as a driver this is my worst fear. it's not my driving i'm scared of, it's other people's.
That’s one of the reasons I tell my parents I’m moving to ny after high school. Me being such a slow person I don’t think I’d react fast enough to avoid an accident like my dad does. I’m also afraid that I might not see correctly and then end up getting myself and someone else into a tragic mess. I got my permit and realized driving is fun but it’s so dangerous and scary that I rather not take that risk.

When I first started driving my Old man told me you have to assume that everybody else driving is either drunk, on drugs or retarded, never trust other people's driving, always be cautious, drive slow and check your mirrors and blind spots constantly. Been driving 10 years not 1 accident

I only *just* avoided wrecks a few times because of that. One of them was probably lighting Marijuana while getting on the highway, since it was 4:20 PM. I just looked in the mirror, saw him/her coming fast, and I slammed the brakes since no one was behind me. Whoever it was got off at the very next exit, too, just 3/4 of a mile away.

I watched it in 0.25 speed. It sounds like he might be saying "I COULDN'T STOP," but only after he whined at the driver for something that's not the driver's fault. So the question is, did his brakes fail, or did he fail to brake? He did see the car just before the collision, since he was looking in the direction of the car and he slightly veered away from it. He's lucky he didn't get run over.

(The second clip) Biker was at fault. He ran the stop sign and then proceeded to treat the jeep driver like crap, and had the audacity to yell “I’VE BEEN STABBED!!!!!!”. Also he seemed a bit odd, the way he was screaming “WOOOOOO!” as he sped down the rode and from what I could tell he had a cape on (?). Possibly drunk or mental, idk. Either way he’s at fault.

Well u can’t get mad, there are reasons to run a red light in a emergency such as this old man rushed to the hospital while his son had cancer and something was wrong with his son, so he ran the red light the police caught him and they put him in court and then the old man explained what happend and why he ran the red light. Then the judge forgave him and told him that he is a good man and his case is cancelled.

Many, Many years ago before dashcams were available to everyone I was at a red light I got side swiped, STUPIDLY I listened to the 911 operator and moved my car... With no witnesses that stayed, no photos etc. I got ticketed, screwed up my driving record.... If I had a dashcam it would have saved me the money for the ticket, the deductible and my driving record.

JerseyMark honestly if you run a yellow you’ll be fine. The traffic lights have a grace period between turning red and a then 1 or 2 seconds where everyone is red before it goes green for the next set of cars. If you went through on a yellow, the traffic lights should be fine because they take into account how long it takes to get through the intersection travelling at the speed. That’s why it really bothers me when the lights have just turned green for me, and I have to wait for one or even two cars to travel their entire time through the intersection, meaning it was definitely red for them for plenty of time and they still decided to go.

Ive had the misfortune of seeing some really bad crashes happen in front of me over the years and I've said the same thing about them, totally unavoidable. Almost always because of careless, stupid moves and failing to pay attention. I think many people forget driving is a "privilege" not a right.

If it was a green light yes, but because it was yellow, he had to clear the intersection so he didn't impede other traffic. The car that was going straight should have stopped considering the white car was turning and had to make it through the intersection. The car going straight should have stopped.

The audio's not very good, he might have said "I COULDN'T STOP," and the "cape" seems to be a leather jacket that's not zipped up. Slow it to 0.25. I still don't understand why he went down the hill in the first place if his brakes were bad, but it could just be a case of "it can't happen to me... until it does." By the time he realized the car was there (and he did, see the footage; he looks in the car's direction and veers away a bit,) it was too late.
