If I had to guess why Rikka Princess is allowed to summon herself from hand with no cost, it’s because she’s fueled by plant puns.
Konami should have just made the effect "At the beginning of your turn, special summon this card from the hand, graveyard or deck." and fill the rest of the space with honest to goodness flavor text.
If ten minute testing ends up turning into twenty minute testing I wouldn't have a problem with that
If its name is now 20 minute testing, it would have to be a 30 minute video. Thats the law

It would be at least 20 min anyway if MBT spoke at a regular speed, probably even more. I mean...I don't really mind him talking fast and I would run through these effects as quickly as possible too. The bigger problem is that the card effects have gotten so voluminous that it's necessary to get to the point fast. I already fall asleep when I just see a link monster. Links were supposed to slow the game down, not make it even faster. At least Rikkas have an interesting mechanic. They remind me of Fire Kings, one of my favourite decks. Fire Kings destroy, Rikkas tribute.

You can maybe cut all the time references out to avoid issues. You could call it something like "What The Deck" as a fun little pun 👍

@@geiseric222 I'm talking about the Rikka support. The sunavalon stuff has always been used in it but wasn't nearly as good (as said in this very video) til the 2 new Rikka cards.
Sunavalon themselves got good legacy support that made them playable too. Aka Sowing.

It was funny hearing your different take on the deck, because it really is actually a deck that sets up a 6 interrupt board and usually doesn't let the game go past turn 3 haha! unfortunately you go through the extra deck to fast to play the long game haha.

I taught the plants to tribute summon (opponent’s monsters).
This has been what I'm playing this format and it's really fun. The fact that the endboard doesn't care too much about dark ruler because you can have a negate in hand/grave, a negate when something is tributed and snatch steal which tributes your opponents monster for cost is so helpful this format. Another downside I feel like you neglected is that this deck is abysmal against trap decks. All the Rikkas points of interaction are based around monsters and monster effects and it really can't stop a set 5 pass from ruining their day (unless you're cool and play naturia rosewhip or something)

I've been playing Rikka for months now and I didn't know their new support was this insane, it turns Sheet into a devastating tool and Primula gets so much better with Princess and Glamour getting her for almost free
Definitely gonna get the Sunavalon pack and learn how to use them, this looks like so much more fun than Teardrop pass

Honestly the Spright being Zoodiac is a pretty good comparison, its splashable in a ton of decks and relatively low investment into the deck assuming the deck is already 2 centric
That game vs swordsoul was such good ygo, he played through a very good board like nothing so cool
The Rikka princess summon herself as easy as Tenyi using it's effect.
What's even more funny is her plant "lock" only active when she's on the field (not turn lock after it summon) so she can be use as a starter for some other plant engine...
Coming here after the European Championships, I think we can say that this deck is quite good. Joseph got it right when he said that this deck is nuts.
Remember when this archetype debuted in secret slayers but was completely swept under the rug by full power adamancipator and eldlich? I'm glad it got support and the recognition it deserves

Lowkey Rikka is my favorite deck. I went to my locals with it that played some of my old plant cards I liked like Tytannial, Periallis, and Queen of Thorns and I actually went undefeated the first time I did that. It’s great to see plants top, especially this one that can win grind games as long as Petal is in grave.

I've been playing Rikkas for months with some trap build, using the good old Torrential Tribute (with Kairyu-Shin because Rikkas are WATER) + Solemn Strike to clear boards. Though I wish more people would take a look at Rose Girl, that card recycling itself is the cherry on top of Petal's recurring searches, allows you to do a new Xyz every turn by getting her back from the GY, and sometimes she can allows you to keep going after being disrupted.
When Joseph actually puts effort into his content (like these TMTs), it really is unbeatable

At 10:30 i think you should've led with konkon instead of one for one to bait out longyuan banish, since it's a powerful card and they'll most likely will try to banish it, then you punish them with the gamma you drew for turn.

Hey MBT you should try out Ogdoadic Reptiliannes. they are prone to brick but have really good answers with the Reptilianne fieldspell and Melusine stealing monsters (Melusine has distruction protection btw), extremely good recursion even against banishing with the Ogdoadic engine, multiple field wipes during the opponents turn with Halq+Hydra and Ogdoabyss, can tribute opponents monsters with Vaskii who also has a destruction effect, has protection with Dingirsu and can end with even just a decent start in a 4 mat Apollousa and Ogdoabyss. The Melusine+Fieldspell combo can be made with nearly any reptile and Reptilianne Ramification Also Snake Rain.
The go 2nd deck is better imo as Lamia requires the opponent to have a monster on their field to be specialed and you've got many ways to push through you opponents disruption but a go first control varient is what i recently started to play.
The deck has been able to consistently beat swordsouls and non-Dark Law Heros with both the go 1st and go 2nd variants and has a decent match-up against Adventure and P.U.N.K Thereon (low sample size so I can't be too sure).
This deck has a really low budget outside of meta staples in a go 2nd variant and Foolish+Monster Reborn.
This deck is not competative because of its really low lows which happen more frequently than i'd like but if you high roll you pop off really hard.
I've been playing Sylvans a lot recently splashing the Rikka package and it puts in a ton of work. Princess is an amazing extender and you can pretty much always search Snowdrop with Mardel over the course of your combos to end on Teardrop with a Princess in grave. You also don't plant lock yourself at any point beforehand so endboards can be super versatile.
I can't wait to see a plant link or a therion version of this.
Its honestly not that good. Plant link gets demolished by DRNM and this version doesn't even care about it. The Therion package might be ok but since Petal is your most important card here it conflicts with summoning Regulus to get that negate.
You can play it, but unfortunately if you wanna play the new rikka support it gets wonky with therions, since any rikka that isn't named princess (and even her you have to get off the field) locks you out of regulus.
And also it gets hard to make the deck just 40 or even 45 cards once you include some going second cards.
You can totally incoporate the new support in plant link and it's a pretty good deck, but it may be even a bigger challenge to play and (especially) to build
kind of funny to say but Therions got power crept by princess and konkon in Rikka's. they're better going first or second. Therion's are mostly only good going first and don't help break boards at all.

This is very helpful for building my Rikka Sunavalon deck! Pulled a collector's rare Teardrop a while back and it made me wanna build this deck! This video helped me find a semi cheap version of this deck so I can play it IRL (even tho Jasmine is a $7 card and Snowdrop is $15)
rikka has been my favorite rogue deck in master duel, now i have something to look forward to when the new support hits.
I'm so glad plant piles start to find their way in tiered metagames ! I've been working on some predaplant oriented versions since rikka's support annoucement and i really trust this archetype to make a cut

I agree. I had a thought last year to invest in Rikka cuz the art is beautiful and they're waifus, but I must've gone with something else back then. I just checked TCGP and Snowdrop is like $30 per, and Rikka Glamour is over $15 per rn, I'm kicking myself for sure.

Love rikkas 💙, also I think that the original player used a trashed because that way with loci you can go dryas, sowing, link the 3 monsters into melias revive loci and make a trasher that's 3200 atk, attacks 2 times (thanks to melias) and can steal 2 of the opponent monsters (if u didn't use rikkas this turn), which is great for otks.
Edit: also to clarify you can still do the normal line, you just start with trasher instead of another healer off the dryas effect
I'm so so glad my girls got their new support in the custom card set(seriously just read peony and tell me it's not a custom card lol) and not before,the 2 new cards solve almost every issue the deck had on release while giving them the play style they should have always had, I love them so much, awesome TMT as always!

Sunavalon is so funny because as long as your favorite shit card has "plant" written on it you now have a 1 card combo that doesn't use your normal that gets you 2-3 searches 2 lonefire tributes and god personally giving you a high five
i could spend decades just finding new ways to combine weird plant cards together, Sunavalons just allow for anything to work.
Have a 3 card combo you will never get in bracket? Pffft just use jasmines effect 3 times idiot oh and don't forget to get your free summons on the way out!
Have a shitty pet deck you want to top 8 a regional? Slapping on a benghalancer and a bunch of free resource fodder should make that 1 negate end board better!
Konami made broken support for one of their shitty archetypes again? Now it's tier 2. Take it or leave it.

This deck is a lot crazier than people give it credit for. Played against spright in locals that always opened up 3 hand traps, a started and I still ended in a board that guaranteed I didn't die their turn. Being able to out Toad or any problematic monster with Konkon + any rikka card is hilarious as well.
You teach the Fish to Synchro, then teach the Plants to Xyz, what's next, teaching the Beast-Warriors to Scrimblo Summon?
Teaching snakes to xyz summon when they finally print new reptile xyz support (or give ogdoadics the rank 8 xyz their engine loop is screaming to end on).
