I nearly drowned as a child, as well. I went the opposite way and spent a lifetime trying to conquer the fear. It runs deep! Huge hug from me!!!
My goal one summer, in 1978, was to get to the northeast corner of Maine. Didn't make it but now you have added some incentive for me to finish the trip.
Go there in the heat of the summer and get rewarded with clean cool air 😀

Finding amazing free camping in Maine is almost as easy as BLM Free camping in the west. We’re thinking it’s gotta get tougher to find as we go south right? Wish you guys and your kayaks could have been there with us. 😀

Often, just a few sessions with someone skilled in trauma therapy like EMDR or Brainspotting can make a huge shift in your comfort level in the water. If you're interested, I'd be happy to help you find some resources. Might make your water life even more fun.

We have spent nearly a month in Maine already and can’t seem to escape with all the beauty. The coastal hardwood trees should be in full foliage by the time you arrive! All have to google Wells Maine and see how far we are away. Thank you for the tip 😎

As always a great video. So relaxing to watch while I drink my morning coffee. I Always enjoy the drone footage. I love that one big tree that stands higher than the other trees. Your footage using the drone was amazing. The trees just starting to change, stunning. Maine is looking lovely. Definite change in temps, we here in Victoria BC got down to 5C lastnight. Frost on the roofs this a.m. What an amazing spot. Living close to water no matter which way we go, I learnt to swim a lot. We had a beach just down the road from home so it was necessary to learn. That water is like glass. Very calming morning.

We are noticing the trees are already starting to drop there leaves 🍁 lol Our last 2 weeks have been right on the Maine coast and it’s been quite delightful.

Carrie, I never fell in deep water but I’m the same kind of swimmer as you, I don’t like my face in water but I can dog paddle, float & tread water. I like boating & being on the water too! Like watching your kayak time!😊 Sweet picture of Roodle at the end!🐶
I’ve only seen one lighthouse can’t wait to see more. In the meantime I’ll enjoy seeing the ones you share. You find the best spots to stay. Such gorgeous scenery. We are using the DJI MAVIC Air. We love this drone.. It shoots in 4K so an amazing camera plus it’s easy to learn how to fly even if it’s your first ever drone. All that said I do get nervous on windy days and over water lol

Try to get a package that has 2 batteries if you can. I think they call it the “Fly more” package. The flight time is realistically only 10 minutes and the extra battery feels like a must.

My family and I camped at a site only to be subjected to the noise of partying bafoons at another site not far away. Fire works and loud country music till 3am. I won't go there again. The mosquitoes were hellacious too

Thank you! Not yet but I tend not to get too far away simple a precaution for strong winds and such a small kayak...and not being a strong swimmer.

I'm glad you're able to enjoy water even after your childhood trauma, Carrie. You're halfway through the healing process. You might look into FasterEFT to finish healing. Robert Smith teaches it here on youtube. It really does help for traumas. This is his "getting started" playlist that walks you through the process and highlights its successes. I *highly* recommend this healing modality. It's free to learn, it's easy to do, and it's safe and effective. 👍

Roodle has tick medication that he eats..all check with Carrie to see which one it is..plus we got him his lyme shot and we do a tick check at the end of every day which he loves 😂 We just pulled off 3 ticks last night..they had not bit him yet but were crawling around his eyes.
We need to make it to the RTR one of these times 😕

Roodle gets a tick check every night. We have found 3 ticks in the last month. These ticks are small and hard to see compared to the ones we are use to. Thank you for the tip 😀

really nice drone footage, but be careful...... You can get in big trouble for not keeping it in line of site....
