- In the near future, a strange virus spreads around the world causing people to get retrograde and anterograde amnesia. It spreads like wildfire and takes over the world in no time. All developments halt as a result of the epidemic.

I love the fact that the movie itself slowly forgets the plot of the story and the purpose of the characters, eventually leading to a mysterious end that doesn't care to explain anything.
i think that's the purpose of this movie, you can't remember why you're watching it in the first place.
Oh hell nah the cameraman and the movie got infected too
@@unoriginalname5665 Dang the cameraman is usually immune to the consequences.
Lol
Most true comment ever...useless movie ever made ....
This may possibly be a fate worse than death. Our memories and experiences are the only things we truly own. Without the ability to look back on old, or make new memories are you really living?
It's one of the scariest things that a human can experience.
I saw a man who had a real case of anteretrograde amnesia...it seemed like a really tough situation to be in. :-(
it’s like being rebirthed
Bro stop giving me another reason for my existentional crisis
That is why the girl left the bunker. You shouldn't hold on to the pass and you shouldn't fear/look only to the future. We will all most likely go thru some tough times, but we have to move on from them. Don't be afraid to loose the person you love now because you will find new love if you are open to finding it. Don't stay stuck on the loss of a loved one, because life goes on.
Being diagnosed with a disease that makes you forget everything in a ridiculously short amount of time is more terrofying than it sounds..
The "love story" of the couple was really tragic
Ngl..
Yes
At least in the good side you can forget bad thing that happened in your life
they were brother and sister
@@Jonathan-fk9nq i think theres more cons than pros in this situation
Maybe that is just from the perspective of people who expect love to be a certain way, but if they understood their situation clearly, maybe they wouldn't want to change it. They experience the best part of love over and over again every day without ever experiencing the bad parts.
There is one man who has a span of a memory that lasts about 15 to 20 seconds. If I remember correctly, he had some disease maybe 20 years go and the virus destroyed some part of his brain. The TV crew who made that interview asked him if he knows who are they, he answered that they are the first people he saw after he was admitted to the hospital. But, he remembers his wife, and because he worked as a pianist he is able to play the piano. Interestingly he didn't lose his wit, when they asked him what is love, he said "Nothing in tennis, everything in life". There is a video about him on youtube, I think it is named " The man with 7 seconds memory".
im pretty sure he didnt remember his wife? either that or he never remembers her visiting and just knows that she exists. very depressing, i've watched the vid about his life 2 times. he's so funny though lol.
@@shoe777 I think he remembers his wife, maybe not her visits to him, but I have seen that video a long time ago, I can't be sure, I will watch it again if it is still on youtube. In any case very strange, he lives only in the present time, in one singular moment. Terrifying stuff, but then again, he has no memory about that being terrifying because he is always in that same moment. No new memories, no old memories except muscle memory, playing the piano, and maybe knowing who is his wife.
It was a herpes virus that attacked his brain. His wife was the only person he truly remembered. He would leave nonstop messages for her saying "Darling I don't know where I am but something truly awful has happened, please call me right away" not know she just left him or that he just called her. She stayed for years and then left for a few years but they are back together and remain married because they still love each other and she said no one make her as happy as he does brain injury or not.
He was also a world famous composer and musician, because he still has muscle memory he can still play piano the same. It's very interesting. His name is Clive Wearing just fyi.
@@illbeyourstumbleine Thank you for the info. Herpes virus can do such damage...that is incredible. But, as far as I remember his intelligence and wit were almost intact.
Solution :
The uninfected should make billboards across the city reminding everyone who dont remember the effects of the virus and urge them to note the time they last remember in the system so they could estimate when they will forget everything again since it is exactly for 5 hours. Now atleast nobody confused of what is happening to them and can prepare before they lost their memories again
:)
they probably forgor 💀
No like seriously. Did no one ever seem to think “crap we forgetting shit, maybe we should write it down?”
at least the teacher didn't
@@VolcyThoughts they forgot to do that
I like how memories are disappearing but the knowledge of knowing how to do it has not gone away yet.
Because that's how amnesia works, you only lose declaritive memory.
I think
I knew a person who is like that every-other-day, not (5 hours) at a psych ward. Just few minutes after ECT, he comes back with a smile and introduces himself, like he doesn't remember anything from two days ago. I don't remember his name either.
You don't know his name or you don't *remember* 🤔
That was funny, (I don't remember his name either)😂
Plot twist: You're the person
@@vaishnevsreejeev (o _ O)
Same bro.. same..
kinda poetically beautifull that the couple doesnt forget each other
"What's lost will somehow always find its way back to you"
This made me realise how important a strong sense of purpose is and to be conscious of your choices otherwise you may end up lost and in repaetative cycles that are meaningless and unsatisfying in the long run this could be 5 hours or 20 years
Phenomenal recap. I was so worried about the couple when they split
I was like noooo MaxBen don’t walk away from KatieJenny
As soon as he walked away I was worried they'd forget each other. 😢 It's really sad that she knew she was missing something. Good thing they had those bracelets! But it was true luck they found each other. I wonder how many times that's happened.
This one ended so abruptly, there was almost no point to this movie
The authors probably forgot they were shooting it
@@djnjoy 😂
@@djnjoy 💀
Exactly, it was pointless!!!
@@djnjoy roasted them
When max forgot abt his wife was so funny tho like- she's still there like "oh man I hope he gets back soon" and he's like "oh would you look at that I have a water bottle" and just- leaves
I was kinda expecting for everyone to be exactly like the teacher and just write notes. Did the amnesia take away the ability to write?
Probably because there's still so much confusion. Even that teacher is doing amazingly for someone who takes notes, because i think you'd be asking more questions than getting answers anyway.
Everyone else except the teacher might not know that they will forget in 5 hours again, so they don't think to write notes in preparation.
Well if you remember, he wrote a book before the pandemic, so he knew he shouldnt forget that, and he started taking notes, and re reading past events to make sure he lived a decent life
Perhaps because he was a teacher, he had some muscle memory that allowed him to write notes??
Idk
I think the people don't remember that they have amnesia, so they don't realize that they have 5 hours left after "waking up" again. To them, the amnesia has only happened once. The teacher probably was just the kind of guy to keep a diary and that's how he was able to realize
So everyone basically become Alzheimer patients. Imagine taking care of someone who keeps forgetting who you are and keeps trying to escape everyday. Be kind to someone taking care of a relative with this condition.
"They seem calm for people who woke up next to strangers"
That probably because there used to it
This just proves that our entire personality and humanity, the entire essence of what makes us human, is just memory.
Probably because he wrote a book, writing is something natural to him.
Losing the whole world losing it’s memory completely may lead to a new slate, a possible clean start, or the exact opposite.
But losing memory for every 5 hours, just for it to come back is a super interesting plotline. A new start to a possible entire world order every 5 hours.
That’s sounds pretty chaotic ngl.

Memories about our experiences are like stars there's a bunch of them but it's impossible to remember and name them all for they multiply each day as our world turn around. Our habits is just like the sun, it's a star we all knew about because it have a great impact on our lives. Habit is a memory that's on replay for so long that our body and mind unconsciously remember them unlike the memories about our experiences that is just like a pile of different rocks that multiply each day.
Underrated comment.

*My goals are way beyond your understanding*
Actor standing there trying to remember his lines
Director "Yes Im loving this improvised acting your doing it looks so authentic"
Wow, this is amazing i trully apreciate the fact that he uses his time to just make us happy. Keep up the good work!
Imagine being pregnant and alone with such a condition ...
If we take into account that humanity keeps repeating the same mistakes and patterns over the course of history, I'd say that this pandemic has been going on ever since the recording of history! ;)
I think this movie just plays with your mind all the different people forgetting, the plot dosent make sense and changes so much it makes u forget what your even watching. Without understanding this purpose…the movie would be trash but with this thought in mind this movie is kinda genius 🤷🏾♀️
You do a good job you also explain every movie like a master piece Keep up the work
The less known movies are often the most interesting ones, opting to develop a plot and world much more cautiously than a multi million studio
One thing I've wondered is if you lose your memory as an adult would you maintain the same personality or would your environment force you to have a new identity 🤔
@Samir Dončić makes sense
How much of this could have been avoided if anyone wrote down ANYTHING at all, like what they got up to do, who they're with, why, etc.
Well they “forgot” only one man actually wrote down thing.
The thing is for them, amnesia has only happened one time. They don't know that it will happen again, so they have no reason to consider planning ahead. The teacher probably was a guy who already used a journal, and that's how he figured it out
@@pinkpink-kb6dl But the narrator of this video said that the couple knew that they weren't going to remember each other anymore so, they shouldn't sleep.
@@TedEhioghae seems like a flaw in the writing for the movie, or a misunderstanding from the narrator. Bc if they knew they would forget, they would never have split up, and everyone else with the condition would make smarter choices and keep notes
I love how he explains everything and uploads daily
In all the movies which has a story revolving around memory loss, makes me wonder how a someone forget his experiences, loved ones, memories but retain the language they are supposed to speak. Like, if Max lost his memory , he should be speaking unga bunga, not english.🤔🤔
Yeah also how does he remembers that he has to wear clothes and what is food and what is not??
Most people that lose their memory in an accident still know how to do daily things,
Source: trust me bro (I think I saw a documentary about it many years ago)
Maybe because speaking and reading are one of the first skill we ever learned aside from eating walking. Idk maybe because communication has been deeply etched to our minds and body that it's just as simple as it is to remember how to breath, eat, sh*t, walk and drink. Habits die hard they say
Thats because all these things are "stored" in different parts of the brain. This + there's also a condition where you are not able to make new memories. That means that you remember everything up to a certain point and then nothing more. Idk the brain is wicked complex and I'm no neuroscientist, but its definitely possible and it does happen in reality too sometimes
@@prodmatze Yup, An adult may not remember the time he learned their ABCs but they will remember that he Knowledge. There is a different parts of the brain, one that holds memories and on that holds basic knowledge. Remember this, your memories are malleable even now, but your knowledge isn't

I have watched this. It is absolutely heart breaking, but an amazingly written film. The direction is as hectic as their thoughts and fits this film perfectly. I am glad I saw it....but this isn't the type of movie you watch more than once unless it's to study some part or all of it. It does take an emotional toll.

4:38 what are you doing stepbro?!? 🤣🤣🤣
Few days back I was telling my family that love stories annoy me nowadays... yet..This love story made me cry..they only had each other🥺🥺
Honestly this sounds like a fate worst than death!
These "I'm going to be rebellious and go outside because my life is so bad inside" movie moments are the worst. She's just going to go outside, get sick, forget and possibly die. Meanwhile she left her dad to now worry about her and stay alone. These movie writers try to make these moments seem relatable and logical appealing to human emotion and the need to "be free" so to speak but this is terrible. This is a circumstance where the person is not the issue holding you back, it's a force you cannot fight. Her decision to leave is absolutely dumb and she gave no care to LOGIC and it was one full of EMOTION instead. Do you think her dad likes being trapped inside? No, but he deals with it in hopes for the future. She's not "finally living her life" She's going out based on emotion to finally lose her life.
I literally just came from a crime video of a 25-year-old makeup artist that dated a complete idiot whom her family didn't like. An of again on-again relationship, and because she didn't listen to reason from family and probably friends too, now she's dead because he murdered her and then took his own life. This is the result of following your emotions and not logic and not listening to those around you within reason. Tragic but common if you binge-watch crime stuff. They never listen.
Well think of it this way, she's been locked up since she was like 9 with only an adult male with her. Her maturity level has probably not increased much due to lack of socialization and interaction in the world. I think the trope is a bit overdone, but I do consider it believable when the person trying to be free is a child, and thinks like a child would. Kids are dumb
