We live in Amarillo, but used to live on the rim at Palo Duro Canyon. Our vet recommended a rattlesnake venom vaccination for our dog. We didn't even know that was a thing!

Damnit..... I wanted to get on here , rant for pages, and scold you. I hate content creators that exploit little fairly unkown gems like this to morons who live on social media and ruin it... and didn't work for it! Like many true outdoor enthusiasts, I used to spend countless hours trying to find places like this, either exploring the old fashioned way, or on google earth (pre-maps version). ALL of those places are overrun now or trashed now from idiots with no respect and just there for their Intstagram pose, just like the well-known places, because of content creator's exploitation. Except for maybe a handful. But then I saw your golden..... Damn yous....That's my soft spot. That golden deserves whatever life you are providing for them. Even if it's at the cost of this place. I guess I'll have to save my pages long rant for some other CC😁

C'mon you wimps. Couple of trees heck they were more like twigs, maybe an 1/8th of an inch of snow and a couple of tiny puddles to the river LOL. Beautiful spot but the spot by the lake was awesome too.

We weren't that far from you. We were on the McKenzie River when that snowstorm hit.

You have a fantastic dog! But you should advise everyone that "pets must always be restrained or on a leash no longer than six feet in length while in developed recreation sites" in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. That includes trails and campsites. And don't forget your "poop-bags". We also have a dog that we camp with, but are often frustrated with campers who feel above the rules and whose dogs are allowed to free-roam leaving "land mines" to distract from the beauty of nature. Always be courteous of those who come after you.

My favorite place in that area was Umpqua Hot Springs. It's super awesome a bit of a hike and can get busy. There are 5 to 7 pools down the mountain from the hot spring source.

There are some of the most beautiful natural hot springs on the Ump qua River about 30 minutes west. Next time you visit you’d would love Umpqua Hot Springs!

Just a lovely spot! But i hope you move the wood pile off to the side since friends are comming.i really couldnt see the whole site.I also chopped wood in grade school for a wood burner we had.but no chainsaw ,just an axe. Dad built our house out of concrete blocks,flat roof,no insulation.ah those days

My husband and I worked at the koa on lemolo lake for a season. Anytime we had a night off we would park our van at that river spot or some other spots near by! So crazy to see it on camera. There’s nice hot springs near by too. We’re heading back out on the road this summer!

What a beautiful area! I've been to most of OR and Crater Lake, but not to this area. That campsite and the one you couldn't get to were so nice. I got a kick out of seeing the dogs so excited to see each other. I love dogs and Roodle is really special. Great drone work Dave, and beautiful photography Carrie. I'm enjoying my 2024 calendar!

We got a terrible dose of ambition and are driving our Promaster through South America and there’s nowhere like this in Colombia. Public land, no oversight and time alone, I remember it well. Yeah I’m homesick from time to time and your videos are such fun. Thank you. Until we get home…
