Jay's was founded in 1927, Lays in 1932. It looks like Lays copied Jay's. Growing up in Milwaukee, Jay's was our go to brand.
Neither one copied the other. Jay's was named after Mrs Japp, while Lay's was named after their founder. It's just a coincidence.
nah , that logo looks like o bama on crack... what are they selling? hahahhaha
@@kenharness7430 Fr there also both different chips
Uh yes, Obama Fried Chicken, my favorite
Bruh
Yum
Ya boyyyu
still better than kfc
still better than kfc
They got Egg McMuffins we got Egg Mc Stuffings..🤣
?
Burger King: earns the best burger award
McDonald's Chick-fil-A Jack in the box Carl's Jr in and out: are we a joke to you
Fun fact: Since the narrator mentioned Sunny-D might have been called: "Sunny day." No. It was actually called: Sunny delight.
😝😝

Pretty funny they're talking about a candy that rips off M & Ms, when M & Ms [1941] were a direct and identical rip-off of the English chocolate called Smarties [1937].
@@RetroEgg2 What does that even mean? They were first produced in 1941, four years after Smarties were produced in the UK. Go to the Mars website if you don't believe me. "But just sayin".
We ate at a pizza parlor in the Brazilian beach town of Balneario Camboriu called Pizza HOT, same colors and almost identical logo, but Pizza HOT opened 24/7, while Pizza Hut closed at Mid night. In the same town, they also had a Burger Place named General Pepper, which actually tastes pretty good..
babble videos are like watching a good movie👍👍👍👍great job babble
Ahhh the knock off brands.
We weren't rich growing up and knock off brands helped a lot.
Also . . .

So true! I ate many knock offs of rice crispes, fruit loops, and many others. The taste was not so different and we saved a lot of money.
you smashed it so much it broke your screen and then you committed suicide because you can’t type emojis anymore
Can't even lie, hearing MaDonal took me out lol. Also, Borneo??? REALLY?? LOL
Lol the fried pea snaps made me choke
Creme between lmao
It's borio
It makes you wonder how these knock offs didn't get sued by the real ones for copyright violations
Good point and I was wondering the same thing!
KFC did charge ofc though. Plus you have store brands that are knockoffs by definition. Might be a case of if the product sells better than the knock off then who cares. However that doesn't mean Disney, Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft won't sue. Do I need to mention Soulja Boy? He actually challenged Nintendo to take him to court right after get got in trouble with Sony.
Maybe they didn’t sue because they had confidence that theirs was superior so they didn’t think it was necessary 🤷♀️i dont know
Another great top ten video great job.
Loved the video. I was born, raised, & lived in Kalamazoo, Michigan, & I grew up eating Jay's Potato Chips. I watched a documentary about fascinating facts about Chicago History on the PBS station from Chicago. Thr Jay's company came about because, Al Capone had his first taste of them, when he visited Saratoga for the horse racing. He loved them so much that when he returned to Chicago, he prevailed on Mr. Japps, who sold peanuts, add potato chips. Your classic offer you can't refuse. He did, & they were sold under the name Mrs. Japps, until 12/7/41, "A date that will live in infamy", since a "Jap" at this time was a disparaging term for one of the hostile forces in WWI, the name was changed to Jays
I did not ask
Um ok
Jays chips are superior. Lays finally have a hot flavor chip but jays has had the hot stuffs for decades and when trans fats were outlawed lays had to scramble for a different fry oil jays was always using corn oil
Went to Dahab Egypt many years ago and they had a McMohamed restaraunt with the same golden arches ...was a clone
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Wow 😂
Jays (1927) has been around longer than Lays (1932) Jays is NOT a knockoff
She acknowledged that did you watch the video? Or did you just want to sound cool
Jay's are awesome. I grew up on them in the Chicagoland area.
I live in Austin, and at our local HEB which is a Texas grocery store, we have twisters for Oreos. Twisters is a knock off
Pizza Hut: Hut is German for 'hat' and their logo looks like a hat. For many years I thought it was a hat (I lived in Germany) so the name and logo made sense.
Actually, I lived in China for 4 years and there are indeed legit 7-11s in Beijing.
Even in Chengdu
Also in other cities in China
Over the whole of Thailand too.
Fruit rings are definitely better than fruit loops.
I LOVE the swimmer candies for real (only the sour ones). They are sour and sweet and so good! (P.S this is not a joke)
I love a whopper from hungry jacks😋😂
I love BabbleTops videos!
This was grate can u do a pt 2
And hear all this time I thought Hydrox cookies were rip off of Oreos, mind blown! Great video!
I think they sell Froot Rings at Dollar Tree😆
Seriously, I just watched one video and im addicted to this channel.
Thank you.❤️🥰@Ado Standley
Did you know that Lay’s chips are Walker’s crisps in the UK? They are the same company and use the same logo but it says Walker’s instead of Lay’s
Why not keep the same name?
@@rickjensen2833 we do not know…but I harshly know lays crisps sounds good but not as good for lays potato chips
14:09 Steven Tyler has looked like he's in his 70's _since_ the 70's.
cessie Rae? WTF does that mean? That's the english translation according to google.
Here in the UK, Lidl budget supermarkets sell their own brand of Oreo knock offs called Neo. They look the same, have that very intense chocolate flavour we all know and love that Oreos have, and have the same style creamy filling. However, they cost about half as much as the equivalent sized pack of Oreos. On to a winner then, you'd think. Nope. They sell rather poorly, and most adults won't buy them for their kids because other kids would bully them for "Being too poor" to buy the real thing.
My mum mostly got the Neo's very rarely did she get the oreo
I’m from the uk too and Aldi has jive instead of twix
Anybody that ever had fruit rings know that they're better than Fruit Loops. And just because something the popular that doesn't make it the original.
This channel is the best 😊😊
Jay’s Potato Chips is not a Lays nock-off!! Growing up in Chicago in the 70’s, Jays, Vitner and Evans was the Choice over Lays!!! Lays really became popular during the 80’s!!
She acknowledged that
This is 100% gonna be hilarious 😆
why would malls have warts?
That one burger restaurant clearly copied the whole mcdonalds theme, but im sure their food isnt anywhere close to the garbage they sell at McDonald's
Thanks for Hydrox mention.
When you want Starbucks but you get starf#$*s
Are you sure that wasn't from "Idiocracy"?
me who lives in japan but never seen a “7 mercy” but only “7 eleven” : 👁👄👁

The people who made this have never been to China and it shows. There are Seven Elevens everywhere in here.

4:44 No! That can't be real! STARF*CKS?!?!?! XD
You know why the Pizza restutaunt is Pizza hat? Because you have a hat that is a pizza😂🤪
😂😂😂hilarious 😂
Seeing Ashens in a Babbletop video is something I never expected.
The thumbnail: of course 🤣🤣
I know all of it except for Scandinavian Swimmers
Seriously, I don’t even know about Swedish Fish at all!
And rip-offs on my most favorite fast food brand(KFC) and my most favorite sweets brand(Kit Kat)?!
As a former Chicagoan, I remember Jay's from when I was a kid. I didn't know about the name change however 🤷🏾♀️.
Why do i feel like the Scandinavian Swimmer are better than swedish fish
Babble Top Always Great 👍❤️
Many house brands, especially discount grocer Aldi, have branding and packing design of major brand products.
I think knock of Oreo are a bit better then the original
*Orio fried peas LMAO*
Nobody remembers pick-one.. the kitkat copy when kitkat made the kitkat bigkat..pick one made the big-one.. iconic
I found doctor professor peppy LOL
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂🌚🌚🌚🌚🌚that’s the most hilarious video I’ve ever watched lol hahaha
OMG, OFC is the most alarming thing I ever heard!
@ecclestonsangel HAHAHAHAHAHA that's true, then what they serve you is the internal organs of the chicken, not fried chicken😂🤣
@@BabbleTop oh, no! That's truly alarming!
“Nothin else on the shelves”? Try “nothing left in the bank account”, mama.
I was today's years old when I realized that Froot Loops don't spell it fruit loops
Same.
Same here..

*Ofc"*
My brain: *Of course it is*
Lol🤣@space ghidorah
UFO as in "you f**k off" 🤣😂
Maybe...
OFC. Aaah think I'm going to have a furball😆🤣
In this list they're saying that there's people copycatting the cookie Oreo but Oreo itself is a copycat of Ralston which was around long before Oreo cookies
We all love this channel
Also great my home country has a fake mc donalds
Hi babble long time no see
I remember 711's. Always used to go there for all kinds of candy
um star f*dolphin sounds * make laugh hard XD
knock off brands make me laughing
Me too, 😂
Yeah 🤣🤣🤣
They are funny but can save you money too
What if one of the rip-off’s for *Lays* was *Sits*
That's bizarre.
In my country, there are oreos but there is a local shop, near where I live and it's called "Neo" LOL
10:58 Imagine dunking an entire island into milk
Lol I got a ad that had snoop dog
I’m surprised that after all those knock off dr peppers not one is called dr salt 😂
There is a small chain in parts of New Jersey that is called Kennedy Fried Chicken
Imagine someone making Mallwart
That would be dumb, stupid idea and a hard work,
@@G_Fantastic yeah i know
@@G_Fantastic actually since most of them are located near malls, makes sense.
They can even get sued of it after a long hard work lol
This starts the exact same way as watchmojo’s video on the same topic. Time to see which was posted first!
4:03 the obvious reason why they may have changed the name from “Mrs. Japp’s” to “Jay’s” was to avoid insinuating that their product was a Japanese knock off (remember that WW2 has just ended, and the USA at that time has no love for the Land of the Rising Sun)
No spam:
Bots:wait I didn’t hear
Nice.,
The Dr Bob one was actually a Giant / Stop And Shop store brand…
I tought ofc stranded for of course. XD
I saw one called professor peppy😂🤣
Babble top lol 😂🤣😂
I thought that the OFC was just click bait. Lol
If I made KitKat I would call it pup dog
Ofc of course
Just like Crunchie and Violet Crumble
LOL THE KFC TO OFC IS A SHORTCUT NAME OF COURSE
10:58 HMM BORNEO sounds like my place!!
Lol these can't be well
OFC = Obama Fried Chicken. I almost died.
As far as cereals and grocery food items go; store brands are always knockoffs.
as long as the price is right no problem lol 😜
1:47 not stereotypical at all. Nevertheless, a hilarious scene from "dont be a menace" 🤣
How about Osama Fried Chicken.😂
Alot of counterfeiting going on and it hurts the original company to some extent . Any obvious attempt to copy another food chain, right down to very similar name should be ordered to shut down
OFC was the stand out winner for me 🤣🤣🤣
0:06 why does this burger look so good
and in Canada we Have Circle K for the Main conner store then some 7-11 around some places in Canada lol
