As a former paratrooper, I wish I could be as half as cool as these guys.
You're fame might not be meteoric, but I'm sure all your impacts were. I've never heard of you airborne jumpers miss landing, only sometimes miss the landing zone. Compacted spines might night result in a stadium full of fans cheering you on, but it does let us have stadiums filled with fans cheering in relative peace.
Are the military issue parachutes like these ones in the video? I thought you guys used the round ones in which you can't really control where you're going. At least not as good as these square ones.

I was in the end zone quite a few years ago, of a NY Giants Wildcard game in SFO. It was nearing dusk when these guys came flying into the stadium, right over our heads, with all of them landing dead center in the stadium. Awesome event to see firsthand. Something you'll never forget!

Very safe to assume.
Military dictates safest methods possible for maximum death prevention, seals dont do crazy risky jumps ever. So this was the most dangerous they do.

Made a few short jumps back in 84-85 for fun in central Indiana from 3000-4000 ft. Watched the pros land barefooted inside a 3 foot square marker from 25 miles away. They deployed their chutes as soon as they jumped at 13,000 ft. Will never forget it.

The people that packed chutes for paratroopers in WWII had a success rate of 98 - 99% that they thought was good. The government began making them pick a chute randomly and jump themselves once a month. That percentage gap closed quickly.

I know a guy who works for a skydiving company, 16k jumps and counting - still gets the adrenaline rush.

These Pills I'd doubt it, any time there is anticipation of danger your brain can't help but to release adrenaline and things to keep you wide awake, attentive and performing your best.

When I turned 50 years old, I treated myself to my first parahute jump. When I was about to exit the small plane, I remember looking out the open door and was then instantly scared to death. However, once I was out wth my chute open, it was a wonderful experience.
My thought was "WOW, what a first step"?
It's funny how fear of heights is more common in parachutists than one would think
I saw a video once of a guy From military landing with a parachute, and even though he jumped From a high altitude, he broke both his legs and his career was over.

If they are dropping behind enemy lines they would do what is called a HALO jump. Basically jumping from an extreme altitude and opening your parachute at very low altitude. Making it really difficult to spot unless you knew the general area they were rallying at and looked at it right when they deployed the chutes.

I watched Navy do this at an Oakland Raiders game. These guys are good!
Most people would think this is such an scary task , but after what these guys have been put through, this is a cake walk.
Then again you think of the number of world war 2 pilots who survived doing double barrel rolls with lead flying past their faces only to end up dying a decade or so later as pilots in a commercial airline crash. It's like for some people they are in more danger the safer the task is.
As long as your chute opens. Otherwise it's a cake drop, which is not as fun.

I mean as a navy seals he's definetly jumped many times before, and you can hear in his voice he's not that excited, but instead trying to keep things coordinated, so I think his adrenaline levels were rather low

@@billthompson2301 I wondered that too. In my country it's against flag protocol for the flag to touch the ground. It is also not customary to fly it anytime, only on special occasions such as national holidays. You won't see second hand car dealerships flying the our flag every day. It's not forbidden but it's frowned upon.

As a hobbyjumper, these guys hovering so close to each other is utterly mind-blowing. If there's one thing they really drill into you before you jump, it's staying far away from each other.

Skydiving is hands down the most exhilarating feeling I've ever felt. That crowd roaring at the end probably made this 10x better for them.
