Hello and thanks a bunch for the Mega Test speaker performance insights! Looking forward to your discoveries for the rest on the bench.
As an aside, based on your video on the Wharfedale D320 and Audiolab paring, I did wind up purchasing the D320's $199/pr in USD.
IF you ever get the time or inclination to A/B test the D320's against the Q3030i's, I sure would be interested in your assessments.
Thanks again for all the great videos and insights...very, very helpful.

Hi Terry! More awesome looking speakers, with an awesome price tag. Man you really have been showing some awesome affordable products. I really like the modern aesthetic design. Magnetic grills just rock. If one takes some time to look around, there are really some great bang for the buck deals right now. These Q Acoustics 3030i speakers included. Great review as always great, and pertinent information. Have a great day man! See you next time.

Great review.. I have the 3050I's as mains and 3010i's as surround. I agree with the sound somehow. My tuning was the QED silver plated cables which makes them sound more clear especially in the highs as it boosts the treble a little bit. Also after a while I calibrated them with the Audussey XT32 with flat profile. It's a very different speaker now... It's almost too bright now but I really like it.
Maybe there should be a whole another video about how the 'room correction' might change the nature of a speaker.

Since my room is so small, I ended up with these with some good stands from Atacama. I have the NAD C558 turntable and the NAD C368 amp with the BlueOS module. In the beginning they were..just ok? But after played them in with 20-30 hours of playing, they came to live. Warm, responsive and the sound is pleasing. If you have a smaller room, these are a no-brainer :)

Also your analysis of the Q’s was how my local Richer Sounds guy described them when I was after a small cheap speaker for my office (think it was the 3010i) - he suggested I try a Dali speaker as I listen to a lot of female vocals so picked up the Zensor 1 - cracking buy for the money. Have you thought about an Oberon 3 for the test, meant to be brilliant for the money ~£499

Thank you for this fantastic review as always.
I have a pair of 3030i since 3 years paired with my Yamaha A-S501 and is a really nice couple. I enjoyed them a lot all this time.
Recently I decided to upgrade my system and bought the Musical Fidelity M6si, the Cambridge CXC V2 CD transport and the Eversolo DMP-A6 stremaer/DAC. I find that this new system is a heaven, although my older setup was nice, this is another league. Now I'm looking to buy a new pair of speakers. My 4 final options are the Sonus Faber Sonetto 2, the ATC SCM12 or 19, the Triangle Còmete 40 Anniversary, and probably my favourites the Dynaudio Special Forty. Anyway, the decision to choose one of them is not being easy at all, because I'm not have the possibility to listen them live.
Any recommendation for what to choose looking at my actual system please? Thank you very much. Kind regards!

Some nice views Terry and ones that have not dulled my desire to get these. While have a substantial headphone set-up, these are my first 2.0 speakers I have for a very long time indeed.
For the price they seem to be frankly amazing value.
But on a more wife friendly account, these simply tower about the very boring B&W and the psychotic looking Whardales, I do like de-grilled speakers and the Q’s are by far the best looking in this under £600 price range.
The warmth appeals as they will be powered by the Fosi V3 mono blocks which should be a good neutral amp.

I changed up from 3020 to 3020i . I loved the 3020 but not the 3020i . To me It was well built yes, but odd size very deep . I didnt like all the bass , too much for my space medium sized room . Moved em well into the room but just didnt like the sound so got rid. I got the concep20 and kept them for a year , good clarity and lovely build but then upgraded to 606 lol. Best speaker by far . Very dynamic and agile deep bass and worked well in my room . Another year later and i have the 606 s2 which are just lovely sounding, more refined and very controled in the bass and sweet detailed treble . I run these with a roksan k3 amp and bi wired with atlas speaker cable on the concept stands because their awsome 👌👌

A £300 speaker vs£600 speaker is a bit unfair however I can see why you did it, having demoed the 3030i I think better test would have been concept 20, the only thing the 3030i is better is in the base, concept 20 are cleaner more precise and detailed but for lacking in base this is a better test AS Q acoustics concept 20 last generation speakers

  • @ianjohnhorwood2605

Well for my bedroom system I got a pair of Edwards audio sp2 two way three driver loudspeakers for £400. Only four components in the crossover, because the drivers were designed for the least possible crossover components as possible. Sensativity 89db but 4 ohm, because there are twin 8 ohm 130mm doped paper midbass units with silk dome tweeter. They were designed to be dynamic and not mask detail. Q acoustic loudspeakers also for me are too compromised in performance too. The Edwards sp2 are fast dynamic and detailed, unlike the Q acoustics which seem at the opposite end of the spectrum. Never have liked q acoustics bass tuning with their rear ports that seems to chuff quite awfully, and also do not like their soft sound either. Think there is just a little too much compromise in q acoustics. I am Using the Edwards sp2's in the bedroom system with a mid 90's upgraded and serviced restek challenger amplifier ( serviced by restek of Germany 🇩🇪 ), a stereo monoblock with dual complimentary push pull design, which also is a fast detailed dynamic amplifier, highly biased class A signal input.

What is wonderful review! I've fired-up the "like " button because you're a perfect reviewer compared to others.
I've got the q acoustic 3090ci centre speaker. I've also got svs sb1000 subwoofer. My mini Denon bookshelf speakers bought for £95 aren't that great sound-wise so I'm contemplating an upgrade to the 3030i bookshelf speakers hence I've got the q acoustic centre speaker mentioned above.
My question is, Hence the 3030i already has much bass, do you think the 3030i works best together with or without a subwoofer? Wouldn't the subwoofer over shadow the 3030i bass? The 3030i treble is of interest to me by the way. Please could you get back to me bro. Thanks in advance

I waited for your sound demo of the Q 3030 before I commented on your evaluation review of the 3030i. Indeed, almost all two way small speakers suffer from either weak bass or mids. In the case of the 3030i the mids, likely by design, are its shortfall. Your great work with Room correction (Dirac) is evident in the sound demo. The 3030 is impactful for such a small speaker. Yep OK for the easiness of placing speakers with that king of + 10 Db bass profile !!!
That said, one easy thing to do if u detect a bass problem (not so seismic) with a BS speakers : double the cable wire on the - plugs... u don't always need a Q Acoustics to be happy with bass.
Hifi Speaker should be +/- 3db in all it's range. So the Q Acoustic 3030i Hifi spectrum range is like 250Hz-1.5KH ?
