I have a 5 gallon Jerry can of diesel in my truck, just in case. If you do this, be sure to cycle the diesel in it every month or so or you'll get algae build up.

I have been using the RV version of Star Link for only about 2 weeks, but it's been really good so far. The receiver is not too large or heavy, and it's a really simple system. The Wi-Fi is strong, and my computers and phones work well 100 feet or more from the wireless modem/router. Some people have said a booster might be needed just to get a satisfactory signal from one end to the other of a large RV, but I haven't found that to be the case. If you guys are looking for for some cooler places to explore, I'm in NW Montana along the Clark Fork river not far from the Idaho panhandle, I could show you around or just direct you to places. It's hot down in the valleys but I live here and know the area very well and there are places not far off the beaten path in the mountain valleys that are 10 to 15 degrees cooler, and there are lots of neat forest roads and places to explore with lakes and creeks. The scenery is great too.

We got Starlink in Spearfish, South Dakota maybe 2.5 months ago. So far we used it there, in Montana near Whitefish, in Washington near Bellingham, and here in Redmond near Bend, Oregon. It’s been great in all those places, but during bad weather it’s not as good as when it’s clear. None of the places we’ve used it had very good 5g on Verizon, ATT, or T-mobile. We have all 3. With Starlink we always seem to get over 100 mbps.
We were out riding south of Bend yesterday, and someone tried to rob us on a fire road. We’re about to get out of here, and head down to Reno for 2 weeks before we head up to the Twin Falls area. Lots of sketchy people in this area.
We went through Idaho on our way from Montana to Washington. It looked like SXS heaven. I think we will bounce around Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming until late October. Then we’re back to Utah.
Did you ride any of the lava flow trails here? That’s about all I liked here.

Almost forgot. Upload seems to usually be around 15 mbps, but I’ve seen it over 50 at times.

Wow thanks for all the info! We didn’t get to ride the lava flows, that’s crazy hope everyone is safe. We didn’t really care for that area either!

We’ve been out for 15 months, and never been unplugged for more than one night. I don’t know how y’all do it. Hell, the longest we’ve been without sewer is 3 weeks.
We came off a trail in the national forest here and had to run down the paved road for maybe 50 yards until we got to a gravel road. We were trying to find some butte that had views of the Sisters and Mount Jefferson. We got around 3 or 4 miles down the road and saw a nice clean looking silver Infinity suv coming towards us. They started slowing down and waving for us to stop. We did, but when I saw the driver and the girl in the front seat, they looked like meth heads. The guy asked me where the nearest gas station was, and I told him to go to the paved road and turn left towards town, then he looks back behind him and hits the button to lower the back window. There was another guy on the passenger side in the back seat, and when the window got about halfway down, I saw the guy was raising a shotgun or a rifle so I hit the gas and got out of there. It was definitely crazy, and got our adrenaline going. My wife had grabbed the bear spray as soon as she saw what was going on, and our son was in the back seat trying to figure out what was happening. There’s some whacked sh!t going on in those woods.

Hey you two! My wife, pup, and I roam in a Solitude. We've been watching your channel. We have a few million miles on you guys! 😁 Anyway, I can work anywhere as long as I have internet. Have Starlink and it's been well worth the investment. Work, stream, and wifi calling. With you two camping primarily under the big sky, obstructions won't be a problem. If you start going more rustic, you'll just need a few mount choices. Safe travels and maybe we'll meet along the open road one day!
