- FAWN: [poke, poke] Turn on the taps, Mom!
MOM: Ouch! Time for you to forage for yourself.
This fawn is just at the age where fawns are often weaned, and must learn how to forage and nourish themselves. I love her little bleating sounds! Also love how the fawn paws the ground as if that would bring more milk. Near the end of this clip, Mom is clearly ready to move on and stop with the nursing. Tough Love for Bambi!
What you catch on these cameras is amazing! It's almost as if mom stopped directly in front of the camera to say, "You see what I go through?"
🤣 🤣 🤣 - I was super thrilled they decided to stop for a snack right there! Too bad I couldnt’ get them to turn ever so slightly toward the right. 😁
Teenagers amirite
Beautiful to see little ones nursing. Mom may be starting to wean fawn, from as much as she is bumping Mom’s bag for more milk. The fawn has lost most of its spots.
Thanks for sharing.
Yup! This is that time of year when the Mamas wean their older fawns. I was trying to learn more about whether the does’ milk naturally waned, or if they simply weaned by discouraging nursing. The Mama’s udder is definitely retracted from what it used to be when her baby was tiny - so there’s that.
I was reading a hunting blog last night to learn a little more about deer-weaning and the age when fawns/adolescent deer go off on their own. I was surprised to learn there are routine cases of Mama does still lactating in late Autumn, and early Winter! I thought that was interesting. So perhaps there’s a combination of natural milk-reduction and a case of tough-love going on here. 😁
@@FAIRVIEWCRITTERCAMS Thanks for the info Amy. I intended to Google, got distracted. Easily done! 😜 And "they" say ... why waste your time ocd'ing on CZcams...I beg to differ ! Lol 🕊
Reminds me of the way Bernie has a throat growl as he scarfs his his food 😹
Oh ouch. That little fawn is really eager. Poor mom, being pulled to pieces and kicked to pieces. Hope that baby is ready to eat on her own soon.
Awesome video. Thank you.
IKR! Poor Mama. I’m sure this is pretty typical, though.
This is right around the time of year when Mama-does start weaning their youngsters. You can tell the Mama’s already starting to encourage her fawn to eat elsewhere. (Like in my garden. 🙄 And I thought deer weren’t supposed to be fond of Caladium.) This is the first year in 8 years that the deer found my hosta, too. Boo HOO.
@@FAIRVIEWCRITTERCAMS Uh oh. Deer, birds, and I guess all animals have a built in network that the internet envys. If there's food available someplace the word goes out. Your poor garden doesn't stand a chance now. I hope you enjoyed it. 😀
🤣 🤣 🤣
It was bad enough with the bears constantly assaulting my evergreens and saplings. And the bucks always come along during mating season, scraping and snapping what’s left of those trees. I was kinda hoping part of my gardens could remain safe, but nooooooo. 😆
@@FAIRVIEWCRITTERCAMS LOL. Looks like the word is out on your buffet! 😀
Deer are such a beautiful and calming creature everytime I get to see one I feel its special love this little one nursing ♡♡
So cute ❤ but this cute fella is no longer a fawn-fawn, it should be able to outrun most predators.
If my kids did that I would never have nursed! 🤣
🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
Cold here in CT today, cloudy and awaiting some snow. If we get the 4” the weather people are predicting, that just may be the deepest snow Fairfield County has seen all season! What a snowless winter! So…I’m doing some resting today, a couple of little chores in between flat on my back time…and Fairview Critter Cam reruns! Woohoo! I can’t get enough of this hungry little one, watched right after my 2nd or 3rd visit to Ava and you getting up close and personal with Sadie and baby Topsy? Or Turvy? I forget..what a video! Proud of your hard work in editing and camera captures lady! You really have created some unbelievable videos. Thank you everyday. !
Hope you are all comfortable and cozy!
So glad we could sit a spell. 😁
Agreed on the previous comment! Your wildlife loves the camera! They will do almost anything to make sure we all get a good view into their daily routines, playful moments, baby introductions, bath times, and even a little hanky panky! This youngster was a bit rough punching that teat though, don’t you think? Yikes! Thanks again Amy!
Yes!! OUCH! 🦌 🥛 Poor Mama Doe.
Thanks for watching and commenting, as always!
Old enough to start on solids?
… pretty sure mom is drying up to encourage the youngster that size to catch on to foraging and drinking. ))))
- or she’s simply trying to wean her kiddo. I mentioned that in the description, too.
I was reading on a (hunting 🙄) blog last night that Mama-does have been found to still be lactating even as late as late-autumn, and early winter, whether or not they have an adolescent with them. I thought that was interesting.
That is so cute. That baby is so happy.
these videos are really Beautiful.. I love watching them.. !!! Mom dear has a lot to go through.. as well as baby.. cute..
Thank you so much for watching and commenting! 🥰
Amazing and incredible cute !
Wowww 🤩 Amy great catch!!! What a perfect pose!!! 👏👏👏😍😍😍
I was so happy about this!
What a treat. (But still - OUCH! Poor Mama Doe. 🤣)
Oh wow. Best video ever, this make my 2022. Soooo cute!
Awww! I’m so glad!! 🥰
Thanks for watching.
In case you missed it, here’s another nursing video - of bear cubs with their Mama. It’s so sweet! The bear cubs make a very special purring sound when they’re nursing, too:

@@FAIRVIEWCRITTERCAMS Thank you for reminding me. I have seen it and enjoyed it... and I will watch it again. Nursing animals are beautiful. ❤
More please Mama! 🍼 This fawn sure knows what to do, and how to do it. Awesome capture of nature Amy! Such cute little sounds. Stay safe Amy. 🕊
It was so sweet that they decided to stop right there for a spell! Too bad I couldn’t direct them to turn just ever more slightly toward the right, though. 🤣 I’m really glad they hung out there for a little while. 🥰

Que momento tão bonito.
Mas o pequenino pelo movimento da mãe, já é hora de ele começar a aprender sozinho a comer. 🐾🐾🐾🐾🍃🍃🍃
Yes! Looked like Mama was starting to give him a little tough-love. Time for that little one (who's not so little anymore) to start foraging for himself!
How beautiful nature is! Adorable! 😍
Looks like the milk is dried out and nothing mom can do
🥰 🐻
So beautiful! Thank you, Amy! 💙
Thank you for watching and commenting! Always so nice to see you here.
Happy baby eating noises. ♥️
My son used to make the loudest noises when he nursed....it was embarrassing at times. But you are right, it sounds more like happy noises than crying.
Yes!! (happy cries, like happy tears. 😊)
Kind of like the purring sounds that the bear cubs make when they’re nursing: czcams.com/video/AjkjmxwxZGU/video.html
It's great to see such natural wonders!
I love it when these moments happen right in front of my cameras. They feel like such a gift. 🥰
@@FAIRVIEWCRITTERCAMS Yes, it's an amazing experience.
So cute and adorable
Doesn’t sound like baby is getting her milk
I think those sounds are like a combination of Happy Cries - and “I Want MORE” cries. This is the age when Mama does tend to start weaning their fawns, so this scene may be showing a natural reduction in milk production, along with a heavy dose of tough love. 😁
I adore this fawn 💖 drink your milk sweetie 🍼
💚😊💜
I wonder what the crying was about???
Those first two cries seemed like, “Mama, I’m HUNGRY!”
But later on, I think they were happy-contented sounds combined with a few frustrated sounds when the fawn probably wanted a little more milk than she was getting.
Aww
