TGSA x Proton X90 Endurance Challenge: Did we Make it?

- The gauntlet was set by Proton to TopGear South Africa. Could we take two of their 6 / 7-seater SUVs on a 1-tank roadtrip from Midrand, JHB via Durban and Umhlanga all the way to St. Lucia? On paper anyway, it seemed almost impossible judging by Proton's claimed consumption figures as well as by our own previous experience with the car. But we're always up for a challenge and here, we present the full story.
A two-day fuel challenge turned into a three-day nailbiter and you wouldn't believe what we ended up achieving.
Proton SA's X90 Hybrid was the biggest surprise. Where does one find a petrol-powered hybrid 6 / 7 Seater that can do this?

Why are you so proud about Proton? Do you benefit a single cent from it? Because of Proton, the Malaysian Government implemented protectionism policies to protect Proton which is still in place today. Proton also benefited from incentives from tax payers money. What do tax payers get in return? Nothing but costlier foreign brands with better built quality. All profits earned by Proton goes to the company coffers which don't benefit tax payers at all. Until today it is still competing by rebatching other brands...
@@HandsomeBoy99999 stop yapping and go touch some grass. We already got subsidised ron95 in compensation for foreign brands tax, 2nd the tax was low for ckd unit, 3rd you might want to check lkw/lbn duty free price for all models and guess what? They aren't cheap aswell.

Just asking because the singaporean always did that while fueling ( read : stealing our subsidize fuel , Petrol RON95) whenever they crossed the Causeway and bring their car to Malaysia.

95 Octane is premium fuel in South Africa? It's the standard fuel here in Malaysia.
Just sharing, 91 the standard fuel in a lot of countries and 95 is considered 'premium'

Fyi 91 Octane = Ron 95. Octane is different from Ron. I hope u understand, 91 octane / ron 95 is regular fuel for most country. Lowest grade fuel in Malaysia is ron 95 but in some country they us 89 octane = Ron 92 as their lowest grade fuel. So in this video they use 95 octane = Ron 100, and yes it's premium fuel all over the world.

Padahal , a portion of the revenue generated by proton will go to geely anyway , it's not supporting the Malaysian economy that much .
