    To shingle out as IT Consulting Engineer,one should have degree in CS(Computer Science)/ CpE(Computer Engineering) / IT(Information Technology)/ SE(S/W Engineering) with Gov't License as PE/PEng/CEng. But SE degree holders with License may work only as S/W Consulting Engineers & not as H/W Consulting Engineers or N/W Consulting Engineers

    Awesome video as usual Mahdi. Definitely agree this is an awesome career to get into. If I recall correctly only around 1/5 of things that will eventually be on the cloud are on the cloud at this current time. Cloud migrations are a huge area and also lots of frameworks + apps are cloud hosted, e.g. Workday, Xero, machine learning frameworks by google or IBM, and more and more companies will use these going forward. If you know how to use these and configure these for different clients you will never be out of work.
    If anything, I feel like the difficult part is trying to figure out what exactly you want to specialise in, because you're just spoiled for choice.

      So true! I feel the easiest way you have is to actually speak to people working in the field, then look for product demos and see what's the most interesting software/ERP for you! When you're inside the industry I feel it's easier to switch!

    Hi!
    I wanted to know what are the different roles that are on an IT consulting team. I presumed that an IT consultant just does market research and provides some data based on which decisions can be made related to the project, didn't know that they actually solve the project (create the application).
    Can you please clarify on this.
    Thanks

    Insane that the jobs only dropped 5%! Not sure why IT consulting doesn't get the hype that other types of consulting does. Over the past 5 years, it is the fastest growing part of consulting (especially digital) - bringing the most revenue in and hence, since you get promoted based on that....a good career to be in! Super informative video! Loved the bit about we have to do it all over again haha!

    I am confused in my career. I took a job break to break into IT but I am still feeling lost.

    • @independentconsultant

      It's kinda different! IT consulting can involve helping clients decide what IT solution is best for them, then implementing it while customizing it to that specific client. System integrator is a bit more technical and square

    @adrianjason13 Před 3 lety +1

    So you still do a considerable amount of coding even as an IT consultant? I was expecting hands-on coding for this to be very minimal to none, and more one client-facing, documentations, and presentations.

    • @independentconsultant
      @independentconsultant  Před 3 lety +2

      Minimal "coding" even though I don't consider what I do as "coding" - When working with ERP like Workday and SAP it's more similar to the drag and drop and other type of "simple" configuration and more client facing/presentations. You still need extensive training to know how to configure both solutions tho

  • @gabriellachristinakandinat1925

    So do you build the prototype and app yourself? Like ure basically like can do software engineer but also a consultant?

    • @independentconsultant
      @independentconsultant  Před 4 lety +1

      We build the prototype but not all by ourself, we're a team of 15-20 people per project! Also it doesn't involve coding, so I won't call myself a Software Engineer, Workday looks like a drag and drop software (but more complicated)
