    I have the 600 version. 1st trip is complete- huge improvement over the Curt 600 (w/ sway damper) I had before. Faster hook-up (with less chance of hand injury) only sway was following a truck.

    That’s a pretty sweet hitch. I like the hitching up process, simple and quick. I also like that nothing is hanging below the trailer frame. I think I may go with this when we upgrade trailers.

    Bought the TR3 based on your reviews. Really like the ease of set up and the integrated anti-sway. Got the lighter 600lb (800lb tongue max) model for a new-to-me Jayco Flite 264BH pulled by my Chevy Silverado LTZ which has a full towing package, but only rated for 6400lb towing due to it’s softer ride and 3.08 rear end.

    Very well done & presented. I kinda had my mind made up a couple months ago when I watched your video testing the others. I wanted to try the Anderson because over the years I have been just plain tired of the weight on & off of the other WDH. The Anderson takes me about 2 minutes on & 2 minutes off and is so light. No up & down; just use my 18 volt Milwaukee impact and spin on or off the large nut, drop the batwing yoke & we're done ! I have ~9500# tt & tow with an F350 7.3l gasser. You cemented the gas vs diesel for me there as well.... Works very well...

    I just bought a 37' tt toyhauler a went with the BW Continuum after watching your vids on it and love it. Being a toy hauler I went with it because of ease of adjustment because of the size differences of the various toys being hauled in the garage.
    This hitch would have been a possible choice with the fact that to make adjustments it is easier without needing to take it apart.

  • @northstarnick1953

    I have an older version of this hitch I believe. Called the r3. The head of this hitch looks really similar the one thing I didn’t like is that the instructions were extremely vague on adjusting the hitch head itself to the trailer. The main reason why I will strongly consider the weigh safe when shopping for my next hitch.

    One thing that I don't think you mentioned that I like about this hitch (and the R3, which I think was it's predecessor) is the fact that the bars don't curve down. This hitch has straight bars, and the R3 had more traditional curved bars but they were installed in reverse, so they curved up, which gives you much more clearance than bars that curve down from the hitch, especially if you get off the pavement...something we do with some frequency out West.

    It's acutally pronounced "easy lift"...they just created a brand logo to differentiate their products from the competition. I've been using them for over 30 years and they build good products. In all those years I have never had one fail on me. Thanks for the review on this model. I noted that you were just going to move the unit out to the street....I hope that you include a brief lift of your toungue jack to confirm that the ball is seized by the lock/latch on you trailer's toungue hitch...important step in getting ready to tow.

    I've been watching your videos all weekend. I'm getting my first larger trailer in a few months and trying to learn about weight distribution hitches and figure out what will work for me. What would you recommend? I have a 1/2 ton truck, will be pulling an aluminum enclosed car trailer that's 22' long (box length). Total weight when loaded will be 6500lbs. The trailer's frame is 2"x8", I'm finding most of the popular hitches only work for up to 6" trailer frames.

    I was on the fence between this hitch and the equalizer 4 till I found out after contacting the manufacturer for the TR3 with concerns about the brake material wearing out. They said the issues they have had is people are not removing the seay control pressure when they are done towing. So when you are at destination you must loosen the Allen bolt every time. Deal breaker for me. What a pain in the butt.

  • @jallred1776
    @jallred1776 Před rokem

    I have a lighter trailer - 24ft 4,200lbs empty and 6,500lbs fully loaded - being towed with a Suburban 2500. The back of the Suburban hardly drops, but I still want an anti-sway hitch because I'm paranoid about loosing control going down steep hills in the Rockies/Uintas (where we frequently camp).
    You mention that the anti-sway properties go up to 300 ft lbs. A video from WeighSafe mentions that it can add 1,000lbs or more of sway control. But the anti-sway properties of the WeighSafe come from distribution weight binding metal on metal, so a light trailer like mine that almost doesn't need weight distribution might not get much sway control at all from the WeighSafe.
    The TR3 anti-sway comes from a brake pad and seems to be independent of how much weight is distributed by the hitch, which would be ideal in my case.
    By the same logic, it sounds to me like the anti-sway properties of the TR3 might be undersized for larger/heavier trailers.
    Does my logic sound reasonable?

    • @tristanwwsd
      @tristanwwsd Před rokem

      The first point may be a good one but on the second point, the sway brake is adjustable so it may have a more grip than you would want.
      But I don't know. Just guessing. I like this setup. Going to look at it more.

    Wow very cool and easy. Raising the tongue on the Equalizer is a pain and sometimes when the truck is not level it can be hard to get the bars off.
    Btw what lock are you using for the hitch on the truck? I just bought the Curt hitch lock and not a fan. The lock part just spins and hard to determine if I’m locked without pulling on it. Had to upgrade to a larger lock with the new truck. Speaking of the new truck my 2022 f350 Godzilla 7.3 came in about a month ago and loving it. Can’t wait for next years camping season.

      Yes, you can backup without unhooking. The brake material will need to be replaced eventually but I’ll bet it last 100,000+ miles. I’m not sure if it’s replaceable or a new hitch is needed.

    I have the previous generation Eazlift and it works great. The only beef is it does make noise from time to time but that has to do with how well it is setup for WD. I think this should do better because it looks like you can adjust the hitch WD variably without spacers, so that is really nice. I am also really interested in the new Weighsafe hitch.
    Here is my big concern - The locked in bar that doesn't pivot. If you aren't perfectly straight isn't that going to cause some problems getting it on?

    I am going to Texas to buy my TT in a month. Not sure of make or model yet. How can i choose a hitch that will utilize sway control and weight distribution that will (i hate to say it this way) but would work universally? I am in SE Tennessee (TN/GA border) and will be making the journey back home from Texas with the trailer. Wont be loaded. I am not a newbie to pulling trailers coming from 20 years of truck driving. But I am however new to TT hitches. It will be towed with my 16 Toyota Tundra Crewmax 2wd. I am liking this particular hitch. I have a ProPride and it performs perfectly. However, occasionally it can be a bit time consuming getting hooked up. I have a 3100RD. I know you ranked the WeighSafe number 2. I also heard you say you’re considering selling your PP. I’m assuming you would replace the PP with the WeighSafe. Is that correct and if so, it looks like to me that hooking up would be slightly simpler with the WeighSafe. Thoughts?

    • @WanderingWeekends
      @WanderingWeekends  Před rokem

      Yes, the Weigh Safe is a bit simpler. The classic wheelbarrow type hitch. The big difference is you can set the Weigh Safe perfectly using the app and built in scale. The ProPride hitching gets easier with time but sometimes I needed more clearance in the front and yes… the stinger can be stubborn.

    Thanks for sharing. I'm surprised that you put it equal with the Equalizer. You say the TR3 performs as well on a 37' rig as the Equalizer on a 35' one. So better on the 35'? Also, did you take into account noise? You said the Equalizer was the loudest in the shootout. Also, how does setup compare to the others?

    • @WanderingWeekends
      @WanderingWeekends  Před rokem +1

      Equalizer has its advantages as well. Lifetime warranty, great build, USA built with USA steel. Those have to count for something. As far as strict performance I can ASSUME the TR3 would perform better that the Equalizer on our 32 footer but that would also be speculative. Yes, the Equalizer is very loud and the TR3 is silent. That isn’t a big deal for me but I know some will love that aspect of the hitch.

    Do you have to take the bars off to back the trailer into a camp site or driveway. We have to with our current WDH and I really hate having to do that.

      I would error on the side of the TR3. Hitching and unhitching is a breeze. Simply use the tongue jack to remove pressure off of the bars and it’s a breeze.
