This is how to win an award. Show up. Stunning dress and perfect grooming. Crack a spontaneous joke. Humble gracious acceptance. Thank academy. Pay tribute to everyone you worked with and can remember (a feat of learning) and have time to thank in glowing terms. Share the award with them. Give a sense of time and place and make it specific and personal. Finally acknowledge 'Miss Garland' and her London connection. Use timeless language. Leave as elegantly and graciously as you arrived. This is why Renee has always won British hearts.

Absolutely right! What a beautiful speech and presence. Also, extremely deserved award. I grew up watching Judy with my mother ( 79 now ) and as a fan of her, find Renne work stunning. She brought Judy back.

I dont get the Renee hate. Shes been doing things excellently for so long. Scarlettâs just starting doing serious films, and her acting powers are not even at par with Saoirse Ronanâs.
I like RenĂ©e Zellweger but Iâm quite disappointed that Saoirse Ronan lost again (her performance in âLittle Womanâ was stellar and refined). And it seems like the critics personally love biopic films this year. Nevertheless, this is definitely a glorious comeback for RenĂ©e after a 6-year hiatus.
She did an absolutely amazing job being Judy Garlandâs final years. I went back on Judy Garlandâs old documentaries and rewatched âWizard of Ozâ to see it in a different light just because of âJudy.â

sending my respect to Renee, but truth to be told Scarlett has started her serious roles way before the marriage story. Guess Avengers was a temporarily thing which made audience forget about Girl with a Pearl earring, Lost in Translation, Under the Skin and a bunch of other films she's exquisite in.
Donât hate! She did an incredible job playing Judy. The other actresses also did a great job in their respective roles. But someone has to win. That being said, I watched Judy and no matter if you liked the film or not RenĂ©e was brilliant. She was also incredible in Cold Mountain.

Can't put my finger on why, but I feel Renee Zellweger went through A LOT to do this part and to get the accolades and respect she is getting for it. Like this wasn't just a "movie star gets a cool role" kinda deal, like there was some real effort here and real hustle.
I hope she is happy and content.

Quite an American night, rather unusual! đ€ I don't know if American users will see my point (I'm not British either, by the way), but within the modern world's hegemonial American(ized) showbizz, I kinda like foreign academies supporting regional/national artists. On the other hand, those are all long-deserved recognitions for often underrated actors/-tresses and of course the performance is more important than the nationality and the politics!

It's pretty clear who is going to take home the Academy Awards now as all four of these actors have continuously dominated the awards circuit winning Golden Globes, the SAGS and now the BAFTA's.

RenĂše played Judy Garland in the biopic Judy which is what she has has been the awards for. Rightly so in my humble opinion. She is a brilliant acrtress and very down to earth and sweet.

LetsBeClear I get what youâre saying, but Her âsouthernâ accent is waaaay more thick and put upon in some of her other award show clips. Call me cynical, but it feels like sheâs channeling it to sound more endearing. Some of these award show speeches are high performance.

Even tho ScarJo didn't win, she still did a convincing job showing she has other abilities besides running around in a suit in a Marvel movie. My guess is Hollywood will come calling with more scripts and acting opportunities. More so than they would give Charlize Theron because, let's face it, Scarlett is 10 years younger than Charlize and just as beautiful. That's just the hard reality of Hollywood. Out of all the women in this category, Scarlett is the only one who will get the most scripts offered to her.
