And can a big sister have more than one little sister? By "big sister," I mean the woman who takes a maiko under her wing and helps to train her in her apprenticeship.

I don't think that Suzuha retired. I do believe she flipped her collier.
Suzuha did become a Geiko but later retired on December 25th 2008.
Aaaaaaahhhhhh....Wakana-san as a young maiko,so cute :-) She is now a geiko and she might retire after Miyako Odori T_T
