  • This is Brendan Weinstein, a 27 yr old wingsuit pilot. Brendan and his team spent 2 weeks planning this flight down the Mettelhorn in Randa, Switzerland.
When I came across this video, I was so captivated at how dangerous and amazing it looked. So I got in contact with Brendan and interviewed him about this video, and asked him all about this flight.
Brendan runs the company BaseBeta which is dedicated to serving base jumpers, and has done roughly 1200 wingsuit flights, 700 base jumps, and 800 skydives. And spent weeks planning this flight with fellow jumpers.
    Thanks for watching

*1) How does the camera work looking back at him? I don’t see it attached* - The name of the camera he used was the GoPro Fusion 360 with a selfie stick. which removes the stick or makes it invisible.

The camera has two lenses looking in opposite directions, and the images caught by the lenses overlap where the camera's handle is located. That overlap {digitally removes} the image of the handle.

I love watching these amazing flights and wonder if I’d have the balls to do it, if I were younger and had the finances to afford to do it. The death rate is approx 0.2%, that may not sound high to some but if you compare it to other sports it’s very high. Its a sport that on average the expiry rate is 1/500 flights. The only sport that I think comes close would be F1 in the 50’s and 60’s.

They probably die like flies b/c they think they have to push the "envelope" of proximity to terrain. The wingsuit proves people can fly at least to a certain altitude. It's not the art itself at fault.

...right with you bro! I was in the attic throwing rope. Suitcases, old curtains and scrap cloth, sewing machine, French language Primer, then I paused to catch my breath....and from the kitchen (where l my phone) ...I caught the last part of the sentence , he says, ì would say don't try this at home... and all a sudden a rung on the ladder breaks - so I don't hear further. And don't really care, because I'm sure I've broken something. And ì admit to crying some when I didn't feel like my so called loved ones weren't paying enough attention.
In the end I decided attention was what I really wanted, and I seemed to be in good shape where that's concerned. There's a moral here, somewhere, wingman.... come see me sometime and we can talk it out over beer with the guys.
