  • It's now easier than ever to move from one mobile provider to another. From 1st July 2019 you can request your porting authorisation code (PAC) either online or via a text message.
    Text PAC to 65075 to get a porting authorization code to move your number.
    Text STAC to 75075 to get a service termination authorization code to terminate your number when you change provider.

      Nope. There is usually some downtime as the number is ported, but there shouldn't be any loss to your WhatApp messages. There's a setting to automatically back them up to your Google account that might be worth turning on if you're worried about data loss.

    can the pac code be used by another individual?

    • @markjdraper
      @markjdraper  Před 4 lety

      Not sure what you mean? The code is sent to the number that requests it. You give the code to your new mobile provider when signing up and they'll arrange the number port.

    Can I use the STAC Code to change my number on O2? P.S I’m not changing network.😊

    • @markjdraper
      @markjdraper  Před 3 lety +1

      No, a STAC is for terminating your service. In both cases you give the code to your new provider, they use it to coordinate you moving networks and will either move your number or terminate it if you provide a STAC. If you want to change your number you should call O2 directly and I'm sure they'll help you out.

      @@rhiannajoseph4443 100%, it stops your number when moving networks, it's only used when switching provider. It's nothing to do with changing your number.

      No, it's for network swaps. Your networks customer service team should be able to sort out any same network SIM changes for you.

    Hi, do you have any information on double porting a PAC CODE? I'm currently with Vodafone and contract is up for renewal. I now want to take out sim only with them but what they've offered me is not competitive. Could I port to a one month contract or PAYG then port back to Vodafone?

    • @markjdraper
      @markjdraper  Před 2 lety +1

      Yes you could port out, then wait for a better deal and port back in. It's the same process each time, get the PAC, move supplier.

    Question about STAC, My 18 month Pay Monthly Vodafone contract end date is 9th March and I want to leave and not take my number with me.
    I don't need a SIM just now because of covid but am willing to buy a cheap 'pay as you go' to leave Vodafone. If my end date is 9th March, which day should I text STAC to them?
    Also, as it will be a 'pay as you go' new SIM and STAC texts are free, do i enter the STAC code in new SIM before my first top up or after I've topped up?
    Can anyone reply please as i know we they say we don't need 30 day notice now but i am paranoid as it is approaching 30 days before my contract ends and I don't want to pay extra money needlessly.
    Thanks

    • @markjdraper
      @markjdraper  Před 3 lety

      A STAC is designed for people moving from one provider to another who want billing to start/stop on the same day. In your situation I wouldn't bother with the STAC, I'd just call up and cancel the service to your old mobile seeing as you've got the new SIM.

    So how does 65075 know which provider I am using?

    • @markjdraper
      @markjdraper  Před 4 lety +1

      All numbers are owned by a network, eg EE. You text the number and it goes to the central system in charge of porting, they lookup who your network is and send the request to them to process.

    • @markjdraper
      @markjdraper  Před 4 lety

      As in both have the same mobile number? With a traditional SIM you can't do that, you could probably do it with a VoIP service.

      Who is your provider? The system worked as you had a message back, it sounds like your provider isn't correctly set up to send the required information to you.
