Loving GoldenEarring, I was at a second hand record store criusing. To the Hilt was 1 dollar, well Such-a-Deal, and that is when I heard Nomad, shit the best ever.
I was 20. Listening to it now 2022

This is just a phenomenal song on a phenom of an album. I'm from the States but boy did the U.S. miss it with G.E.

George toward the end of the song with Cesar tearing it up gives me goose bumps. Rock HOF= LOSERS for this omission. Maybe the guys don't care already eons ago turning down The Who (Cesar), and Jimi H (Rinus). George deserves it in his fight. Afterall, he is only admired by Clapton, Jimmy Page, Alex Lifeson, Almond's...when they were alive, C Santana, etc. And the mediocrity that IS represented in the Rock HOF. These 4 are more talented than high 90's% that are in there.

One of my favorite Earring songs. This song is great but also listen to what the rhythm section does. Just amazing

No dislikes! No wonder! How can anyone mix such intellectual lyrics with such talented musicianship? I can listen to this song straight and think I'm tripping!

you guys are absolutely right!!! one of my old bands played "to the hilt" in 1992, the drummer loved it, I got this when I was 14,it was a little over my head, but I grew to LOVE it after about a year-long songs, very sophisticated arrangements-

Kooymans background howls are so haunting excellent guitar work. Kooymans had to of been some kind of economical secret weapon. The guy can sing like a woman so they don’t need to hire chicks for vocals. He has shrieks that would make king diamond jealous. Makes me wonder if some of the early Earring influenced him. Back to this song. It combines Yes and Pink Floyd effectively. Reminds me of both bands but GE effectively puts their special stamp on it. Music to take drugs to!

Brilliant travel song, It captures the monotony and fatigue of being on the road, plus the disconnect; all for what?: 'Yeah I see you down below from my hotel window, on the run: Star Trek's on we got a dream in common'

well,as you all, seem to be updated,to the brilliant earring times, from about 69 up to 76,ok,,as well, " TO THE HILT ",as to me a closier,to an amazing dutch rock era,ok,and then, of course, gotten in touch, with albums, like surly another peak-carrier album, "MOONTAN ",with, like con man,are you revceiving me and all,and justthe same , " SEVEN TEARS ",- " CONTRABAND",- SWITCH",as for me,a closier for this amazing band era, right, oh yeah -" TOGETHER ",and one of the best live albums, from ,as i recall it right 74 ,this white dubble album, with redlettering and pics, lol,at that time, especially 74,was for me personally ,in any kind and in any which way,one of my first awesome,ROCK `N `ROLL years,to be followed up,with loads of more great ,awesome moments in space-base times, lol, well,im german born and came in february 74,to live here in holland,to be exact, here in sittard -geleen,just been turing 13 thatyear in may and guess what, well, know all dutch guys, immediately wonder off to,hey,
" PINKPOP ",in these days,a brilliant festival, surly to me,74,at age 13,myfirstlive gigs, with of course,in the same year,at PINKPOP, golden earring, steelers wheel, capt. beefheart with his magic band, status quo,i thought, ooohh yeah, one hell of an old and sadly enough, late, " RORY GALLAGHER",wow, what a time,a place to be,the first years to come, always possible,as hppened to myself,a way for free entrance ,lol, can recall, well was just a kid, came looking around the corner,he heeee, always had as well, free drinks, due to the ,stil back then glass bottles of soft drinks and beer bottles,i was trying to gather at the fest and can recall, folks gave me all their bottles gladly, hmmm, lol, being so young and all, lived just several blocks away from the festival, always and even, due to this idea/action popping up,at my first PINKPOP fest, returned, with quite some left over money of ghathering these bottles, just an awrsome year, for myself,ok,love and light,to all music lovers,of the earrings first chapter music-times,thx again,to jan smeets of course and just ya all, keep on rocking the fucking free world, ralf carstensen

@CantDoThatOnStage I totally agree. its amazing to me how incredible this album is and how utterly unknown GE is in the States outside of their two hits. Thank God i was an army brat and went to school in Germany, got turned on to real music at a nice young age. "Switch is my second favorite.

IMO "Eight miles high", "Moontan", "Wall of Dolls" and most from "Seven tears" are their peak but nevertheless they wrote great music through all the 70s

I personally don't think the 'To the Hilt' album can hold a candle to 'Moontan', but it was a nice step in the progressive direction, though it's a bit too heavy overall on the synthesizer for my tastes. But I like the moodiness of this song (as well as 'Violins', too). The band aborted this direction and went for a different sound on their next release.

ok...I've been listening to why me for a couple of days now and no wonder it was one of my favorite records in the 70s (saw them in Santa Monica right after this came out) and I realize now how radar love was probably a curse because I never really heard them any more. bummer. p.s. still a great album. made in a real studio with analog equipment. sounds better that way
