a hit. Thank you for sharing such a wonderful recipe

I made these a week ago from your recipe and I killed them - not in a bad way lol 😜 They turned out so fluffy and tasty! I haven’t made biscuits so well before haha! Especially cheese biscuits!!
Omgosh 🤤lol
Thanks so much for sharing!🧡💛🧡💛
I'm so happy you enjoyed them!
Great presentation, 5 mins and we have everything for 2 different recipes. That's the way to make videos!
Glad you liked it!
I'll try these. MY biscuits normally turn out like golf balls. I just don't seem to be able to get them soft... I guess I am over mixing.
Yours look fantastic!
CELESTE, in the ATL 💛
My mom always said dont over mix, if you mess with them too much they will be tough
You are the best bread maker on youtube
Oh thank you! That is goo kind!
Thank you for this recipe. Is it possible to make this part wholemeal? Or is it not recommended?
I àm new to your channel. Very informative. Just like Popeye's buttermilk scones warm and delicious.
I made the garlic cheddar biscuits to go with beef stew. They were so delicious. The cheese was crispy on the bottoms. Yum. I cut back on the salt because I used salted butter.
Sounds great with beef stew!
Great recipe! Came out perfect. Delicious. Thank you for the tutorial.
I would love to attend your classes in Chicago. Are you planning to hold classes later this year? How do I know your schedule?
Thank you! I am unsure when in-person classes will be resumed but you can keep checking my website (bakerbettie.com) or Instagram (@bakerbettie) for updates!
Can you use self rising flour
Shat liquid was poured on scones when baked? Look delicious....just wondering if some sugar could be added for sweet scone?
Oh these look delicious, am I able to use self rising flour instead of AP flour and the other rising agents? If so, is it the same weight ?
Yes, absolutely. I use self-rising flour in these biscuits. It's essentially the same recipe: czcams.com/video/pt8A1cULe2E/video.html
I just made these to go along side with my beef stew. This is a delicious recipe. I added parsley, black pepper and 1/2 cup extra cheddar cheese to the dough. Perfection. Thank you for sharing.
Yum! You're welcome!
9-3-23 Made these using Einkorn Berries that I ground myself. They were great.
All our eaters really appreciate the simple ingredients. Big thumbs down to recipes using GUMS for this EZ biscuit recipe. The gums are not kind to every body.
We are having fun retraining our mouth to love the texture & flavor of simple USA foods from days gone by. Can't wait to do it again.
Many blessings for the work you do.
I am new to your channel . I came over from tictok. I have so many ideas for these. What would I do to add cinnamon and raisins or even chocolate chips? How could I adjust it or do I need to?
Yay....biscuits
Can you double up on the flour to make bigger batches?? Or will they come out mushy? Thank you and love your video 😊
You will need to double the entire recipe to make more biscuits.
In case you were wondering these DO work for "pot pies". I just plopped the biscuits on top of the filling in a cast iron skillet then popped in the oven for the same time and temp. The bottom wasn't soggy or anything
Great! Thanks so much for sharing!
OMG this looks DELICIOUS... I can’t wait to try this recipe! 🤤😋😍
#NewSubbie 🙂
Hope you enjoy!
Can I use mozzarella instead...will it change the texture??
Hey Bettie👋🏻 this recipe looks incredibly delicious, I’d like to know if I can fry it instead of baking it in the oven?
I don't recommend it as I haven't tried it. Biscuits are best made in the oven.
While frying probably would not work well, if you can't use an oven and really want them, you might try a large skillet with a tight fitting lid... if you have one. Hopefully, if you cooked them on medium to low heat, this would create a kind of stovetop oven. Can't promise it will work for these, but this technique works well for some things. Good luck!🙏
Robin D thank you for your suggestion. I was gonna use the oven but it was broken. I also never tried this biscuit before so I tried to fry it and it didn’t cook very well.😂
Could I just use cold grated cheese rather than cubes and then cutting them like you did?
These look absolutely delicious! Also, I had a question, can we add spicy sausage or any minced meat to it?
Yes! Just make sure the meat is already cooked.
@@BakerBettie okay, Thankyou 🤗
Betty say garlic cheddar biscuits, I click like 😋
I’ve been making these for years and years, but I take an even bigger shortcut and use Bisquick..lol Just add water and cheese, then brush with garlic butter. I always infuse my butter with garlic..:)
Delicious!
Jeana
Thanks Jeana !
Just in the process of making this recipe. Will let you know how it turns out. 🇨🇦❤️🇨🇦
Those cheese biscuits look good 😋
Thanks!
@@BakerBettie ur welcome ❤
Jesus loves u ☺
Hello , can we use mozerella cheese instead of cheddar?
Thanks in advance 😊
Yes, you can!
Hi! Can the dough be frozen after mixing?
Yes! I would shape my drop biscuits into little balls (use the back of a spoon to spread the dough) and then freeze on a sheet pan. Once they are frozen you can take off the sheet pan and place in a zipper bag.
Can I use self rising flor
Yes you can. Use the same amount of Self-Rising flour as the recipe calls for All-Purpose flour but reduce your Baking Powder to 1 tsp and omit the salt.
Me and my sis tried this out and it was DELICIOUS amd tasted exactly like the red lobster biscuits! I highly recommend 👍
Great to hear!
I saw a recipe that said to use pasta flour to make biscuits. Some fancy restaurant in New Orleans uses it and the biscuits are supposed to be amazing. Never heard of using pasta flour before. I thought I might try it. Your thoughts ?????????????????
If you use almond flour how does the recipe change? Great video
Thank you! I haven't tried this recipe with almond flour, I would recommend searching for a biscuit recipe that specifically uses that type of flour.
I did it that day. They came out like flat biscuits and half fell apart. However the next day. Amazing!
I only found the unbleached flour in the store. Would it be too dense for this biscuits?
You can definitely use it! I only use unbleached flour in all my baking unless I'm baking a cake!
I'm using self Rising Flour can i?
Yes, but you'll need to omit the additional baking powder in the recipe since your self-rising flour already has it. And reduce the additional salt in the recipe to 3/4 teaspoon.
Just FYI for anyone who, like me, went to Amazon to get that scoop. The one linked to in the description is NOT the one used in the video.
Can't I just use self-rising flour ? I noticed you used it in your three ingredient biscuit video. Does it make a difference in the way the biscuits turn out ? I've always used self-rising
That is what I was trying to find out
Thank you for using measurements by weight and via the metric system.
You are welcome! It's definitely the most accurate.
Does the milk need to be chilled beforehand?
Yes, it’s important that the dough is cold when it goes into the oven.
Warm or cold milk?
Everything should be cold when doing biscuits.
Can I make the cheddar ones on a baking sheet? I don’t own a cast iron
You can!
Can I prepare 1-2 days in advance and keep in the fridge or and freezer until ready to bake?
that garlic version looks too good uuuggghhhhh
thanks! It's really delicious!
does anyone have any suggestions for stopping the dough from sticking to the scoop It sticks with every scoop and everything doesn't come out perfectly like hers
It's expected that the dough will stick to the spoon. If you want, you can spray the spoon with cooking spray to prevent sticking. I usually just use my fingers to scrape off the excess dough left on the spoon.
Hahahaha this looks amazing
Thanks!
Does anyone know the recipe for the melted butter mix
I say it in the video: about 2 tbsp melted butter mixed with 1/2 tsp garlic powder and 1/2 tsp parsley
@@BakerBettie Thank you so much, they have a great flavor.
My biscuits came out so dense. Almost gummy. FYI: I switchrd the cheddar with mozsrella. Is the my Oops! (error)?
That might be the culprit! Mozzarella has quite a bit more moisture than cheddar so it probably created a gummy texture. For that reason I don't recommend adding mozzarella to the batter.
Can these biscuits be made with almond milk instead of cow's milk?
Yes, they can just be sure to use unsweetened.
Made them EXACTLY as described, but they came out too heavy/oily from the cheese and extra butter on top. Plus, I ended up with 20 biscuits, so I had to use a second pan. The ones cooked in the cast iron skillet were okay, but the "extra" ones on the parchment lined cookie sheet were too brown on the bottom...almost burnt. If I do them again, I will decrease the cheese to 1 cup, and lower the oven temperature to 425.
No rolling and folding?
Nope! That's the beauty of a drop biscuit.
UK we dont have all purpose flour
Or sticks of butter
Or sharp cheese in the UK
All purpose flour is the same as what you would call “plain flour”. I give weight measurements for everything in the video and in the written recipe (linked in the description) so it doesn’t matter if you don’t have sticks of butter! Use the weight given. Use a cheese you like!
The biscuits turned out nice, I think the next time I’ll use a little more salt. I guess my cheese isn’t as salty.
that can happen! I sometimes like to sprinkle extra coarse salt on the top of the biscuits after they come out of the oven.
