  • It's finally time to get this thing finished! Well, taken completely apart, put back together, and THEN finished! Several months ago we started the process of doing a Code 504 S10 frame swap for a customers 1953 Chevy truck, everything is now in the same place and ready for us to move forward!
Having ripped the bones from our S10 donor truck the frame was cleaned up, stripped down, prepped then sent down to our good friends at Bulletliner of Columbus for media blasting and coating. As this truck is essentially a "frame off restoration" we wanted to make sure it would stand the test of time as well as maintain a great look and finish for years to come!
With all of that back in the shop and the truck in its current form here, we move forward with the tear down! Now, as with any classic car or muscle car (muscle truck) there are going to be things previous hands have done that may add some... complications. This project is certainly no exception as we battle fitment issues all over the place as well as we'll call it "questionable" build quality. All things we will remedy along the way! With the looks this truck already has, getting it to be a fun safe enjoyable drive is a must!
The donor Chevy S10 was a 2000 model year standard cab long bed, with 118 inch wheel base. Our previous videos delve into the prep work needed to get this process begun, feel free to watch those as we walk you through this project car (project truck) build!
As a small independent automotive repair shop in Central Ohio just outside of the Columbus / Dublin area we do our best to help each and every customer we work with to achieve their dreams and this vehicle is no exception! From hot rods to race cars, imports and domestics, classics and modern rides we're here to help!
We hope you enjoy the video, thank you to all of our subscribers both new and old who show your support for what we do on here!

I'm in for this build since I too am doing a Code 504 kit on a 1948 5 Window with an LS (LQ4). I hope I can pick up a few tips from you as you progress. You are right about there being a lot of work to prep the frame. I had to cut down an extended cab frame which added to my build. I also sandblasted and Painted my frame. They do a great job on the brackets though so didn't mind the work. It makes everything look so much better.

Well welcome aboard we have another video in this build going live on Thursday with more of the process. Spending the time on prep before hand DEFINITELY pays off on assembly!
As Ole Gran Dads say, Measure Twice cut once! :)

If you are just jumping in on the video series now definitely go back and watch the playlist from the beginning. We go through almost the entire process including getting the frame out of the donor truck.

Depending on what exactly you are working with, the pricing isn't bad at all. Roughly speaking all told you're in the $1200-$1600 range for the entire kit from Code 504

I like the info that you are giving during the video but all the standing talking drives me nuts. why explain what your doing and then show us doing it. its wasy easier to combine both do the job and talk about it at the same time.
