    I couldn’t sleep well this early a.m. so felt like watching a crochet 🧶 video, as they usually calm me down watching. But this one Project is just so adorable 🥰 I watched the entire video thinking 🤔 this nice lady is ☝️ of the BEST CROCHET EDUCATORS I’ve seen yet on CZcams.
    I already know how to crochet but I’m teaching my “all thumbs” husband, how to crochet & knit. After watching, I’m pretty sure he’ll see how the different basic stitches are made! He tells me, the others go too fast & don’t show how the hook maneuvers the” loops & stitches”.
    You did such a good job explaining the Single, Half-Double & Double Crochet stitches. Now when he & I practice his needle work again, I’m turning-on THIS ELEGANT THOROUGH, WELL DONE 👍🏻 VIDEO.
    Thanks…. Made My Night & Wee Hours of the Morning. 🙏🏼

    Thank You so much for going really slow so we can see what you are doing. I was watching a video the other day, and she was going so fast I couldn’t see what she was doing. I even watched it several times, could never see all of the stitches. I have been crocheting for years so I know my stitches. But this was crazy. I can imagine what it was for a beginner. So again Thank You. Love your channel ❤️❤️❤️

    Do you need to have an even number of embroidery chain stitches to begin with? Thanks.

    • @helenmaycrochet8411
      @helenmaycrochet8411  Před 7 lety +2

      Hi Rebecca! Whenever I make my embroidery stitches, I just make sure that the size of each one is equivalent and large enough to fit my crochet hook through. The number shouldn't matter with this easy to crochet pattern. :)

    Love your tutorial. So easy to follow. Just one question why would you chain 3 if it is a double? I always thought 2. I’m new to it so I wasn’t sure. Thanks

      Hi Crissy! Thank you very much. I learned from someone else that a ch3 is for a double crochet and a ch2 is for a half double crochet. This method has worked for me. I ch4 for a treble crochet. I hope that helps. Happy crocheting!

    I love this but not being a creative craft person, your instructions are so detailed. But being a simple person, I'd have appreciated instructions on how to stitch a button rather than the rose. Do you have tutorials that show how to sew a button into the crochet topper?

    • @helenmaycrochet8411
      @helenmaycrochet8411  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Abi! I think that a button would be cute too. All you do is sew the button in place of the crochet rose. I don't have a tutorial to show how to do this.

      I got some of them from Kohls department store, but I forget where exactly I picked these up. During the holidays, stores start putting out holiday kitchen towels. Oh yeah, Big Lots may have some too, but Kohls has a wonderful selection. Joann craft store also puts some out too. :)

      Hi Marie! It is a personal choice. I personally think that 100% cotton, especially "I Love This Cotton" would work best for this crochet project, but you could use 100% acrylic too.

    • @helenmaycrochet8411
      @helenmaycrochet8411  Před 7 lety +1

      Hi Mary! That is why it is nice to learn how to make the embroidery stitch. You could make a beautiful crochet kitchen towel topper, whether you ended up with an even or odd number. You can easily correct the number that you want on the next row up. Thank you for commenting. :)

    What size tapestry needle do you recommend that I use?

    • @helenmaycrochet8411
      @helenmaycrochet8411  Před 6 lety

      Hi Rebecca! There are two types of needles: Darning needles and Tapestry needles. Sometimes, I will use the terms interchangeably, but there is a difference. A darning needle usually has a sharp point and large eye, and a tapestry needle is usually short, with a long eye, and blunt end (which sometimes requires a DMC yarn threader). My favorite go-to needle is the darning needle. The one you see in my crochet video tutorials, is actually a darning needle. I use my tapestry needles for when I want to sew buttons, sew through felt, or for when I use beads with yarn. Some people do use tapestry needles with large eyes and blunt ends, but I prefer to use the darning needles with sharp ends (some people say that the sharp ends may split the yarn, but I haven't had that problem). So, my recommendation for you when making these crochet towel toppers, is to use a darning needle. The darning needle has a sharp end for making the embroidery stitch on the towel. They usually sell the needles in a small pack at the craft store with different sizes. I have a small pack of the large eyed darning needles, and I have a small pack of the smaller tapestry needles. I usually have my favorite larger darning needle that I always use, because it makes my work quick and easy (I don't have to use a DMC needle threader. The yarn will slip through the eye easily for burying loose yarn ends). I hope that you have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! :)
