Badlands 2020 - EF Gone Racing

- After a summer spent in the wild, EF Gone Racing’s alternative calendar is back with a familiar face and an all-new race - the Badlands. A 700km non-stop unsupported gravel race through the Sierra Nevada of southern Spain, the Badlands traverses some of Europe’s highest mountains and its only desert. In short, this a race reserved for the bold and the brave, and perfect for Lachlan Morton. After the last-minute cancellation of the Cape Epic mountain bike race in March, the endlessly adventurous Australian was eager for another off-road odyssey. All we had to do was try and keep up…

Please give this man everything he needs so he can keep cycling the way he wants cause he sure gives u the inspiration to go further. So much respect and admiration 🙌🏽🙏🏽🙌🏽🙏🏽🙌🏽🙏🏽
He lost his contract with EF
"Just me, mah bike and mah Gahhmin." My new way of announcing I'm going out for a ride. 🚲
"like just me and like mah bike and like mah Gahhmin like"
Australian accent required, yes, absolutely a must.
His time compared to everyone else is just ridiculous. No wonder the guy was hallucinating at the end lol.
If I had it in me to race at that pace, I'd much rather spend 46 hours like Lachlan and hallucinate as opposed to 149 hours for the guys in the 50th places... In a way it's a much tougher race if you're not as fit and lightweight as Lachlan...
@@lechprotean no way around it.. completing this race is hard as hell
Lachlan is a living legend don’t know how he does it , but glad he does
This is why endurance sports are so cool. EF's alternate schedule is a game changer for cycling. It will be no time before other teams follow EF's lead.
I sure hope so! I love that EF puts the "everyman" approach into the videos. And Lachlan is so talented, so humble, so approachable, and so genuine. Very uplifting and reaffirming to see someone at his level so "human".
That's an interesting point - I'm not sure they will; they seem to be very 'conservative' and all about the World Tour. Though I hope you're right - this is more relatable to us normal cyclists.
@@jddallager1699 Comes with being an Aussie :-)
Dig Lachlan, don’t really care too much about bike racing - if Lachlan rode bike to the store to get a candy bar, it would be entertaining and worth watching. These EF race videos are so good! Cheers, SO-TTF
We actually watched him do that in the GBDuro - he just also biked a lot before and after that scene. It was as enthralling as you say.
@@jamieroszel haha so great - I will have to RE-watch that one!
I saw a man that was actually a rock but things didn't get weird until nightfall
I just about spit out my coffee reading it put this way
The moment you realised that while he was doing the interview, there were still a good number still racing
Another ultra race, another Lachlan Morton vision quest :D
Glad this series back! Golden standard of how cycling content should be! Kinda wish they also do gone racing for the world tour calendar tho! But thanks for the content in this hard times ef&rapha❤️!
Finally, the return of the best cycling series on youtube! (and Lach ofc ^>^)
Agreed
He destroyed the field. Top level sportsmen are a different breed.
Lachlan is a different breed :D You wont find many Guys who a willing to do that Like He does it
Rode that race, i just realize who was Latchan months after..ops! 🤣😅 I was the 27 finisher 🤘🤘
Lachlan is a beast! Won by 15+ hours. Wow!
And then Hayden came in 7 hours ahead of 3rd place.
Lachlan's vibe and drive is so inspiring! Thank Rapha and EF for giving this man a platform!
I love how Lachlan always talks like a stoner and these videos always include fitting music for that. Insane effort, all those ultra distance events are really taxing on him but he just rides through everything the race throws at him, takes an iron mind to just push on through that suffering. There's a lot to be learned from that for all of us.
I feel bad about his (non-pro) competition though because they basically get slaughtered, no chance for them. Then again I guess people in these events are more racing themselves than other participants.
I’ve been saying the same thing for years, Loci is Australian but he sounds like an American stoner when he talks, even some of his mannerisms are stomper like but his blood doesn’t have a micro mole of any drugs. He runs on pure tenacity.
I love when he starts talking about getting ready for the Giro and the bells start ringing. "Don't ask for whom the bell tolls..."
Another great signature movie by Rapha, another super-human performance by Lachlan. Best cycling stuff you can find around. Thinking one day Lachlan may enter the RAAM or attempt the Round-the-World record. Or maybe not because he'd rather have a good laugh with his mates after a gruelling no-sleep stint. Freedom vs stardom.
edibles kick in at 10:26 the soundtrack and Lachys trip are a whole vibe 🤣
Thanks Rapha, Lachlan and everyone else for this, there's a lot of good cycling content online, but there's so much that puts Rapha's a head above the rest. The style, the passion for cycling, the humour, Lachlan's childish wonderment at what the world has to offer, and how we're all bewildered at what the human body and mind is capable of. And it's always beautiful.
Cheers 👍👍
The vibe Lach gives out is so inspiring. Stay real homie. Cheers.
Lachland always laughs when he talks about any pain he experienced. I love that.
The end of the video when Lachy and the other rider were laughing together is fun times.
Lachlans level of riding and his vibe is nothing but inspiring. Thanks Rapha for this piece 👌🏼
It's a great day when a Lachy alt race video comes up!!! Please sir, can I have some more?
Just discovered this. These videos got me through COVID at the peak of last summer. Stoked to see they're still going!!
The moment new album of builder’s tea came out I knew it’s some film to watch soon
so glad this series is back!
Trip (noun):
1. A journey or excursion
2. A hallucinatory experience
Love these alternate racing vids
Amazing Giro warm up! Love your videos Lachlan, thanks for doing these events!
Thanks again for another inspiring video! Lachlan is a machine! 🦾
You guys are incredible 👍💪👏🇦🇺
Awesome. Yes, night riding is surreal!
I love this dude, he’s crazy
been waiting for another upload. thanks rapha films
Lachlan is a beast!!!! He is so good at these events. His ability to endure the pain, to have the mental toughness required is so awesome. I love the Baguette pick up, that is what I would eat.
Keep up the good work of showing us these alternative races! It's so much fun to watch Lachlan pushing himself!
The Myth, The Legend, The GOAT 🙇♂️
These are so good, I love the adventure races and watching them is amazing, I have recentley done the same and swapped the road racing for the adventure calender and im so much happier
What an absolute legend.
Well documented psychedelic experience, great viewing!
Thanks Lachlan and EF
48 hours without sleep must be horrendous!! Hats off to the guy. Legend.
Congrats Lachie, awesome effort!
No one had a chance... what an incredible margin. Well done Lachy!
This guy is such a madman. i would watch him race the whole thing. Legendary fortitude.
The alternative calendar is the best. Congrats Lachlan!
Love it, what an epic ride and event 👏 Having raced 24 solos I can definitely understand that thought of just pushing to the "What if I ..." Stage and pushing past. Epic effort from all the riders
makes me want to get out and ride, Thank you
favorite rider, all time.
I really enjoy EF Gone racing with Lachlan. He is the most chill guy ever
Great, just great !
The mind is an extraordinary place ...🚴🏽♂️💨✌🏽💯
Unbelievable what the mind can do. Firstly for Lachlan to complete the event and in the time he did, then on the other end of the spectrum how his mind played tricks on him
So good!
Groovy music. Great cuz you don't notice it so much.
I want to see Lachlan do the Atlas Mountain Race, dang guy is a machine. Kudos to GCN taking 3rd! Awesome videos as always.
LEGEND - when I grow up, I want to be like Lachlan
Lachlan just such a cool dude.
HIPPY came in 7th place... what a name.
Bravo Lachy!!!
What a cool dude. Hope u win the giro stage mate.
Holy shit Lachlan beat the 2nd place finisher by 16 HOURS?
this man is a beast
Lachie makes me smile so much.
Anyone notice the guy who came in 7th was just named “Hippy” haha sickkkkk.
You can follow him on Twitter!
@@simonnichelson8637 The lazy so and so isn't doing much at the moment ;)
Crazy effort
lachy morton is pretty inspiring, riding for 43 hours is just ridiculous yet so awesome haha
Ten hours! Classic Aussie at the same time...
"But it'll be cool. I mean, it can't be much harder than that ride"
I don't care who wins the giro, Lachlan has already won it in my opinion.
Amazing!!! So great upload thank for sharing. I support your channel and I look forward to next videos and watching your visit.
Massive!
He is one bad ass dude!!!!!
待っましたぁ!!!
Hardcore 💪🏻💪🏻
Please come out to South Africa and come and ride The Munga!
Couldn't give a toss about the UCI world tour, or whatever it's called, this is what cycling should be all about. Lachlan is the DUDE!
10th place almost twice as long...just crazy.
Minor psych experience with the stars
Legend doesn't really do LM service, its obvious his is a passion for riding his bike that watching these films just makes me happy to be alive and healthy and also in love with riding my bike, just keep on this path man and EF obv! Dare I suggest the Trans Continental race across Europe, too much?
I turn 52 this month and I want to be as strong as Lachy when I grow up.
I’ve fully done the accidental call thing out on a ride. Made for some worried parents!
I hope he pulls back a little after this one. That much time hallucinating on the bike in the dark with no one in the middle of nowhere is a recipe for bad things. I don't want him to become a 70's rock-star tragedy of the cycling world. He's already a legend without going to that extreme.
How amazing was Lachlan's win? Not only did he beat the 2nd place rider by 15 hours, he beat the 3rd place rider by 22 hours! Can you imagine being in 3rd place, while finishing almost an entire day behind the winner? To top it off, the best relay team completed the race in 61 hours. Chapeau!
GOAT
Spero di rivedere filmati come quelli degli anni scorsi per esempio Taipei, Hong Kong, Seoul, Niseko, Perspectives.
🌄🚵♂ The adventure, the thrill, the beauty - this video has it all. We're thrilled to add it to our collection and share in the cycling joy. 🎉
You've never truely bonked till you've hallucinated!
The results 😳
Love Lachlan; miss Taylor.
At first I thought, "What's wrong with his shifter covers? Are they off for now?" Then he started racing without shifter covers and I thought, "Is this guy mad?" By the end I thought, "Everything checks out!"
If there was a world championship for self-supported solo ultra-distance cycling then Lachlan would be wearing rainbows!
Don't forget Lael Wilcox. She's a total legend in ultra endurance racing.
I've had those hallucinations on some audaxes, your response to them rather than the hallucinations themselves is always weird because you just sort of accept them and keep going.
Eye mask... makes so much sense
Hope he gets to ride Cape Epic next year since this year was cancelled
I guess Lachlan is realllllly good at social distancing, solid effort!
Ngeriii!
S/o man like Ashley Ash coming in with the 4th
Great edit.
A race of pacing proper and consuming enough water and sugar each hour to keep watts at your max you can sustain for 720km.
What.A.Man.
Hippy 7th!
